so we can all mostly agree that Nightmare cares about his boys, at least to an extent, right?

do you think he has 'rankings' that he places on them??

like, Killer would be at the highest one, able to go on solo missions, spy missions, and other difficult missions that would usually require two or more people, but he's so good that Nightmares doesn't seem it necessary.

then Dust and Horror would probably be at the second highest, or the third highest. they would be cleared to go on regular raid missions and other such things, but always with a partner (usually each other, since they're at the same ranking) because Nightmare knows they're strong, but not strong enough to do it alone.

then Cross, being the newbie, would be at the lowest ranking, approved only for training and the occasional raid, but is completely banned from partaking in any actual battles until Nightmare knows he can handle it.

and the only way to climb up the rankings would be to keep training with each other until Nightmare deems them more than ready to move up.

but since the highest rank would be the hardest to get to, do you think they'd have to beat Nightmare in training? cause he's got 500 some years on them and the people they're fighting are about as strong as him, if not stronger, so he'd want his boys to be as prepared as possible in the case that they would have to fight to survive against basically a god completely alone.

how can nightmare be evil he's literally housing an unmedicated schizophrenic addict (dust), a paranoid schizophrenic (error), someone who basically lost their entire family (cross), not to mention he's giving an erratic psychopath (killer) a safe way to express their desire to hurt others and giving someone whose AU was abandoned by the star sanses (horror) free housing and food in exchange for the occasional manual labour job
