Anthony Bourdain didn’t capture our hearts and minds because of the way that he talked about food. It was because he was always really talking about people, human connection, and the exchange of culture. Picky eating was akin to arrogance and insult in his mind. If someone served something to you, you ate it and appreciated it. Maybe it’s a hard stance, but being raised Roman Catholic these sentiments hit me somewhere deep. It’s a tragedy to lose anyone to suicide, but to lose someone who touched so many hearts is a uniquely terrible experience.
