I've been cooking on a ttrpg project thing and i tried basing it on 2d6 rolls with basically no knowledge of how Disco Elysium actually works behind the scenes and i not only came to similar conclusions as the game about how the chances should be organized, I also came up with nearly the same naming scheme independently of it and only differed slightly because I realized in the end that I was doing almost the exact same thing it did. I was going to say this is because DE is just a really fucking good and intuitively designed game but there's a wealth of better and more obvious examples so extrapolate whatever the fuck you want from this ig.

#idk if this is really a hottake but the gameplay of DE is crazy good as a system to build on with your own shit.#and its a shame that other games generally steal from its stylistic notes instead of its ludological ones.#disco elysium #game design #<i guess #ttrpg
