āTsundere personality? Fuck you, Matt,ā Melloās eyes narrowed as he gave the other a jab in the side with his elbow.Ā āIām a Goddamn pleasure to be around.ā
Truth be told, Mello was not an easy person to get along with. He was brash and impulsive, often times he was overly emotional. Mello felt things on a very deep level - he often cared too much. Matt knew that, but he never used it against him.

ā Are you jealous? ā
Lips freely let loose a snicker--he likes those little displays of...jealousy, if you could call them that. Itās always refreshing and amusing to see Mello struggle to get his attention, he thinks. Matt is absent minded and likes to focus solely on one thing at the time--his videogames are generally the center of his attention, mainly because barely anything else manages to challenge him paired with his behavior of self isolation, he doesnāt have much else to care about. Of course without such distractions here, he will have to shift his priorities radically... At first the idea is surreal, but upon reuniting with Mello maybe itās in fact a blessing in disguise. Heāll get to spend more time with the other only thing--or person--that matters to him, without anything getting in the way. No Kira, no Near, no bullshit. Just the two of them.

āAn apartment, eh? I see - getting yourself special treatment. Iāll just hope that this hut crap isnāt that terrible, though if Iām being honest Iām recalling images of early mesoamerican huts that we studied at Wammyās. Do you remember when we had to make those stupid dioramas of the different ancient homes? Too bad Nearās wasnāt waterproofā¦ā Mello said with a smirk, recalling a fond childhood memory that involved inflicting havoc on an otherwise innocent Near. āI canāt believe the teacher let him do it over.. what a joke.ā

ā Yeah, that shit was boring as hell. ā Though the blondeās wistful musing of the past incites a slight feeling of gratification and yearning for the bloodless and amicable days of his childhood, he replies with a deadpan expression. ā That reminds me though--you were always good at crafting shit havenāt you? Glad you got something to make up for that terrible tsundere personality of yours. ā He expects a heated reply, body moving towards their destination in a calm motion.Ā
ā Well, if thereās of any consolation, my sector is pretty much the worst. ā Green eyes roll in annoyance as he sighs. ā Itās horrible--and itās got the loudest people. Fuck Delta. But I heard the longer you stay here the more privileges you get--so maybe I can get like, my own house and get my videogames back. Now thatād be sweet.
It works like a charm every time though, doesnāt it? ā The pride is more than evident in the sly smile plastered all over his face--a lot of satisfaction is gained by the impish and unsubtle advances that would always prompt some kind of hesitance or embarrassed response by Mello. He always found his aversion to be affectionate somewhat endearing, though it could admittedly get irritating at times in more vulnerable situations. But he was alright with it. It was Mello after all. His actions always spoke louder than his words.
Though that didnāt mean he couldnāt have a little fun teasing him.
ā And you know Mel, you are kind of terrible at hiding how you really feel. If you keep up with that attitude Iāll just drop you off and never talk to you again. āĀ
PSA: i am very slow with replies & i tend to be selective with the ones i do. i may or may not have the muse for it. please donāt think i am ignoring you or dropped the thread because i probably have it saved in my drafts. Ā thanks for understanding. (ļ¾āć®ā)ļ¾*:dļ¾ā§

āNearās not here?ā the blonde nodded, looking up at his best friend. āGood, at least thatās one person that wonāt bother me, the fuck. Is there⦠anyone else we know?ā Mello questioned. The two didnāt know many, but there were a few that could possibly be walking around Hive City. Theyād known a couple people - it would be interesting if someone were to appear.
āThree weeks?ā Mello frowned. He couldnāt imagine Matt being stuck here by himself for three weeks. Not that he couldnāt handle it, no - it just was Matt was so damn anti-social that Mello knew he probably didnāt Ā go out that much. Not that Mello would want to, either, but he had once managed to control some of the most hostile people on the west coast; suffice to say, he had slightly higher social skills than the other did.

He shakes his head slightly in response to his question. ā Not that Iām aware of. But people arrive and leave faster that you can blink so Iām sure weāre bound to see someone at one point. ā The idea of dealing with people from his past--particularly reuniting with old āfriendsā from Wammyās since those were the only people heās had some degree of contact with all his life before leaving the familiar orphanage and shutting himself in his own personal little hideout left him majorly indifferent. They had never meant much to him anyway, otherwise he would have found a way to contact them at some point in his life. He mentally disregards that future prospect with ease--ā Letās not bother with that for now.
Whatās with that frown? You look surprised. Donāt think I would make it without you? ā Despite the laid back, whimsical tone to his voice suggesting that heās simply playing around in his typical fashion, thereās some degree of truth to the blondeās surprise because, to be completely honest, Matt was feeling pretty damn miserable without him--but heās going to leave that particular fact to rest. He doesnāt want to give Mello any reason to mock him or fuel his pride. He returns the equally complacent grin, though he mutters the next few words without an ounce of guilt or shame. ā Find? More like stole but you know, same shit. A smokerās gotta do what it takes to survive here.Ā
you're gay
ā Youāre right about that.
Mello says hi. ā

Melloās brows furrowed farther, nodding at the otherās words. Of course Matt wouldnāt hold a grudge against him, but that didnāt mean Mello would forgive himself. He pushed the thought out of his head - heād have plenty of time to replay the events over and over again when he was alone. For now, heād settle with returning the otherās smile.
āYou know, for a few minutes you were famous,ā Mello scoffed, his smile growing slightly wider. āYou were on television: āarmed and dangerousā they called you. Sounds a lot cooler than saying āsome jackass with a smoke gunā. I saw it when I was taking the our captive to that old abandoned church,ā he said nonchalantly, as if the topic didnāt bother him. Briefly, he wondered if Mattās body had scars from where the bullets passed through him, or if these people had fixed him up completely.
āI canāt say I really enjoyed getting shot to death, but thereās nothing we can do it about now, is there?ā

Armed and dangerous.Ā āThat sure makes me sound a lot cooler than I actually am. ā Matt lets out a jesting cackle before he continues. ā...I didnāt even plan on hurting any of them, I even surroundered to stall for time. āĀ
Itās always astonishing to see how much the media twists reality in order to appease Kira and install fear into the hearts of citizens as if theyāre nothing but mere dogs that should be taking orders from an unknown person playing God. Thatās not law. Thatās not justice. Thatās nothing short of mass murder, of cruelty, of abuse. Heās never been too vocal about his opinion regarding Kira and his legion of supporters--but this particular wrongdoing always managed to incite a small groan in disgust from him.

Ā Ā Ā The hive city horror sounds an a little more like a rumor and a joke than something she should have to worry about ā but this heat is something else entirely. Her sweatshirt hangs loosely over one shoulder and sheās about to hightail it out of there when one of the sleeves gets caught on something. She deadpans, recoiling at both the black tree and the huge mass of saltwater not far from her. Itās only come up once or twice, but⦠the āseaā doesnāt exactly look like what she imagined.Ā
Despite a mental complaint that clouds her head, Annieās partially grateful that someoneās sitting close by where she has to tug her sleeve away from. Her eyes drift back to the waves, barely regarding the other when she speaks up.Ā āThis⦠is really it?ā
Itās the first time the redhead sets foot on the menacing beach--heās not one to leave his apartment freely unless itās to smoke a cigarette (and sometimes he will do it inside in complete disregard for his roommates!), but the heat wave engulfing the city has proven to be rather insufferable and drastic, and drastic situations call for drastic measures. And to him, drastic measures are synonym of walking around in a tank top and venturing outside the comfort of his sector.
Of course, the beach isnāt what he expects it to be at all--heās never really been to one before, but upon discovering the existence of a certain deadly creatured called the hive city horror--which in his opinion is a reluctant nickname since he considers the city to be a horror in itself--he canāt help chuckle out of pure disbelief yet predictability--of course, here you canāt get anything good without the possibility that it might get you killed. Way to keep shit interesting, he thinks.
Though if you keep your distance and guard up, it shouldnāt be that bad--or at least he hopes. His gaze trails from the crystal clear waves to the nonchalant and unnterested iblonde sitting beside him, unsure if her question was aimed at him.
ā Could be worse, everything else considered.Ā
Itās been days, isnāt it about time their fucking cooling system starts working again? ā The latter is more of an exasperated display of exhaustion from the excruciating heat accompanied by a sigh than anything else. He doesnāt even feel like smoking, which is a rarity for him.
Really, the whole display was pretty pitiful, but, she let out a laugh anyway. It felt nice to laugh, even under these screwed up circumstances.
āThanks.ā
Howād she quit? She paused for a moment, thinking on how to explain.
ā ⦠My dad caught me when I was younger, he was so mad, I just sorta quit cold turkey. Every time Iād light up, Iād just think about how upset he was about, and the guilt got to me.ā
A small nod is given as the redhead stands silent for a few minutes, listening intently to her story.
So guilt made her stop. A feeling heās not familiar with.
"I canāt relate. Iāve never had any parental figure telling me what to do or not, so Iāve always done my own thing. Not really a blessing as some might think... So I kind of envy you. āĀ
