when my english teacher was teaching frankenstein last year all i could think of when the creature was described as "a horrifying thing made of beautiful parts" was how that paralleled with genAI. like, a thing made of beautiful things, torn apart and shoved together with no regard for the care that went into or the context surrounding the originals. it comes out horrifying and eerie, viscerally wrong (the creature, how ai has tells in how it cant replicate perfectly) and different to things made through love and care (the effort the body spends making a whole ass person, actual art). idk, you get it

also Green Light was the best. jumping around and singing with random strangers has been the highlight of my teenage years so far

Her speech before Liability crushed meee. She talked about the long winters she experienced as a teen, walking around with her headphones on, having “dreams of the wider world” and how she felt “very tucked away in a corner” and how one day she would “get out there and see it all, and do it all” and as someone who lives in a small town that hit me like a trainnnn.

However, Lorde then went onto say that whats out there is cool, but she hasn’t had a long, cold, winter in a while.

Whats out there is OBVIOUSLY way cooler than the things around me, but these are moments which should be appreciated too! I really really hate this place, but if Lorde is telling me to love this place then I will I guess…
