riverdale season 4 truly was a masterclass of television. they were like okay jughead is going to a boarding school called stonewall which he will refer to as the dead poets society. his roommate will be named bret weston wallis and the actor will later say he played bret as being in love with jughead. meanwhile betty is having her own homoerotic rivalry with jughead's other classmate, donna sweett. bret and donna and their friends joan and jonathan will later plan to kill jughead and make betty think that she murdered him. this only fails because jughead manages to survive but as a brief side point, archie and veronica were totally willing to help her cover it up. they enlist the help of betty and jughead's gay half brother charles (who is secretly dating their fake half brother, the imprisoned chic) to fake jughead's death in an elaborate plot to take down the stonewall preppies. betty also uses this as an opportunity to take jughead's spot at yale. hiram comes to jughead's funeral just to fire jughead's dad FP. meanwhile jughead is hiding out in the sex bunker that a classmate killed himself in a year earlier. charles (who works with the fbi) eventually imprisons bret but donna gets off scot free and jonathan either dies or has food poisoning, they never clarify which. unrelated things going on during this time include cheryl talking to her brother's mummified corpse, veronica setting a man on fire, gay kevin attempts to recover from his time in an organ harvesting cult, and archie becomes convinced his dead dad exploded an air fyer to save his life during a shooting. show of all time.
