I don’t really know much about making convincing fakemon, but here’s my attempt at a budgie pokemon (been wanting a real budgie pokemon so bad lol). I’d like to think they’d be pure flying in both stages with gender differences based on real budgies. Also, their forehead feathers in the 2nd stage glow in the dark, similarly to how real budgies glow under blacklight.

hello! hope you're doing okay! i was wondering if it's okay to ask; what resources/youtube channels do you recommend to learn animation? your animations are always so fluid and clean!

I wish I could link some videos, but unlike illustration, I didn't really learn by watching tutorial/course vids. I learned by researching the 12 principals of animation (from the book by Richard Williams) and then a lot of trying new things and redoing it over and over until I got a result I liked lol.

HOWEVER, I did learn some by going through animation frame-by-frame and studying the movement/timing + watching slowed down vids of real animals/people. You can also film your own reference if you are able too. c:

Hello Nightrizer. Umm, hehe, it’s a real honor to make your acquaintance.😅 I’m really just a huge fan of yours. My name’s Saber. And, well, I’ve always wanted to reach out to you, but I didn’t know what to ask until now. Long story short, I’m finally working and studying to be a 2D animator just like you (You are, after all, one of my BIGGEST inspirations to become one 😊). So, I just finished my first headshot, 8-sec, lip-sync, flat color animation. And it took me 15 hours to complete. 🫠 But I’m getting off track. The question I wanted to ask you is how long does it take you to finish your animated icons and is there a software u know that could help me do it faster?

Hey there! For your questions:

Normally I take 6-8 hours to finish a 2-3 second animated icon, so I'd say completing 8 seconds of colored animation in just 15 hours is actually really speedy.

I use photoshop CC, but it's not the best for animation (coloring's a pain) so I wouldn't recommend it. You probably want an actual animation program that uses vectors like toom boom if you want to make things easier/quicker (it's pricy though 😔). There's also Open Toons- I haven't tried it in years, but there should be some tutorials on how to use it by now.

Other than that, keep practicing and you'll eventually be able to draw quicker!
