‘ click, click, ’ an audible sequence of metallic gears folding into proper alignment ; bolts gyrating as a screw driver nudges itself a little more betwixt the layer of carbon-coated wires underneath a positioned titanium plate resembling unnaturally smooth skin. that which is built to resemble a humanoid deltoid, almost does look like sinew under a layer of forged skin. fiddling with the hefty semi-automated prosthetic is his own way of finding an appropriate balance ; in conclusion, though---- it doesn’t actually matter, as it will never truly replace his biological arm ( no matter how talented the engineer, nor how singed it is to his spliced nerves and lymph nodes ) for a while, they don’t bother to respond. the only reply is various scrapes of metal on metal. citrine eyes lowered, expression vacant of any emotion at all. to those that didn’t know him well ; his body language and utter deponent behavior could’ve been a bit---- unnerving. ‘ click, click---- wrrr----! ’ index finger twitching, the oracle is finally able to move his hand upward. flexing each digit to the half-knuckle ( a simplistic feat that had taken him three months, much less making an actual fist---- or even holding his glasses ) their eyes finally turn towards the professional hero. ❝ you always ask questions you already know the answers to—- ❞ the seer murmured. ❝ it’s annoying. ❞ curt, as he’s always been. there’s a lot that the professional scene is: a mess, a catastrophe, a cesspool of toxicity. a sliver of hope. but there’s a part of him that refused to contribute to that charade ; if he was anything, it was unapologetically honest---- for the most part, at least. there’s some things best taken to the grave and buried alongside him. they shift a little in their seat, ignoring the bodily discomfort ( especially in his midsection ) as those all-seeing eyes seem to bore a set of twin holes into the hero. ❝ as far as i am concerned, my outside now matches my inside—- ❞ how many times has he been proven that his actions are utterly futile----? he had struggled to save the man he loved from a life of suffering, and his own quirk worked against him to salvage people in a way that somehow didn’t also condemn them in the process. even as a child, he had always felt like an anomaly, or a mistake ; and the only man that had made him think differently for a while was no different. like everyone else, he was doomed to tragedy, as life dictated. as fate spun a tale of imbued glory and sacrifice. ❝ so what do you think, hawks—-? ❞ the elusive inquiry is turned on them. ❝ what do you think i am worth—-? ❞ the currency is not specified. in honor, in popularity, in recognition---- absolution----?
He's making a mixture of a sullen expression, but trying not to show it. Somehow, he has mastered the art of being upset and distant at the exact same time. Leaning wordlessly against Tsunagu, muttering an apology for being so cold, recently.
@nightcye
after all these years, tsunagu prides himself on being able to detect the slight difference on the other’s face. an arm goes up to allow his hand to rest against daichiro’s head, affirming comfort and acceptance at the taller man’s actions. the mumble even teases a smile onto the fiber master’s face. hidden of course, but still there.
a moment passes before tsunagu is leaning some of his weight against his fellow pro, fingers gently combing through meticulously combed hair. never one to really sugar coat things ( a trait they shared and perhaps what they appreciated of the other ) tsunagu is quite aware how difficult of a person daichiro could be.
and while he is understanding, he’s not without feelings or a limit on patience. but the latter only rarely became a real issue. the blonde pulls back, just a bit, enough to look the other man in the eye, hand moving to cup his cheek and hold him steady.
“ i’ve endured worse storms, daichi. “ and it’s true. and meant as a sort of reassurance that he is still and will be here for the other. “ though i do wish you’d take up my offer for venting more often. “ his thumb taps once on the oracle’s cheek. “ even you can only bottle up so much, no matter much you believe otherwise. “ a softer smile takes over his features, visible from his eyes for the other, as his tone follows suit. “ spend the day with me, will you? or at least the rest of the afternoon. “ to do what exactly is up in the air. shopping. talking. watching all might documentaries. it doesn’t matter. as long as tsunagu can get him to just relax.
I will die for a second time. How does one die a second time? I hope it isn’t as painful and difficult as the first.

❝ that's good----! i had no intention of gracing your sorry ass with one, endeavor—- ❞ so despicable, honestly ; they continue to mince their words rather quickly, a display of which of them holds a semblance of dominion over the conversation. but the oracle has a few aces up his sleeves to deal with difficult individuals whom managed to clasp a position of gilded retribution. professional scenes are sticky situations ; they have to dance across the public stage as comrades, but dictators of a wavering opinion. ❝ we all get what we deserve in the end, i truly believe that—- ❞ a foreboding comment to say the least. perhaps a sense of karma isn’t too far from the truth, either----. ❝ the best of us learn to contort our various weakness into strengths. but you’re too feeble of a man to comprehend that, ❞ a scalding critique, indeed. whenever the duo spoke with one another it almost seemed as though they’ve been bordering some surreal form of futuristic foresight and a super-imposed realization. ❝ too weak to admit you’re delicate. too much of an imbecile to see your strength is temporary. and too pathetic to be strong—- ❞ and too full of fabrications to require apologies or acceptance. no one has ever managed to pressure this insufferable prick of a man to his breaking point, and the cerebral seer has made a pact with himself: he’ll be the one to shatter that glass ceiling. for the sake of others, and the title that will be passed down until the heir is prepared to retrieve it. they all have to carve their own path, he had attempted to teach that to the child all might had chosen as his successor. there will always be harsh words, painful realizations. you’ll be torn apart ; people are ruthless, a single misstep can cost a career. or black out the work done to protect others, they’re career is a thankless job ( as though funds can fill that voided sense of emptiness in a man’s or woman’s heart ) and most times it can ruin humility. seeing people as ‘ things ’ or ‘ a necessary aspect of the job ’ a hero as a ‘ item ’ or a simplistic ideology, even worse---- a hand reaches out to attempt to grasp the other at his nape. ❝ maybe i’ll accept your apology for not listening when you were supposed to when you’ve made yourself worth a moment my time—-? ❞ a slight tilt of their head. ❝ if you are still so inclined as to disagree with me, we could always take this tasteful discussion to your training area. ❞
Why are you so afraid of accepting the love other people have for you?

@rdriots—-!
for a moment they remind him of a younger mirio ; a similar tactic utilized to ‘ dig in ’ and see what someone was ‘ truly made out of. ’ alas, it is unfortunate that he is used to such individuals. people tend to pick one another apart to their bare bones, tinkering with little instruments and gears ( it is how the human race dissects and understands, gruesome nonetheless ) a scoff exited their partitioned lips. honestly, love in the eyes of a child is so simplistic and guarded. friendship, alliance, ardor—- even as a younger man he had known that it would’ve been taken away despite his best effort to conserve it. ❝ people are opportunists, child—- ❞ he replies with a nonchalant tone. ❝ they only care for someone about as long as they can utilize you towards their current, basic needs—- ❞ or, well, that is all the seer has known. after all, when someone ( such as himself ) can venture so far into the future ; a sense of tragedy becomes inescapable: all of these impromptu endings—-. unfulfilling conclusions—-? they know what it is like to feel both void of all purpose and drained to the point of collapse. ❝ we aren’t so special, child. humankind has always been a deeply flawed species and simply because we are heroes we’re not meant to be labeled differently—- ❞ he calmly reiterates. ❝ we all do what it takes to survive. and someday, everyone you know will meet someone far better than you. you’ll only be a memory in their mind and heart, if not anything else. teaching these individuals we once called our friends or loved ones how to get from point a to b. ❞ and sometimes, they wouldn’t want to remember. treating someone they once said they loved more than themselves like an effervescent shadow, a forgotten piece of a larger incomplete puzzle—-. memories and development were funny, truly—- how someone can omit a certain ‘ painful ’ degree for what they’ve considered ‘ the greater good. ’ maybe he is merely bitter ; but the oracle has gone so far as to protect whatever remains of themselves. this current course of a conversation shall be no different, it has the exact same conclusion. the exact same ‘ barrier ’ that even the professional’s close friends struggled in overcoming. ❝ if you still think it is possible to feel that way about someone else even after you’ve been through that—- well, you’re either a fool or a saint. i cannot say which future is worse in that particular case, ❞ although they can ultimately assume it is nothing too pleasant.

Atonement (2007) dir. Joe Wright
Misery was my element, and nothing but what was miserable could approach me;
Mary Shelley, from “Mathilda,” originally published c. October 1812 (via violentwavesofemotion)
naimitsuno.
a long, slow inhale is his first response, idly listening to the man’s words of cynicism for the world they lived in; the life they were forced to walk. it’s refreshing to hear someone who so equally mirrors his own thoughts, though. so often he finds himself feeling isolated in his vision – the jaded numbness to which he views his profession; the perversion of the way heroes were treated. washed out caricatures of anything the populous demanded. just characters to be acted out in public; no real substance behind them. the fans didn’t want to really know them.
they didn’t want the reality behind being a hero – the gritty pain, the nightmares, the horrors they had to see day to day. they wanted to see the glory or the sex appeal; objectify the young attractive pros and fantasize about them, and admire the absent glory of the older ones. there was no substance behind the public. nighteye was right – they signed over their right to be human when they agreed to be heroes. something else; an object – a figment of their desires and projection of what goodness could be, nothing more. hawks hated it; every bit of every public appearance he had to make was a forced act that he was getting tired of. at least nighteye didn’t even bother with appearances anymore – not the way hawks’ agency insisted.
‘ i figured since we’re working together we might as well get along outside of work. besides, i like you. ’ he says honestly, letting smoke seep out of his lips and float slowly up around winged amber eyes, encompassing feathered blonde hair with its scent. he turns to meet his gaze, a soft smirk curving his lips and he takes another pointed hit off his cigarette, the embers blazing off the end lighting up and casting soft shadows on his features. ‘ i know you’re trying to be standoffish, but i think we could both use a break from this case. let me buy you a drink. ’ he offers, head canting to the side, a casual attempt to lighten the dense mood they’d created.
he had taught others to remain true to who they really were, like mirio---- but at the tipping point, there’s no reason to deny who ( and what ) they are. ❝ hmph, anyone who boldly trusts another solely on their word deserves to get betrayed—- ❞ once you’ve accepted yourself, there’s nothing event he public can do to tarnish your soul. his is a titanium, cold casket ; bolted down into the depth of his chest. immobile, undeterred---- above all else, he is aware of what he had suffered. both in the past, present, and the future----. foresight isn’t even required in some respect, but the quirk continued to plague him with visions. there’s times during sleep he can’t tell the boundary between divination or meager stress and nightmares. questioning one’s own sight ; the foundation of reality, it is enough to cause a man or woman to break down into fragments. tears had filled his vision for all might, but the man had taught him what it was like to feel loss: to lose, despite having the tools required to win. ‘ i can save you, ’ he had thought, ‘ foresight has shown me the future. we simply have to avoid it. ’ but it’s never that simple ; and he’d crushed those remnants of daichiro murakami in order to build-up sir nighteye. the one good thing about all of this it that someone shall always know sir nighteye’s perspective ; there’s absolutely zero filter with him, and perhaps that is what is best when dealing with all these ‘ smoke and mirror tactics ’ in their profession. after all, he wouldn’t stand idle for the symbol’s bullshit, either---- even though he had believed in peace and stability for the public. he couldn’t stomach the grotesque insistence to play a fabricated role, to sacrifice the humanity within himself ( both beautiful and flawed ) for the sake of those that ripped asunder his flesh until only a skeleton remained. it is a human’s nature to devour ; to consume, and with their heroes, it is no different. people profit, and slowly everything starts to spiral out of control. a scoff comes from the prior administrator of all might industries as he shifts his hand. ❝ i’ll have a scotch on the rocks, then—- hurry up. ❞ but they’ve made one nuance quite clear. they don’t trust hawks, or---- maybe anyone for that matter. he’ll trust his team, on a professional level. because that’s all you truly can do ( unless you want to fail the mission before it even began ) but as companions----?
no, never again ; that crippling sense of vulnerability is not something they wish to relive. that wretched, frigid individual he’d fed to the media was good enough. but even his interns seem to comprehend that there’s more to him than what met the eye. mirio, specifically, has gotten a little too close for comfort---- yet, every time he tries to turn the boy aside or scold him ; there’s a similar, familiar smile that grows out of the mischievous child’s visage. there is only two people you’d die for: all might and---- anyone who had truly placed their trust in them. a sense of responsibility demanded it so. mirio ( and those who remained as allies of his office ) believed that foresight and sir nighteye could shelter them. for that reason, he has no choice but to deliver on that hefty promise. ❝ ----and hawks, ❞ he abruptly spoke. ❝ just so we’re crystalline. i don’t like you, nor do i trust you as far as i can throw you. in conclusion: you’re here to do your job, or you’ll get out of my way. understood----? ❞

❝ an errand boy, hm----? pardon my bluntness, but you don’t look the type—- ❞ but the oracle knows not to judge a book by its cover ; after all, he dealt in internal affairs all the time. information tends to flow rapidly whence you’re sifting through the right places. or the right people. either way, this infiltrator is wise to keep their distance. as for how long he’s known as to his apparent ‘ stalker ’ ---- well, one doesn’t survive in tactical espionage without holding a certain degree of refinement. foresight would’ve easily placed this individual’s mission and identity into question. with the details of limitation known only to his office ; he was a ‘ dangerous ’ quarry, indeed. either they’d chosen him of their own volition, or he had unfortunately drawn the shortest straw on their list of targets. ❝ very well, let’s hear what it is that you have to say—-? ❞ despite the suspicion ; it seemed he is willing to hear the other out before causing a scene. he’s not an aggressive type, in fact---- the seer seems quite nonchalant. even somewhat tranquil during having a casual conversation with an apparent threat----. ❝ come on, i don't have all day. ❞
