—he laughs at the face that she makes, looking adorable nonetheless; and beautiful, mind you, she always looks beautiful. and he is looking to tease her some more. shrugs one shoulder and breathes an ehh somewhat dismissively to show that he doesn’t quite agree with her, nor finds the notion as gross and disturbing as he, according to her, should. “what else?” he questions, looking down at her with a smirk, an eyebrow arched in a smug little manner. though the interest in his tone is genuine.

[ Amphelice has just gotten back home from her part-time job at the flower shop, slipping into the kitchen for a moment to drink a cold glass of water then toeing her way up the stairs to her bedroom, happy with all the little tiny succulents and cacti she's brought home with her, itching to plant them in her new silver pots she got from the little antique store downtown; she peels her woolen cardigan off with a soft sigh, and pulls her hair down, dark curls spilling off her messy bun atop her head as she sits on the edge of her bed, half out of breath and anxiously reaching for her phone to check for any messages or calls, when his texts come through and she is squealing light and airy, a strong jolt of excitement sweeping through her belly at once; she exhales, drops her phone on the mattress in her haste, and then, she is biting her lower lip hard, unable to contain her joy as she reads through his texts, a little frown ultimately forming between her delicate brows; she feels a little twinge in his heart at the thought of him all cold and lonely away from her, like someone pinching and twisting at it, and worry comes flooding in like the tide, making her frown harder now, remembering just how out of it he had been for a day after coming back home to her from Hell Week-- how he had barely been able to warm up, even after piling half a dozen blankets on top of him;]

Lis: OH MY GOD six hours in the ocean are you sailors OKAY? 😧😲

Lis squeals sweetly at his groping her, combing her teeth over her lower lip coyly as he squeezes her to him, her pulse racing; god–she’s missed him so bad, she’s been going crazy without him, and having him back home, even just for the weekend, is making her heart swell with unimaginable joy and affection, all the chambers of it alight and pounding with the ferocity of her feelings, leaving her dizzy and melting from the inside out for how he makes her feel. “mhm, yeah…you’ve been acting seriously macho ever since you graduated BUD/S, me thinks… You can just see the testosterone coming off you in waves, sailor,” she makes a mock face of disgust while the mood begins to grow more tender, her fingers soothingly scratching and massaging random places at the small of his back as she presses herself flush to him, all warm and soft and shaking with excitement; her cheeks, too, appear all rosy now, and she is sighing, soft and light and airy, making a cooing little noise at the kiss, her lips slurring slow and loving over his, fingers curling tenderly around the back of his neck, keeping him as close to her as she can. “–mm, me too, baby…so much, so much…” she whispers, voice silky soft and dripping in affection, tipping her chin up to press sweet, playful kisses across his cheek and chin, sighing through her quiet and warm laughter, her skin all flushed and hot to the touch and every last inch of it tingling with a heavenly sensation at his caresses, the long-craved for intimacy he lavishes her with. “–it’s soufflé… extra cheese for my baby…” she lilts, all too taken by the sight of him all wet and tall and muscled, feeling the hard swell of his chest pressed up against the curve of her breasts and swooning, heat flooding her cheeks and neck, mouths brushing as he speaks, making a little shiver go through her. “–how was your shower, mm?” she exhales, rosy-faced and biting at her bottom lip, a coy, sweet little thing, standing on tip-toe now to smooch him again, giggling softy. “good?”  she affectionately drags her fingers through the wet strands of hair at the back of his neck, pressing a little kiss to the underside of his jaw. 

—he suffers from serious, life threatening symptoms of Lis withdrawal when he cannot be around her most of the time (let us not forget that Nicholas does love being at both the receiving and the giving end of affection when it comes to his girl, and even more so, he craves her attention and actively seeks for it —aka complains, subtly— when he has been denied of it for a while). having her here like this now is heart mending. it fills him with the kind of happiness that only she brings into his life. the way she kisses him makes him lose his head in it, how her little hands move about his back and face, into his hair. he has missed this; just loving, tender touches of intimacy. just to be like this with her. holding her. kissing her. god, going on a deployment will be a killer, he already knows it. and then another. but he will have time to worry about that later on, when time comes, for right they are right here; his arms around her, holding her as close to him as it is possible, her lips on his, her hands in his hair. the sweet, girlish giggles that fall from her lips, the endearing looks she shots his way, has his stomach tied up in knots. only she does this, he thinks, making him fall in love with her over and over again, every single day, with everything about her. and just always feel so giddy and happy with her, even with the smallest thing like a mere look or a hint of a teasing smile. this woman breathes life into him and he couldn’t have been luckier in life. “look at you....” he marvels, looking her up and down. “you grow prettier by the second, babe...I swear!” he laughs. how is it possible that she is so beautiful both inside and out is beyond him. but what he really cannot grasp, is how someone like her can be so in love with someone like him. luckiest man in the whole world award goes to him, no doubt. she tells him about the food and he hums in appreciation, leans in to press a quick kiss on her lips. and then another. and another. and many, many more. “I really missed your cooking, to be honest.” nothing compares with what his girls makes for him, let’s be frank. and extra cheese? well, she knows him way too well. and the thought makes him laugh a a little, fondly. arms still wrapped around her, tightly, a smirk forms on his lips. his head tilts, mouth pressing against the side of her neck, trailing kisses down the length of it. teeth grazing the skin lightly. “it was good....but if you had joined me, it would have been great...” and though his tone is overly flirtatious and playful, voice low, just above the whisper, he does mean it. everything is better with her, anyway. “but I am just so glad to have you all to myself for the weekend, baby....” teeth sink into the side of her neck. he sucks a faint mark there. his grip tightening once more on her small frame.

She laughs, sweet and tender, when he picks her up and spins her about, wrapping her arms around his neck and smiling, that breathless, dizzy smile that makes her eyes glitter with joy, all soft and blue and tender, lingering on the curve of his mouth, those sweet, little dips in his cheeks that set her heart racing wildly, marvels at the sunlight caught in those eyes, the gold of his lashes–god– god, how she loves him; deep, raw, true– how she adores every little thing about him, she thinks as they tumble into the weedy grass, pulling him along, and she is giggling warmly, playfully, touching her nose to his and lilting a playful little “mmm, yeah? sounds so serious…”, as she settles on their little blanket, coyly picking up a sour cherry and licking at it before feeding it to him, leaning in with a dizzied, warm smile and slurring a long, wet kiss over his mouth, all sighs and eyes round with affection, saying now through her laughter, “–I’m all ears, sailor…as you well know,” voice drenched in that silky, airy tone she uses for him and only him, wondering at the birds above and the tilt of the cypress branches, the perfume of columbine at the river edge, the swollen scent of it, all sweet and warm and dewy, feeling happier than she has in weeks now, heart bursting with joy and excitement at the sight of him all soft and bright and golden in the sunlight, the little lipstick mark she left earlier over the rise of his cheekbone, making her giggle every time she catches sight of it. She lifts her hand to his face and strokes at it now, brushing it away, rubs at his cheek affectionately, fingers trailing over the dips and contours of chin and jaw and temple, tucking short, golden strands of hair behind his ear and scratching lovingly, her heart all warm and tight and swollen with emotion; god, she loves him, she does; she loves him so much, it makes her every inch shake with it, has never loved anything in her life like she loves him, and being here, with him, like this, is making her belly flip with the force of her pulse, all wild and fierce and racing with love, love, love–god, she’s so filled up with her love of him, she is overflowing, every part of her aching for him, like it’s the only thing in the world for her ( and, it is ) and in the moments that follow, she is smiling brighter, breathless, leaning in closer with a little coy sigh and kissing his forehead, mapping his hairline with her mouth. “mmm…my baby…” she sighs cutely, holds his face in her hands, thumbs brushing over his cheekbones, so close that the golden scatter of freckles on her fair brow blurs as she tips her chin up and kisses under his left eye, then his right, soft and adoring, her breath like the brush of her mouth over his skin. “come on…ask away,”  their foreheads touch and she bumps their noses together a little, grinning softly as she peers up at him through dark lashes. 

—seeing her like this makes his heart burst with pure bliss; the satisfaction it brings to be the reason, even for a tiny bit part of it, for her to smile like that. that wonderful, bright smile that reaches her eyes, makes them shine even brighter. the kind of smile that could light up the whole wide world. everything they have been through together has led them up to this very moment, this very decision; both the good and the bad times, the easy ones and the hard ones. there are things that she does for him that he doesn’t think that anyone else ever could do. even without knowing that she does them, most of the time. she has helped him become a better person, overall, and all that he is, it is because of her and the way she loves him. always so proud of him, ready to give him advice and listen to him, never there to judge but to support him through thick and thin. she is the best partner he could ever have, the one person that understands him without words. and Nicholas had never been overly romantic before her (not even a bit, it was never his thing), but she has changed that entirely; she is his soulmate, and he believes that with his whole heart, that they were meant to be, otherwise he cannot explain how is it possible that they work so well together, even if one wouldn’t quite expect for this to happen, given the good girl, bad boy vibes they give off. and yet, he thinks there is not a man that’s sappier than him when it comes to him girl. she makes him feel all kinds of happy and proud. the way she looks at him does this thing to him, where his stomach feels like butterflies are flapping their wigs in there, flips and his heart beats a whole lot faster. and he feels not just happy with her, but also safe. safe to be himself with her. safe to open up and be vulnerable. there is not a thing he withholds from her; he is honest and truthful, open, speaks freely of both his emotions and thoughts. and yes, she might tease him at times, but she does it in good nature. and he does like it, alright. just like he does when there are just the two of them, where he can hoard her from the world and take care of her, show her just how much he loves her, what she means to him. where he can bask in her affections and attentions, unending. just like he does right now, able to enjoy the feel of her loving touch, caressing his face. and he is a sucker for this, no doubt. a smile tugs on his lips and he leans his head into her touch, kisses the palm of her hand. she is prompting him to go on and say it, teasing him all the while. laughter falls from his lips. a fond, teasing smug grin adorning his handsome face. she looks like she walked right out of a book; bathed into the golden sunlight, little red flower weaved into her hair, eyes big and round and shining brighter than the sky, their blue mesmerizing, drawing you in. he is so damn lucky, so lucky to have her, to be able to call her his. without further ado, and not wishing to tease her and keep her waiting, he takes her hands in his, sits on both of his knees, facing her. “look, baby, I know we have spoken of this....” he begins, still holding both of her warm, dainty little hands into his own, giving them a light squeeze as he continues. “and you know that you are the love of my life. you are my life. my whole wide world. I don’t see a future without you in it and I don’t want to even think of a time when we might not be together.” there is a small pause, momentarily as he gives her a smile and holds her gaze. “I am and will forever be in love with you and will always love you. and some might argue that I can’t know that, and though I would normally agree, but with you I know it is nothing other than the truth. I know that there will never come a day that I won’t be proud of you, that I won’t be happy to wake up next to you and fall asleep holding you in my arms. I love you like I have never loved anyone and like I will never love anyone. you are and always will be the most important person in my life. so...” his heart is beating faster, but he is not nervous; he knows that she won’t ever oppose his question, she would not turn him down. but he is still excited to be doing this; extremely happy to be doing this right, like she deserves. happy to be getting down to one knee now before her, pulling out a ring. “Amphelice Marie Dufort,” his tone holds a serious tone, though there is a still a hint of playfulness, a smile tugging on either corner of his lips. “will you do me the extraordinaire honor of becoming my wife and spending the rest of your life with me?” eyes fixed on her, heart beating close to burst with all the love that he houses for her.

[ she dissolves into a bout of sweet, fond laughter, eyes crinkling with it as she reads through his last text, and suddenly, she is aching for him, a surge of powerful emotion sweeping through her, and she is drowning in it, feeling it choke her up for how in love she is with him–how she misses him, like she’s half a person without him; like she will die if she won’t see him. Sighing shakily, she swallows down the lump of emotion that’s formed in her throat and wipes at her eyes with the back of her hand, heart swelling with affection now, smiling wetly, feeling Rose pat her knee gently as she pulls into the parking lot behind the little burger joint they are gonna be dining at, slipping out of the car with a quiet “I’ll get us a table” to offer her a moment of privacy– and god, it’s just a little gesture, a small thing, really, but it makes fresh tears well up in her eyes, and she is exhaling sharply through her watery smile, letting herself just breathe for a moment as she texts him back ]

[ Lis ] you are a total idiot, you know that? 

[ Lis ] I love you so much. so much. you are the very life of me, baby 

[ Nic ] I need you a lot and for a good various reasons....and yeah, I am, baby, I promise. I am doing my very, absolute best!! and I do take care of myself, don’t you worry!

[ Nic ] I always think about that, because missing you is SUPER FUCKING HARD!!!! it is impossible, even! and it is, like...my weakness, because everything else I can do and pull off and get used to, but missing you is always so damn hard and I cannot get used to it (and don’t want to, frankly)

She sighs, warm and loving, then giggles sweetly at him, at how sweet and soft and loving he is being with her, golden sunlight spilling over her bright eyes, face crinkling with laughter. Her dark, curly hair cascading to her lower back blows gently in the breeze and she snuggles closely against his bodily warmth, making a soft little sound and squeezing at his hands around her, feeling the muscles ripple under her fingertips and a jolt of shivery heat shoot right through her. She has tiny red roses in her hair, behind her left ear, picked from the mouth of the river and fashioned into a loose crown as they hiked up the trail, and she is tipping her head back over the peak of his shoulder and closing her eyes with a little sigh, feeling her skin tingle with warmth where he is touching her, wanting to soak up the way he is making her feel, all warm and sweet and molten, like she is melting; like her stomach is all liquid, flipping over, and she is trembling, thinking about the tender of him, the warm, soft hollow of him and how he softens, for her, how he melts; it makes her lose her breath, and she is mewling, sweet and breathless, squeezing harder at his hands and whispering a soft little mm, it’s so perfect… and then, Nic…I’m so happy…, opening her eyes and peering up at him through silky, dark lashes, her face all soft and sun-kissed, freckles spilling over her nose and cheekbones, a stray curl sticking to her left cheek. “I missed doing this with you…it’s been a while…” she smiles fondly, thumb stroking over the back of his palm adoringly as she gazes up at him, eyes sparkling. “–I love you so much!” she exhales through her fond and airy laughter, dipping her mouth and stealing a long, sloppy kiss, her nose bumping against the jut of his chin softly, and then another, heart brimming over, spine unloosening, all soft and warm and out of breath, grinning dizzily up at him. 

—the whole demeanor of hers screams an innocence, something entirely endearing, something he has never seen in anyone before! she oozes elegance, dripping with grace, and in her presence one can sense the kindness and calmness, a goodness in her heart that is impossible to find easily in anyone else. intelligent and wise beyond her years. and then, she is extremely beautiful. she is stunning looking and it is not an exaggeration to say that she is the world’s most beautiful human being; inside and out. Nicholas might be a trouble maker, but he is no fool; he knows that he has hit jackpot with her. a girl who he is entirely taken with, a whole lot in love with, someone he cannot imagine his life without and the single person he would do absolute anything for, even at his own expense. it is a fact that he is not the easiest person to be with. surely, he does have his own issues going about, but since they have been together she has been making everything so much better. she has made his life so much more worth living for, made him a better person. she gives him a reason to smile every day, and though he has messed the fuck up before, there is not a thing he regrets more than hurting her, betraying her trust and having lied to her all along, up to the point she found out the truth. he doesn’t deserve her, she is far too good for him but, man, does he love and need her in his life! living without her, just the very thought of it, makes his heart ache and sink in a way it never does for anything else. like he would miss a part of him. a future without her in it, is one he doesn’t want to live to see. many would say, her mom included, that this is just a passing thing, they will grow out of it eventually and she will find someone else, as will he. however, this is not the case with them. they are not the cliche American high-school sweethearts, either. he will never grow tired of being with her. he will never get sick of waking up next to her and falling asleep with her in his arms. and he knows that it is the same for her. they will always be in love. they will always love one. right now, he holds her tighter against him. feeling the warmth of her body oozing off of her. her familiar, sweet scent makes him smile. hearing her declaring how happy she is, how she has missed him (something he already knew of, but doesn’t hurt to hear anyway) makes his heart beat faster. for what is worth, if anything, if he could be good at one thing, that would be making her happy and being able to put a smile on her face, all the time if he can! “I love you too, baby...” he whispers in return, squeezing her to him. hard. she is kissing him and he laughs, softly and fondly. picks her up the second time. her hair spill into his face for a moment before coming to fall on either side of his face. “baby...” his voice low, as he lowers her to the ground. “there is something I have to ask you...” he continues. even though they have spoken of it, that doesn’t mean that he is not all about going right about it, doing things like they should be done.

Lis: and anyway we'll be getting married soon, I don't see how I'd ever want to live away from my HUSBAND to get a degree I could easily get here 😊

[ giggles sweetly, feeling her pulse swell and her skin prickle with warmth at their playful banter-- god, she's missed him; she'd do anything to be able to smooch him all over right now, and knowing that she won't be able to touch him for another week is driving her absolutely crazy, leaving her itching with her need for him; a thirst that no matter what she does she can't ever quench ]

Nic: also...I just thought, we need to get back into me teaching you how to properly use a gun and shoot one. just in case since you will be living alone for most of the time

Nic: oh, I am excited to be helping you to get into that little apartment, baby girl! can't wait! I am so happy you got into the university you wanted and I can still have you close!!

Nic: then we should be looking into getting out own home! somewhere nice, not too far from everything, because wouldn't want to worry all the time when I am away on missions or a deployment

She’s half distracted by the dinner she’s supposed to be cooking while Nic is in the shower, humming a little happy song under her breath and smiling to herself, her good mood evident in her face and voice, all soft and sweet and bright with affection. Unsurprisingly, her mind’s started to wander – which she can thank, in large part, her boyfriend for: he’s visiting, and she can’t keep her mind ( and hands ) off him. She’s even stealing miserable, impatient looks at the general direction of their bathroom, itching to see and touch him again, and when she hears him switch the water off, she is smiling warmly, twirling around and bending over to place the pan in the oven, blowing a little at the steam that pours in her face when she pulls the door open; and that’s when he sneaks up on her, leaving her half breathless, half startled, big blue eyes crinkling with laughter. “Nic!“ his name is half-squeak, half-playful indignation as she whips around to shove into him affectionately. “Seriously? Just because I’m wearing a skirt!
