Also, some of you donât actually know what enemies to lovers is huh⊠Where is the clashing of principles? The righteous fury? The gut wrenching guilt of having unwanted affection for someone who is actively trying to destroy everything youâve worked your entire life to build? The overwhelming anger thrown at the object of your affection to mask your anger for yourself? The reluctant truce brought about by extenuating circumstances? The begruding birth of respect? The creeping realization that you are on the wrong side? The long agonizing journey to redemption? The slow quiet blossoming of a friendship? The underlying current of a desire that has always been there but you have never been in a position to act on before? The fear that your antagonistic history carries too much baggage? The resigned acceptance that a friendship is more than you are even worthy for? A heroic display that solidifies your position as one of the good guys? The epiphany of love and a hint that it might not be so unrequited? The inevitable conclusion??
Honestly, you guys see two people on opposite sides and just skip to the lovers partâŠ.
Itâs important that everyone understand that, when I say that I âlikeâ a villainous character, what I in fact mean is that I consider them to be both cool and morally praiseworthy, as well as correct in their aims and methods and worthy of emulation by people in the real world. Just in case there was any ambiguity on this point.
I further elaborate that I consider them to be An Excellent Role-Model for Impressionable Children.
I almost neglected to mention that they are a worthy sexual partner and that I am aroused by everything that they do.

my English prof teaching abt cover letters today and me trying not to bring up the luke skywalker cover letter post:
@serialrebloggerâ here you go:
So I just found out that there are more people making works on AO3 with a million tags on them in protest to AO3 not removing that one fic (you know the one). I would just like to state my own personal opinion about that right up front: if youâre trolling AO3, no matter your reason for doing so, youâre the asshole.
I know we all call it AO3, but the a stands for Archive. Itâs a site built on the premise that fanworks deserve to exist and shouldnât be taken down, unless the author is making that decision for themselves.Â
This means that there are lots of works on AO3 that I think suck. There are works that are poorly written or boring or morally reprehensible. And guess what? All of that is protected because itâs not about a single work, itâs about fanworks in general and all of us having a place we can rely on to have our backs.Â
The whole point of AO3 is not deleting works just because someone complains about them. The work needs to violate the Terms of Service and if it doesnât, then it shouldnât be removed. The rules that protect me protect those other works too.Â
The volunteers at AO3 take the siteâs goals and premise very seriously. They arenât going to make snap judgements about a work, not even a work with a million tags. They also arenât going to make snap judgements about implementing a limit on tags when there hasnât been one before.Â
They need to talk things out and discuss the short and long term ramifications. They need to talk about where to draw the line, and how can they explain why they decided to draw the line there? Will this decision affect works that already exist on the Archive? What do we do about them? Those authors posted before this new rule came into being, so you canât punish them for a rule that didnât exist at the time.Â
Creating more works with the same issue just means that volunteer tag wranglers have even more work to do. Mass reporting a work that has already been reported just means that Policy & Abuse volunteers have even more work to do. If you fill up their lives with nonsense tags or repeat reports, you know what they canât do? The thing that everyone (including them) wants them to be doing.Â
People who volunteer for AO3 also read on AO3. They are as annoyed about these works as you are. But making more work for them to do isnât the answer. Being patient is. Itâs going to take time for them to make decisions about things like tag limits. Itâs going to take time for them to code the limit into the site. Itâs going to take time for them to test the code and make sure it doesnât break anything. And in the meantime:
Filter out the author and bookmark your filter in your browser so you donât have to enter it every time.
Add the work-blocking code to your site skin so you never need to see that work again, as long as youâre logged in.
There are tools you can use to avoid the things you donât want to see. Creating a bigger problem isnât the solution. Itâs just a dick move.
superimposing the destiel ending onto straight characters is a very fun thing to do i do recommend it. doomsday but rose just doesnât really come up after that and the bbc aggressively insists the doctor was going to say âi wish you the best my very good pal.â han says âi love youâ to leia instead before he gets frozen in carbonite. she doesnât say anything back and they just donât bother to rescue him and heâs not really an important character after that. mulder confesses his love to scully, then gets immediately abducted by aliens, followed by two episodes where scully solves the plot problems, eats ice cream, and then dies for unrelated reasons. thatâs the ending.
id: tags that read #mr darcy says âyou have bewitched me body and soul and i love i love i love youâ and lizzie doesnât react #and an earthquake spontaneously occurs and swallows mr. darcy into the soil and #lizzie is just like âhuhâ and goes home #and three days later someone shoots her
Made a poncho and a pixie hat for this sage traveller.
we have this jamilton group chat where we talked about how great your writing is, especially your fic "Oh Snap", which every single jamilton fan apparently read :)
whaaat thatâs so flattering?!
the popularity of oh snap confounds me to this day, especially since itâs a fic that i straight up forget about all the time :âD not complaining though, iâm glad people enjoyed it
the fanfic writing moodboard:
(ive felt all of these on intense levels)
i think villains in general provide better, more epic romances because they're allowed to go to extremes. they're allowed to put their love over the greater good. they're allowed to be selfish. the best a hero can offer you is number two, because their duty comes first. villains, though. villains will burn down the world for a last kiss goodbye.
must a fictional relationship be âhealthyâ or âfunctionalâ? is it not enough to simply watch two made up people destroy each other, hand in unlovable hand???
hey what the fuck is wrong with you people
idk, what is wrong with me? iâm in a healthy and stable relationship with a great partner, iâve had lots of therapy that has helped me establish strong boundaries and recognize red flags, and i have an active social life and fulfilling career. could it be that i just⊠like to read books and watch movies and tv shows about dysfunctional people??? you tell me, tumblr user girlcreator!
Youâre a bourgeois degenerate who wants to see shitty despicable & violent relationships for your disgusting sense of entertainmentâ and you should feel fucking ashamed of yourself.
I agree with @girlcreator but I definitely know thereâs something wrong with you. People like you are a huge red flag to me. Bad vibes, for sure.
can you weirdos just smoke some fucking weed
shakespeare frantically rewriting macbethâs marriage to be healthy and adjusted becuase no one will ever want to watch the originalÂ

Worldbuilders naming towns: I named this town Elygweâmeth which means âWhere the Dearly Beloved King died next to his Loverâ in the language I invented and also a combination of the Old English word for diamonds and the Maori word for apples since thatâs their main exports
People in real life naming towns: I named this town Big Falls cause big fall there
me poring over a fantasy map: Shit I already used that name for a town, I canât use it again, thatâs such sloppy worldbuilding
real life maps: There are six rivers in Britain called the River Avon, which means River River, because when the Romans asked the Celts âwhat is that?â they replied âa river?â and the Romans nodded and jotted it down
iâma leave this here since some of yâallâs racism is jumping tf out on beyoncĂ©âs internet
So, 100% this is some racist shit. But I canât help but wonder if another part of it is that Twilight and Gossip Girl are âgirlyâ, and Star Wars is like a pillar of nerd culture and is suppose to be taken seriously.Â
So white men, making fun of white girls is like, a seminal part of culture. Comedians have made entire acts about it.Â
Men of color, making fun of things beloved by white men is one of the most subversive acts that can be committed.Â
It is intersectional. And also shitty as fuck.
This is a thing Iâve been trying to put into words for A Time
Especially if you remember that everyone fucking loves it when Harrison Ford hates on Star Wars. Should be the same for every actor who does.
hey remember what happened to megan fox when she wasnât consistently, comprehensively thrilled about transformers
Fandom is shifting
Some distinguished guests may remember when all characters were assumed heterosexual and straight unless theyâd had a specific and inarguable coming out subplot in their canon, or canon was otherwise absolutely and incontrovertibly clear about their sexualities.Â
And all the fic needed a âProve heâs capable of loving a man, any man, this manâ arc and also a âgay panicâ arc where the characters panicked about âno homo? yes ⊠homo? GAY COOTIES??????â for the ship to be considered âin characterâ
And then a lot of people were like, âThatâs shitty, letâs not do that.â Â
And then a lot of other people (but not as many as weâd feared) were like, âBlah blah conservative Christian rhetorical fallacies blah blah I donât approve of murder either but I still enjoy the mystery genre blah blah.âÂ
And some time passed, people stopped warning for m/m and f/f content (and started CREATING f/f content outside of Xena fandom, bless you Xena fandom)
And now itâs like we just assume everyone falls somewhere on the bi-pan-omni-multi spectrum unless they very specifically canonically have a Storyline About Being Exclusively Kinsey 6 Level Gay. (Or they very explicitly have a moment where theyâre like ânah man, I wish but Iâm straight. good luck though!â (the second moment is treated as âYeah but fuck canon thoâ and the first is treated as âand Nâeâer a gender unlike their own shall approach romanicâlyâÂ
ANYWAY.
What Iâm saying here is that Iâm seeing a similar thing happen with gender right now. Weâre coming out of a place where All Characters Are Considered Cis Unless Theyâre Explicitly Canonically Trans Or Are Played By A Trans Actor to a place ofÂ
We Donât Fucking Know Any Of These Charactersâ Genders Unless They Say Something About It In Canon And If They Say âCisâ Well Then Fuck Canon We Create What We Want.Â
Itâs a little disconcerting to be cis and fannish while this sea change is taking place (I was conservative, Christian, and closeted while the previous seismic shift happened and I mostly closed my eyes and went LA LA LA while it did) but Iâm glad the great genderquake of 20XX is going on.Â
And our trans+ comrades getting a fan space thatâs safer and more welcoming and more comfortable? Is WELL worth the lil disconcertion I (and other cis people I am looking at you too) have about it as cis people.Â
