Hello everyone! We are Neurofibromatosis (NF) Midwest. Neurofibromatosis is a genetic disorder that can cause many complications throughout the body, most commonly tumors. However, those with NF may also suffer from seizures, learning disabilities, scoliosis, cancer, and much more. It appears equally in all races, genders, and affects approximately 1 in 2,500 births worldwide. There are 3 types of NF. NF1, NF2, and schwannomatosis. This blog is dedicated to raising awareness and promoting what we do here at NF Midwest. NF Midwest covers Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, Indian, Kentucky, and the Eastern half of Missouri but you do not have to be from those regions to keep up with us!! Our office is located in Illinois and this blog will be mostly run by the admin and social media assistant who also has NF1. We hope you follow, learn, and maybe get involved!
