Though this one's a little over two years old - I'm sure you'll like it.
I'll be the narrator - third person, with no connection to the story.
This is a story of a beautiful love in NC - one that ended in a bloody brawl in Heywood.
A love between a corpo and a static nomad that lasted nearly 7 years. They dreamed of many things. The corpo dreamed of genuine love, while the nomad was nothing but a monster of a burden, using the corpo as their personal wallet.
It doesn't really matter what went down in their relationship - but here's the thing: that goddamn nomad scumbag turned out to be from the Wraiths gang, exiled for pedophilia and bestiality. The poor corpo found out when the bastard betrayed them yet again. They broke up… but the nomad "stalked" them for almost a month, until the corpo anonymously set the nomad up with a fake gig - steal some parts from the Valentinos.
The nomad tech, always up for a free score, took the bait and showed up. Except during the theft, they ran into a tech from the gang. A well-known and respected one among the Valentinos.
This empty-headed nomad, desperate to get the stolen goods, shot the tech dead. And walking out of the building, they realized how badly they'd fucked up.
The rest of the crew heard the shots and rushed over. They caught the nomad red-handed with the stolen gear.
Of course, no one just walks away from that. Especially the Valentinos - they'd never let something like that slide. The nomad was beaten to death, then taken apart piece by piece into trash bags, like a broken toy. As they say - you steal, you become the stolen.
And the corpo? Living happily. Though when they found out the nomad had killed a Valentino tech, they tore themselves up over it. Probably still do.
Chooms, the streets of Night City are full of stories like this.
Massacres, murders born of jealousy, betrayals, lies, cyberpsycho attacks, gang wars, and we could go on.
It crossed our minds whether this could have any connection to the mysterious netrunner once known as Wraith. We might be wrong here — this is just speculation, just us thinking out loud in the newsroom.
One thing's for sure. If you move in circles like this, trust no one. Especially not the one lying in your bed.
But we're human, first and foremost, and we crave love. So it's impossible not to trust the person we rest our heads next to at night.
