I constantly forget that I drew this and then I unearth it again and absolutely lose my shit over it. I never bothered to save this one so it just jumpscares me in message histories sometimes.
Once saw a clown say clowns & furries speak the same "silent language" and that stuck with me for some reason
i bet this has to do with something called Mask Work in theater, which focuses on how masks can make a person automatically emote physically in a whole different way.
The one fact about Mask Work that will tell you everything you need to know about why i say this is: people, for whatever reason, tend to behave the same ways in the same kinds of masks.
So for example, people putting on variations on this classic
all have a tendency to push their heads forward, raising their shoulders and curving their back, and to move their heads with a bit of a twisty movement, constantly looking to one side or the other with twitchy head movements when not laser focused on something. This happens the first time a person spends open-minded time in the mask, usually in front of a mirror, and it happens whether or not the person has ever seen someone else wearing the mask.
Many mask designs produce an effect that people sometimes describe as being possessed by the mask, as if the mask has a character all of it’s own that shines through no matter who is wearing it. Some masks make people have a tendency to flounce, other masks will encourage slithery movements.
And people tend to agree that the masks do not talk (that is, people trying to embody the masks do not feel like they can say words and be in the character of the mask) but that they do vocalize - so one mask may seem to make people make a sort of grumbly gibberish, and another will tend to encourage people to make sort of nasally “fnee ... fnee” noises.
Anyway, the clowns and furries silent language thing has to do with this i think.
Of course the sentence also serves as a quiet knowing look about the way both groups get similarly unwarranted, visceral reactions from much of the public -- a nice play on words from the clown there, who, after all, is an entertainer.

Reblogging again because I just realized that if I had this advice in high school I would’ve never made a tumblr account.
Also works for most of those news sites like WSJ or NYT that only let you read a little bit, or block adblockers. Also some disable the scroll bar but if you go to the right side of the console after hitting F12 and look for the CSS element “overflow” and change it from “hidden” to “visible” then you can continue scrolling for free. Might have to click around on different parts of the page to find it, but it should work.

memes i miss: Pooh Baseball
Ok so a lot of people are confused over this, allow me to give some clarity.
There’s this little flash game online from way way back, Pooh Baseball.
It starts off innocently enough as a nice little baseball minigame, but soon spirals out of control. No, it’s not doing creepypasta shit, but it’s just the difficulty ramps up. IT RAMPS UP HARD. It starts off with just introducing curve balls and stuff like that, but then people start cheating. For instance, Tigger can do physics-obliterating zig-zag balls, and the owl’s ones would disappear in mid-air. It was severely difficult, and when 4chan’s /v/ got a hold of this, any incredulousness towards the game soon evaporated. I guarantee that any little kids back in the day probably gave up quickly, but the people from /v/, battlehardened from Dark Souls, Touhou, Wario Ware and all sorts of reflex-driven games, took it upon themselves to try and beat it.
But then people from /v/ perservered and managed to push on and finally take on the final pitcher - Christopher Robin.
And they discovered the true depths of hell.
See, Chris is a cheating motherfucker. There is no other way to describe him. He took notes from every other pitcher (Or devoured all their souls to gain their power, depending on how memey you want to go with this), and can use every one of the tricks that the other pitchers can.
AND HE CAN COMBINE THEM.
This resulted in stuff like dissappearing zigzag balls and speed-changing screwballs. It was borderline impossible to beat him.
I should stress: The people playing this were from /v/. There were men who could go toe-to-toe with Gwyn with no armour and come out on top. There were some who could take on Remillia Scarlet and escape without a hit. There were people who could get through Oblivion with never levelling up.
And they almost all fell against this child and his celestial pitching arm.
And the memes began to flow.
I’ve played it myself, and got up to 6.
I don’t think I have the words to express how much I want to kick a nocturnal bird up the arse.

Tell me about the olm?
olms are blind translucent salamanders that spend their entire lives in caves. they're about a foot long and can go literally years without twitching a single muscle. they only breed something like once a decade, and they can live for over 70 years.
aaaand they're also one of the biggest organisms to be totally cave-bound!
see, the thing about caves is that there's... not a whole lot going on. once you go pass through the Bat Zone and enter the parts of the cave where the only residents spend their entire lives there, you discover this:
yeah. these chambers have spent literally thousands of years away from the sun in unchanging darkness, so there's really not many nutrients passing through the food web here.
pretty much only the tiniest mere dribblings of nutrients are occasionally washed through underground rivers that pass through the cave, sustaining tiny cave fish and invertebrates. and also the olm, giant among its cave siblings.
so because there is so very little food and nutrimants around, olms have adapted to just. not use energy. at all.
they don't expend ANY energy at all unless it's to sip up a passing particle in the water. they are as still as statues otherwise, biding their time.
oh, I do NOT like looking at it head on.
and once they've built up enough reserves, they'll go find a similarly motivated partner to go create some little olms with! but then it's back to a decade of stillness in the dark for Olm.
it's okay, though. they've got time.
@evilwizard You know this guy?

The matamata turtle looks like your grandmother when you're telling her about something that she doesnt understand but she loves you and is being supportive.
the matamata turtle also has one of the coolest feeding mechanisms ever (video here) where it literally creates a vacuum so strong fish can’t escape and just swallows em whole. 10/10 animal
Just like my grandmother.
