my stance on the trans athlete debate is always and forever going to be that sports should be completely desegregated because humans have one of the smallest levels of sexual dimorphism in the animal kingdom and the disparity we see between male and female performance is entirely caused by social factors rather than anything biological. “should trans women compete against cis women” i think cis men and cis women could compete fairly but that’s apparently a little too spicy for people to wrap their minds around bc they’ve been told their whole lives women are biologically inferior & never thought to question that. or wonder if it’s maybe a self fulfilling prophecy of some kind. are women biologically inferior or do they appear so because patriarchy demands that of us?

a health policy paper has been published saying the name is officially updated to polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome (PMOS)

polyendocrine= multiple endocrine factors

metabolic = affecting/affected by metabolism

ovarian = from the ovaries

essentially, instead of using the symptomatic term (many people with PMOS do not develop cysts) the new term widens the diagnostic area and makes it easier to diagnose, treat, and do research on people with PMOS (even atypical types, such as no cysts).

it may seem like a waste of time to change a name instead of focusing on research, but for a lot of medical professionals a name can be associated with a hard set collection of symptoms, so the name needs to change to acknowledge that the disorder is not well understood and has a broader, subtler, and often missed set of symptoms. for example ADD is considered an antiquated/unused term, and now comes under the ADHD umbrella. in healthcare names and terminology changes all the time, and this is a positive change. your local healthcare professional may not know about this unless theyre really up on the news though!

maybe I'm just a boring he/him white guy but inventing about 7 trillion terms to define "man" and "woman" so you can reinforce gender essentialism isn't very "love is love" of you. maybe i just don't have a sexuality but picking and choosing what sexualities are normal and which ones are "weird and predatory" sounds like we're all a bunch of republicans on fox news. if you attend your local pride parade and look REAAALLLYYY closely, you'll notice you can't actually tell if someone's gay or not from their appearance, and there's no way to know if they're "invading queer spaces". maybe it's just me, but when i attended my local gaybar last night for the drag show, they didn't ask for my gay-card with a peer reviewed diagnosis of faggot stamped on it. they just let me in the building. i live a life of bliss and luxury in not caring about any queer discourse ever, and just going "WHATEVER MAKES YOU HAPPY :-)" while booting up the latest cod game. and it seems much more fun than whatever the fuck you people are on about

Just a note, if you ever try to use me as a "is this who you want in women's bathrooms" gotcha, I am blocking your ass. Especially when it's on one of my trans joy selfies and you're openly courting an argument with transphobes. I'm the one who has to read all the resulting bullshit.

Please stop fantasizing about scenarios in which trans men make cis women uncomfortable, when it's the trans man who ultimately suffers. Your fantasy will IRL end up with the assault and likely arrest of the trans man. This is already happening when trans guys try to comply with new bathroom laws.

All you're doing is reinforcing that there is a certain "look" required for being in gendered spaces (congrats for throwing butches under the bus, btw).

And if you're fantasizing about trans men in the women's bathroom, are you also putting trans women in the men's room to further invoke cis discomfort? When trans women's risk of assault in any bathroom is already sky-high?

All while the transphobes don't want trans people in *any* bathroom. Or anywhere else in public.

I am so tired of this argument, because among the "allies" in my life, me passing so well has made them lazy and complacent about pushing back against the bathroom stuff.

All this when you could instead be promoting better bathroom setups to begin with (fully enclosed stalls, etc.). Or, you know, trying to move beyond gender essentialism.
