Just spent some time going through some of my old favorite blogs on here (@booksncoffee, @stylishmuser, @nightingiall, @wokeuptired, @niallersdirtylaundry to name a few) and I am feeling crushed by the changes.

I turn 26 this year. I’ll be applying to a residency this year, and I’ll find out whether or not I get in this year, too. My future is being determined as I type this. But even as that future is being written, I can’t help but look back at the past, to the girl who just loved Niall Horan and One Direction so much.

I was reading through those blogs every day when I still planned to be an author. And even when those plans changed and became geared towards healthcare, tumblr was a safe space to be creative.

I see patients now and I’m working so hard in dental school. I haven’t written a story or even a few words with a creative intent in months, if not over a year at minimum. I think that’ll change once I’m done with school; maybe even in residency I’ll have more time.

I really do try and honor my past. She made me into who I am today, and will be the foundation of me for the rest of my life. Thank you to her, and to those blogs and so many others who helped form me.

And hey, I do still love Niall Horan and One Direction. Maybe you’ll get a new fic out of me in the future.

Anon recently had a conversation with a friend and found out both had been to funerals for classmates or cousins before they turned 20, while it seems a lot of people of similar ages have only lost much-older relatives, if anyone. Since death– especially at young ages– isn't talked about very much in some cultures, anon would like to know how common this experience is.
