Niigata Division’s Valor Guard is an all-male rap group consisting of Chief of Police and Division Leader Seiji Tsukimoto, along with fellow members Homicide Detective Lyall Shiba and Paramedic Ayumu Hayami.
The group’s color is dark green.
The group's symbol is a lion. Chosen as the group symbol for its meaning of courage, strength, and justice. Something that the members hope to embody.
The group has some form of a lion on them. Seiji wears it as cufflinks on his dress shirt, Lyall wears it as a clip on his tie, and Ayumu wears it as a pin on his shirt collar.
Their hand sign from Rhyme Anima is a V shape with their hands.
Though these men may have joined the D.R.B. for different reasons, they all share the goal of keeping the country safe from harm.
“Are you sure you don’t mind us leaving the girls here for the night?”
“Sayaka darling, Mother and Father don’t mind watching the girls. Frankly surprised they haven’t stolen them away more.”
Ayumu softly assured Sayaka as they stood in the foyer of the Hayami Manor, dropping their daughters off to go on a date. His parents, Teruhiko and Angela, stood in front of them, amused looks on both their faces, all the while Angela carried Sara and Yoshiko in her arms. Teruhiko made an attempt to reach over and carry one of them, but a warning look from his wife, as if daring him to take one of the girls from her, made him stop.
“He’s right, Sayaka.” Angela soothed, shifting the girls in her arms until she had one balancing on each hip. “Teruhiko and I don’t mind having the girls spend the night. God knows how quiet this large manor can be some days. It needs the sound of children running through it.”
“I’ve been telling you for a while now to downsize since you two are getting older,” Ayumu grumbled.
“Nonsense. We still feel young, and besides, the manor was made for the family, and while it may have taken a while, I’m proud to know it’ll be filled soon.” Teruhiko smiled, an undeniable hint of pride in his voice. “Now go on with your date while you can. In a few months, you’ll be too busy to take one.”
“He’s right, you know? So go on, get out two. The girls will be safe and spoiled while with us.” Angela shooed the couple, waiting for nothing more than to spend time with her granddaughters.
“That’s what I’m afraid of.” The paramedic groaned, turning his head to stare at Sayaka at the sound of her amused giggles. “Since they’re basically pushing us out the door, ready to head out?”
“Well, since your parents insist, I’m ready whenever you are, Ayumu,” Sayaka assured, linking her arm with his.
“Say bye-bye to Mama and Papa, you two.” The Hayami matriarch told the little girls in her arms, who turned to rapidly wave goodbye at their parents.
“Bye, Mama! Bye, Papa!”
“Bye, sweeties, we'll pick you up tomorrow morning.”
“So be good for Grandma and Grandpa.”
“So where are you exactly taking us? You’re the one who sprung the idea of us going on a date.” Sayaka questioned as they got settled into the car. “Not that I’m complaining; I love spending time with you.”
“You’ll see pretty soon.” Ayumu winked, turning on the car. “You’re going to love it. Promise.”
“I’m sure I will.”
— Later —
Dusk was now setting across the sky as Sayaka watched the sun fall lower and lower into the horizon, still unaware of where Ayumu was driving them. However, she just folded her hands gently across her large stomach, willing to let Ayumu surprise her with whatever he had planned. The man had yet to disappoint her, and she didn’t think he would ever do so with how he treated her. Something that still made her blush and swoon like she was once again a teen girl with a huge crush.
“I know that look on your face,” Ayumu spoke, interrupting Sayaka from her thoughts and bringing her back to reality.
“What look?” Sayaka smiled back.
“That you don’t know how to thank me for giving you so much.”
“…But you’ve-”
“But nothing, Sayaka.” Ayumu’s voice was firm even while staring directly at the road in front of him. “I give you what I give you because I love you. There’s nothing else to it. I don’t expect anything in return for it. Besides, you’ve given me something extremely precious to me already, and that is thanks enough for me.”
Ayumu took one of his hands off the steering wheel, placing it softly on Sayaka’s large pregnancy bump. To the paramedic, everything that had happened since Christmas had been a dream come true for him. From their weekend together, to Sayaka telling him about the triplets, and even all the support during the baby shower. Hell, even Seiji’s ribbing about knocking Sayaka up had been one of the better moments of his recent life.
“So don’t go believing you need to give me something else.” The blond man assured Sayaka, who sat silently as she stared at Ayumu with a loving, almost tearful gaze in her eyes.
Soon, a few moments later, the car rolled to a stop as Sayaka looked out her window and realized they were now in front of the Niigata Botanical Garden.
“The garden?” Sayaka questioned the confusion in her voice clearly. “Aren’t they usually closed by now?”
“Usually.” Ayumu nodded. “But I pulled a few strings so we could have the entire place to ourselves for the night. A private viewing of the flowers, so to speak.”
“Just the two of us?”
“Just the two of us,” Ayumu promised her as he exited the car, heading over to help Sayaka out of the car, giving her his hand to stabilize her as she took a step out. “Now tell me whenever you feel tired. You shouldn’t be standing for long once you get like that.”
“I’m sure I can handle a little walking around, Ayumu,” Sayaka assured him as she patted his arm.
“Doesn’t mean I can’t be a little concerned.” Ayumu gently responded as he led Sayaka to the entrance of the garden.
The loving couple soon found themselves in the garden, spending the while together, chatting and laughing as they admired all the flowers around them. Roses, sunflowers, carnations, daisies, and all other kinds of flora caught their eyes as they absorbed each other’s presence throughout the evening.
“They all look so pretty.” Sayaka admired taking in the sight of the hundreds of flowers in front of her.
“You’re still prettier than all the flowers combined here to me.” Ayumu complimented, not at all looking at the flowers around them, but looking at her with pure affection.
“Charmer.” The brunette giggled. “Not to mention you’re extremely biased.”
“Biased or not, you're still gorgeous to me, dear. Always will be.”
A loud grumbling broke the peaceful atmosphere, and Sayaka blushed as she realized it was her stomach letting her know she was far hungrier than she thought she was.
“Hungry?” Ayumu questioned despite already knowing the answer.
“Just a bit.” Sayaka chuckled.
“Come here.” The paramedic gently grabbed her arm, leading her down a specific path. “I knew you’d get hungry while we were here, so I made a plan for that as well.”
It was only a few moments before there, in front of Sayaka, was a little area filled with trees and dangling lights with a round table set for a meal with two chairs surrounding it. Flowers and candles adorned the table, adding to the romantic ambiance.
“It was supposed to be more of a picnic,” Ayumu confessed as he brought Sayaka to the table and pulled out her chair for her to sit. “But I didn’t think sitting on the ground would be easy for you, let alone getting up from it. So candlelit table-side dinner was my next bet.”
“Oh, Ayumu, I love it!” Sayaka swooned. “It’s perfect.”
“I had hoped you would.”
“And I do.”
“Good now, come on, I got some of your favorites for you to eat. You deserve a little spoiling for carrying triplets.”
And the next few hours were bliss as the loving couple spent the next quiet while enjoying their meal. Filling the peaceful garden with every little thing that crossed their minds, and if there had been anyone else in that garden, their cheerful peals of laughter would’ve been heard from all over, no matter where they were.
Ayumu wasn’t lying when he said that he had some of Sayaka’s favorite foods. All of which had left the pregnant woman drooling. The spaghetti that had been prepared was especially delicious. There had even been a few cupcakes decorated with butterflies for her as well. All of which she ate with gusto.
“This was really good, Ayumu,” Sayaka complimented, her face bright with thanks. “I know you worked hard on it.”
“Nothing too hard if it’s for you, Sayaka.” Ayumu smiled. “As long as it’s for you, I’ll do it over and over again. It makes all my work worth it to see you enjoy it.”
For the hundredth time that evening, Sayaka was once again a bright shade of red at how he was treating her, and her heart was nearly beating out of her chest at how romantic he was being. God, Sayaka wanted it to never stop. She never wants this man to stop loving her and treating her like she is the most beloved treasure he could ever possess.
“Now, would the lady be so willing to graciously accept my hand?” Ayumu stood from his seat and extended his hand for Sayaka to grab.
“She will.” Sayaka nodded as she grabbed his hand, letting him walk her a little way from the table, and to her surprise, the sound of classical music began to play around them.
“Waltz with me?” The blond asked, setting his right hand on her hip while his left hand gently laced fingers with her own.
“As if I would say no.” The amber-eyed woman laughed, almost left breathless at the romantic gesture.
“God, you’re beautiful,” Ayumu praised, staring down into Sayaka’s eyes, the moonlight making them look stunning. “What did I do to deserve someone like you in my life?
“I could ask the same thing,” Sayaka confessed. “The time we’ve spent together has been nothing but a dream come true to me.”
“That goes for both of us.” The paramedic placed a kiss on her forehead as he gently led Sayaka through the dance. “Just barely a year ago, we were just friendly to each other, and now here we are expecting triplets.”
“I know, right? I can barely believe it.” The brunette hummed, basking in the romantic warmth around them. “But I’m glad we took the leap on Christmas.”
“Quite the leap if you ask me,” Ayumu laughed before leaning his head down to Sayaka’s ear. “Some would even say a little filthy if they knew all that we did those four days.”
“Ayumu,” Sayaka blushed, the memories of that weekend rushing back. “That’s for them to wonder about and for only us to know.”
The violet-eyed male laughed at Sayaka’s cute expression as he twirled her around. “Hey, it brought us closer together; you can’t deny that.”
“A lot closer.” The pregnant woman giggled. “We’ve even moved in together. The girls were so excited when we told them.”
“Oh, they were so excited that they even decided to share a room together."
“I’m glad to see them getting along like sisters. I just know they’ll be good older sisters to the triplets.”
“I know they will be dear,” Ayumu assured as they swayed to the music. “I don’t think we need to worry about them. They’re good girls.”
“You’re right.” Sayaka relaxed, and whatever nerves that were in her body disappeared as the music began to slowly fade away, and with it the waltz as well. The couple came to a quiet finish of their dance. “Oh, the music is over.”
“That means it’s time for me to do this.”
“Huh?”
Ayumu chose not to respond and only just let go of Sayaka, with her breath knocked out of her chest, and the world around her came to a screeching halt as the paramedic got down on one knee and pulled out a small white box from out his pant’s pocket not an ounce of anxiety in his eyes as he stared at Sayaka in the eyes with nothing but pure love and affection. A gorgeous pink diamond ring was in the box as Ayumu proceeded to ask Sayaka the most important question of the night. One that completely blindsided her.
As Ayumu’s birthday baby shower comes to a close, I just want to say thank you so much to those who participated! As his creator, it makes me so happy to see people show their appreciation and support for him! Ayumu himself is very grateful for all the support he’s received today!
As I’m sure you all know, Ayumu’s and Sayaka’s children will continue to grow until her due date arrives, which is in September, so be on the lookout for a particular post!
Next birthday event is Rintaro’s in July so I hope you’re looking forward to it!
—
Ayumu sat on his bed the only light in the room in the room being the lamp beside him on his bedside drawer staring at the photo Sayaka had gifted with a smile on his face. Sayaka herself meanwhile was asleep beside him all of the excitement once again having caught up to her as she peacefully hugged her pregnancy pillow. A soft look he looked at Sayaka’s face before noticing the camera and placing his finger in front of his lips making sure the interruption stayed quiet. “Thanks for the gifts everyone.” He whispered. “Glad to see so many people send us something. Now it’s late and Sayaka is here exhausted and sleeping. Wouldn’t want to wake her would we? Again thanks for the gifts and good night.” Ayumu reached for the lamp beside him and turned it off leaving the room in complete darkess.
Nighttime had settled in, the party had ended hours ago, decorations were put up, the house was cleaned, and all the gifts were accounted for, for all intents and purposes, the day had been a huge success and Ayumu was content at how his 40th birthday had turned out.
Said man was now getting ready to join his lover in bed, having already brushed his teeth and changed into more comfortable clothing, he exited the bathroom to find Sayaka sitting up and rubbing her eyes, yawning.
“Ah, look who’s finally awake.” Ayumu smiled as he sat down on his side of the bed and brought the brunette into his arms, pressing a kiss on top of her head. “You’ve been out for hours, I told you that you needed rest my dear.”
Sayaka pursed her lips into a pout yet leaned her body against Ayumu’s more sturdy one, relishing the warmth he provided. “Oh hush, why’d you let me sleep through the whole thing? I wanted to celebrate with you.”
Ayumu chuckled as he ran his hands up and down Sayaka’s arms. “You really didn’t missed much, just more gifts and people congratulating us, really I was thinking about sneaking off and joining you for a nap.”
Sayaka fondly rolled her eyes, a smile tugging on her lips. “You’d never hear the end of it from your mother, she put in too much effort just to find you snoring away.”
“And yet you get to enjoy a good long nap while being waited hand and foot?” The blonde playfully raised an eyebrow.
“You may be the birthday boy but don’t forget that I’m the one that’s carrying not one, not two, but three of your children, mister.”
“And I will be forever grateful to you, my love, what you’re doing is nothing short of awe-inspiring.” Ayumu stared at the love of his life with nothing but love and adoration in his eyes, making Sayaka blush.
“Oh you…oh! That’s right, your gift! I haven’t given it to you!” Sayaka’s eyes widened as she deranged herself from Ayumu and got up from bed as fast she could, leaving the blonde man confused as he watched her quickly waddle out of the room.
While debating on whether or not to go after her, Sayaka came back as quickly as she left could holding a red envelope in her hands, smiling widely as she sat down next to Ayumu and handed it to him.
“Here! Here! Open it!” She giddily demanded, wiggling in place as he did what she ordered.
Opening the red envelope revealed…
…A family photo of Ayumu, Sayaka, Yoshiko, and Sara.
“I know it isn’t much compared to everything we’ve received today but I was looking through some photos and I stumbled across this gem! Do you remember when we visited the butterfly garden with the girls? When we first started dating? Sara and Yoshiko were so happy, they practically gone on their own little adventure while we sat next to the pond. Then the guide asked us if we wanted a picture and we agreed hence…this…I’ve taken a lot of photos, you’ve seen my scrapbook collection but this is my favorite photo ever taken…I know we aren’t married but looking at this here, it really feels like we’re a family…and I’d love for it to become real one day. Anyways, I wanted to give this to you so that whenever or wherever you are, you can look at this and know that you’ll always have a family that loves you and happily waits for you to come home everyday.”
Lovingly cupping his face in her hands, Sayaka stared into Ayumu’s eyes with her own filled with so much love before bringing him into a deep yet sweet kiss. “Happy Birthday Ayumu, I love you.”
Happy Birthday Ayumu! 💛
“What did I do to deserve to have someone like you?” Ayumu murmured as he looked Sayaka in her pretty amber eyes.
“More like what did I do to have a loving man like you look at little old me.” Sayaka responded back with her thumb running against Ayumu’s cheek.
“By being the kindest woman I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting.” Ayumu kissed his love’s forehead. “After what happened with Kasuga years ago I gave up on finding any sort of meaningful relationship with anyone. Yet you walked into my life and I was a goner the moment I looked into your eyes.”
”Ayumu….”
“Sayaka, you're the other half of my soul, completing it in a way I never thought was possible. I look at you and I can almost see the years we’re about to spend together loving each other and raising the kids. I can’t wait to share all that joy with you, my pretty butterfly.”
The brunette was almost in tears now as she quietly listened to Ayumu’s little speech. The words filling her heart with so much love.
“So thank you Sayaka for everything you’ve given me now and for everything you’ll give me in the future.” Ayumu pulled Sayaka into a deep kiss.
The sun had set, the party had concluded a little over an hour ago, now was the time for clean up and to move all the gifts Ayumu and Sayaka had received into the house, Sayaka was still napping but Ayumu had relocated her from the living room couch to his bedroom so that she could be more comfortable, pressing a kiss to her forehead, he quietly exited the room and closed the door, turning on his heel, he was surprised to find Yoshiko standing behind him in her pajamas, holding a gift bag in her small hands.
Ayumu blinked once, twice, the shock of being startled by a five year old girl leaving his body as he knelt down to her level. “Hey sweetie, it’s getting pretty late, I thought Grandma tucked you and Sara in.” He soon noticed the bag in her hands. “What’s that you got there, kiddo?”
Yoshiko nervously shifted on her feet, eyes darting everywhere except Ayumu’s face, the Paramedic said nothing, clearly noticing the young girl’s nervousness and giving her the space she needed to feel comfortable.
“I…I wanted to give you my gift, you and Mama were busy with the party so I waited…” She shyly mumbled before holding out the bag to him.
“Happy Birthday…”
Eyes softening, Ayumu could feel his heart melting in affection as he graciously took the bag from Yoshiko, now kneeling so that the both of them could get a good look together, Ayumu felt that the bag wasn’t heavy and upon pulling out the gifts, he could see why.
The first gift revealed to be…
…Three Disney themed swaddle blankets.
Yoshiko perked up. “Big sister and I got those for the babies so that way they’ll be happy and warm when they’ll get here!” She smiled brightly.
The second gift revealed to be…
…A crocheted envelope with a handwritten letter stitched onto it.
The cheerfulness from earlier was gone now, replaced by an air of nervousness and a deep longing, Yoshiko’s eyes turned glassy as she held back the big emotions that were fighting in her tiny body. “U-um…I made that for you…for Father’s Day…Mama helped with the knitting but I made the letter…I wanted to give it to you but…I was scared…Mr. Ayumu…you make my Mama really happy and you make me really happy too and…and I really want you to be my Papa and for Sara to be my sister and that can only happen if you marry my Mama so I would be really happy if you did and-“
It’s clear that Yoshiko was going to continue to ramble and panic if Ayumu didn’t do something quick.
“Hey now come here sweetheart.” Ayumu soothed Yoshiko as he lifted her up to carry in his arms. “There’s no need to cry. I’m honored you think of me like that.”
“Really?” Yoshiko sniffed looking up at Ayumu’s face. “You mean it?”
“I would never lie to you, Yoshiko, not about something like this. Meeting you was one of the best things that ever happened to me and you mean so much to me. So understand that I’m overjoyed at the fact you want me to be your father.” The blond assured the little girl as he wiped away a stray tear or two from her face. “And if you want to call me Papa I won’t mind not in a million years.”
”You mean it? I can call you Papa?” The little girl questioned her voice hopeful.
“Of course you can, Yoshiko but in return I get to call you my daughter,” Ayumu smiled. “How does that sound? A fair deal right?”
”Yeah!”
“Good now, can you keep a secret?”
“I can!” Yoshiko nodded her head rapidly.
“I’m going to propose to your Mama soon,” The paramedic lowered his voice with a smile on his face as he watched Yoshiko cover her mouth in excitement. “Then we’ll all be a family. You, me, Mama, Sara and the babies, how does that sound?”
“Like a dream come true.”
“It does, doesn’t it? Now come on, let's get you back to bed.”
The sun was setting and people were finally starting to leave in increasing numbers, the party was pretty much over at this point, the only people staying were Sayaka, Ayumu, the kids, and Ayumu’s family.
Poor Sayaka had completely passed out at some point, the exhaustion and general fatigue of being pregnant had finally caught up to her, now taking a nap on the couch, she was being dutifully watched over by Ayumu’s mother and sister while the birthday boy was thanking and saying farewell to the last of the guest.
Kanazawa Division’s Justice Shield were also in attendance, the three of them wanting to support and celebrate their friend growing another year older and expanding his family, they had a wonderful time, even Wataru, the man who never takes time off work, was seen relaxed and even smiling.
The trio approached Ayumu and gave them their best wishes.
“Hey man, great party and congratulations to you and Sayaka, the two of you are gonna be amazing parents.” Kyler gave a nod of respect to the older man.
“Indeed, the festivities were delightful and I appreciate the fact that you wanted this celebration to be more down to earth, it’s much enjoyable than most baby showers these days that want to be so grandiose.” Wataru sighed and shook his head but gave Ayumu an approving nod.
“Man, first Seiji, now you, are we in the middle of a baby boom? Not that that’s a bad thing, it’s just the timing of it all.” Joey laughed. “Anyways, we wanted to give you our gifts before we head out!”
“Yes, if you would just follow us, we’ll give you your presents and then be out of your hair.” Wataru explained as he and his team lead Ayumu over to yet even more gifts.
“Though if you need help moving them to your place, we’ll be more than willing to give you a hand, I’ve seen what some people here gave you guys and damn, they did not hold anything back, and here I thought Evelyn’s gifts were a lot during my wife’s own baby shower.” Kyler chuckled to himself.
In front of Ayumu were three gifts, one blue, one yellow, and one purple and the paramedic had a feeling he knew which gift were from which person.
“Go ahead and pick whichever one you want!” Joey grinned.
Taking that as his cue to start opening gifts, Ayumu picked the blue one to start off with and opened it to reveal…
…A months worth of diapers.
Wataru cleared his throat. “I’ll admit that I was…stumped on what to give you, truth be told, I haven’t had to buy baby supplies in over ten years, last time I did was when my sons were born but I figured if there was one thing you couldn’t have enough of, it was diapers and considering your significant other is carrying three passengers right now, these would come in handy.”
Choosing the yellow gift next, Ayumu opened it to reveal…
…A supply bag with an attached diaper changing section.
Kyler spoke up. “Guess Wataru and I had the same idea, sorta, my wife and I have this for our daughter whenever we go out and honestly? Best investment we ever made, you can carry your bottled and diapers and whenever there’s an emergency you can change your baby on the go, it’s even got a little curtain for privacy, I’d thought you would want something like that.”
Finally picking up the purple gift, Ayumu opened it to reveal…
…A collection of Eevee plushies from the hit franchise, Pokémon.
Joey cheered. “And that’s my gift! I was gonna give them starter Pokémon to see what kind of trainers they’ll become but Lyall talked me out of it so instead I got them Eevee plushies! Because c’mon, who doesn’t love Eevee? They’re adorable! Look Ayumu, no pressure but it’s best to get your kids started on anime as soon as possible, theres a whole world waiting for them! Now not to worry, I know a bunch of child friendly starter anime to ACK-“
The blonde was cut off my Wataru slapping him upside the head, an annoyed look on the older man’s face. “So sorry about him Ayumu, he just never seems to listen.”
Kyler sighed, “We told him to cut it with the anime shit today but…it’s Joey.”
“I can hear you two y’know!” Joey whined and rubbed the back of his head.
Ayumu bursted out laughing at the sight of Justice Shield antics almost reminiscent of his own teams.
“Thank you guys. I really appreciate it.”
The paramedic turned his head to stare at Joey, a mischievous idea hitting his head.
“You know Joey,” Ayumu slowly started off with a grin forming on his face. “Seiji already married Miho, and it’s no brainer that Sayaka and I will get married soon. So out of everyone in Valor Guard that just leaves Lyall. So…when will the two of you finally get married? You’ve been dating for a while now.”
The sound of Joey letting out a sound that sounded like a dying animal as he tried to explain that he and Lyall weren’t really for that era of their relationship yet nearly sent Ayumu into another laughing fit but he held it off putting on the best confused face as he could.
“Are you sure? I mean Lyall keeps looking at you like you hung the stars in the sky for him. Nevermind how he keeps dragging you to dark corners over in the police department-”
The loud mortified screech that came from the anime lover was the straw that broke the camel’s back as Ayumu began to laugh watching Joey turn bright red from his embarrassment with his head buried in his hands.
“Don’t worry Joey I think your time will be soon.”
The party had lulled into a comfortable atmosphere, the initial excitement and festivities were gone, now replaced with a cozy and quiet environment, the party was winding down, some people leaving early after giving their best wishes but there were still a few that wanted to give their gifts and well meaning wishes to the couple and parents to be, one of these people was Kureha Koizumi.
The bluenette had been part of the party planning for the baby shower half of the celebration as well as generally caring for her mother throughout this happy yet trying time in her life, getting to know the man her mom was smitten with and volunteering to babysit the girls to give the happy couple their privacy.
Now the time had come and everything had gone smoothly, unbeknownst to Sayaka and Ayumu, Kureha had been secretly planning her gifts behind their backs, taking on more shifts at her job among other things.
Approaching the loving couple, Kureha was immediately swept into a hug by her mother, briefly startling her before relaxing and hugging her back. “Hi Mom, congratulations.” Looking over to Ayumu, she nodded at him. “And happy birthday Ayumu.”
“Sweetheart, thank you so much for helping with the preparations! You didn’t have to especially after helping Lola with her wedding.” Sayaka beamed brightly at her daughter, squeezing her hands in gratitude.
“It’s no problem, Sayaka, really, this was a walk in the park compared to the wedding and you deserved to be celebrated, you’re carrying life inside you, that’s amazing.” Kureha smiled and squeezed back before letting go and leading the two over to the gift table where her gifts were neatly placed.
“Kureha, did you get us gifts? Oh dear, you shouldn’t have! You’ve already done so much! Was this why you were so busy recently?” Sayaka gasped and placed a hand on Ayumu’s arm to steady herself.
“Mom, I wanted to, really, it’s fine, this is money well spent to me and yes, I had taken extra shifts to get these…wait, what did you think I was doing-“
“Let’s open up these gifts, shall we?” Sayaka cheered and clapped her hands, cutting Kureha off before she could question her any further.
Walking up to the three large boxes wrapped in blue wrapping paper, she peeled it away and opened up the box revealing…
…Three separate baby swingers.
“They didn’t have anything for triplets unfortunately so I had to get three separate ones, I hope you like them, it really didn’t cost much at all…probably because the cashier thought I was getting them for myself which was mortifying to think about…uh, getting back on topic, I’m really happy for you and Ayumu, if you two ever need a babysitter for all of your kids, feel free to call me, I’ll never say no and the girls are already such angels, I’m sure your next kids will be just the same.”
“Oh Kureha!” Sayaka reached out to try and bring the goth into a tight hug as best she could with her large stomach.
“Mom please-” Kureha managed to get out before bringing face down into Sayaka's chest, almost suffocating with how tightly she was held.
“Oh what did I do to get a sweet girl like you as a daughter.” Sayaka cooed nearly in tears at Kureha’s gift.
“Sayaka dear.” Ayumu approached. “I think Kureha has had enough already.”
“She’s fine Ayumu. Aren’t you Kureha-” The brunette looked down at her adoptive daughter and let out a squeak at the sight of the goth looking almost blue in the face. “Oh I’m sorry dear! I was just so excited at the gift you got me.”
“Yeah I think you should let her go now love.” The paramedic gently grabbed Sayaka’s arms trying to get her to release Kureha from her grip.
“But she’s growing up on me.” Sayaka looked up at him teary eyed. “And it seems like I don’t see her as often as I used to especially with how she has a boyfriend now!”
Ayumu, weak for the love of his life and mother of his children, let go of Sayaka’s arms allowing her to bring Kureha into another tight squeeze. “Well a little longer wouldn’t hurt a bit.”
“Oh thank you Ayumu!” Sayaka beamed once again Kureha being hugged to oblivion by her.
Time has passed and most of the excitement has mostly died down, the guests were still mingling, sampling food, and still having a good time. The birthday boy and his lover were once again canoodling with each other, feeding each other bites of cake and entrees, completely in their own lovey dovey world much to the amusement and endearment and slight disgust to the guests in attendance.
A clear of the throat had brought them out of their Loveisck stupor, turning their heads to find a smirking Miho standing over them behind her stroller carrying her twins who were staring blankly at them, behind her was Seiji setting down an assortment of large boxes near the couple.
“I see you two are enjoying yourselves more than the festivities, not that I can blame you but you two are exactly subtle.” She laughed behind her hand as the two blushed and stammered to defend themselves.
“Miho please!” Sayaka laughed sheepishly before leaning down to coo at Makoto and Yasuro who responded with babbles and grabby hands towards the heavily pregnant woman.
“I’m not judging! God knows Seiji and I were the same the closer my due date got, it’s adorable, you two are adorable.” The ravenette smiled at them as the three turned towards the boxes, they were more of the larger gifts they’ve been receiving all day.
“Goodness, what exactly did you two get us? You do know that we have to take all of this home, right?” Sayaka laughed as she guided her hand over the wrapping paper.
“No worries, dear, this is your and Ayumu’s big day, you two deserve to be spoiled and I’m sure the men won’t mind carrying all this back to your home, it’s what they’re there for.” Miho waved off her concerns with a gentle pat on Sayaka’s back. “Now how about you open them, hm?”
Not being to be told twice, Sayaka immediately started peeling and tearing off the wrapping paper of gift #1, revealing to be…
…Three separate cribs with three separate onesies inside each one.
“You’d be surprised how hard it was getting baby supplies in bulk let alone in threes but we made do, if you need any help planning out your nursery feel free to call me, I absolutely adore interior design.”
Opening gift #2 revealed to be…
…Three shelves stocked full of baby supplies.
“I know, I know, the shelves would’ve been more than enough but trust me, if you have more than one baby, your supplies will dwindle faster than you can even blink,” Miho gave a pointed look at her sons, “and Sayaka dear, you’re having three of them, you’re gonna need all the supplies you can get.”
Opening gift #3 revealed to be…
…A baby stroller specially designed for triplets.
“I actually had to get this imported from overseas, unfortunately there aren’t many things for triplets in Japan, but I figured this would be better than having three separate strollers.”
As Sayaka was gushing and admiring her gifts, Miho turned to Ayumu and handed him a much smaller gift box. “And of course, I didn’t forget about you, Ayumu, I couldn’t not get my good friend and my husband’s childhood friend a present.”
After thanking Miho earnestly, Ayumu graciously opened his gift to reveal…
…A sketchbook set.
“Your sister told me how you used to draw and sketch back in the day, I’m not sure if you still do it now but it can’t hurt to start again, happy birthday, Ayumu and congratulations to you and Sayaka, I sincerely wish you two nothing but happiness and love, I also expect another important announcement in the future.” She smiled cheekily.
“So how are you feeling so far?” Seiji asked as he approached his longtime friend handing him a drink. “You’ve gotten a lot of things so far today.”
“Grateful that everyone seems to think so highly of me.” Ayumu answered honestly as he took a sip while both men stared at their other halves who were cooing over the grumpy twins that were Makoto and Yasuro. “And for having someone like Sayaka in my life let alone about to have the triplets.”
“You deserve it Ayumu and I mean it. You deserve the future you’re about to have no matter how much you still can’t believe it.”
Ayumu nodded his head because if there was anyone in this world who knew how he was feeling it was Seiji. “Some wise words from you, Seiji, funny coming from the man who used to knock heads off with his fists rather than use his words.”
“Will you ever let me live that down?” Seiji grumbled. “I haven’t done that in ages.”
“Never.” Ayumu smirked. “Younger you was a riot Seiji and if anyone knew about half of what you did back then.”
“I seem to recall a certain blond who went a few rounds in the ring and won too mind you.”
“Really? I wonder who that could be?”
“You bastard and people said you’re the nice one.”
The party was going swimmingly, between everybody mingling and participating in the baby theme games, it was shaping to be a wonderful time for both the birthday boy and the parents to be.
Sayaka was as content as she could be pressed against Ayumu’s side as they sat and greeted guests, opened presents, and ate delicious food prepared by the staff. As much as she would’ve liked to be up and about, Ayumu, his family, and basically everyone in attendance pretty much forced her to rest and for good reason too, that being the massively round protruding stomach she has.
Rubbing said stomach and smiling when she got a few kicks in return, Sayaka was about to ask Ayumu if they could take a small walk around the backyard when an unfamiliar voice called out.
“Um, excuse me? I got a delivery for a Sayaka Miyuki?”
Blinking in confusion, Sayaka and Ayumu shared a questioning look before the latter helped the former up from her spot and together they walked over to a unfamiliar person wearing a uniform, upon closer inspection, the brunette’s eyes lit up at the familiar insignia of her best friend’s shop as well as the sponsor of her baby shower, Angel Valley.
“Oh! That’s me!” Sayaka chirped as she waddled over to the delivery person who gave a polite smile in response.
“Hello ma’am, I’m here on the behalf of Miss Lola Takahashi, I’m sure you know that she’s currently on her honeymoon and can’t be present right now but she made sure to send you gifts she picked herself, just need you to sign here and I’ll be well on my way, congratulations!”
After signing and bidding the worker farewell with a cupcake, Ayumu carried the box back over to the gift table and it was then that Sayaka’s phone began to ring.
Lo and behold, it was Lola herself with a FaceTime call and upon answering it, the blonde revealed herself wearing a pink bikini and sunglasses perched perfectly on her head.
“Awww Sweetums! I’m so glad I caught you! Congratulations on the pregnancy and happy baby shower! Is that Ayumu behind ya? Hey, happy birthday, man!” She cheered and brought a glass of a fruity alcoholic beverage in frame as to say ‘cheers’ before setting it down off camera.
“Babes, I’m so sorry for not being there in person but just know that Reika and I are giving you all the best wishes and good vibes for the rest of your pregnancy, did you get my and Reika’s gift? It said that it should’ve arrived by now but you know how international shipping can be.”
“We got it, Lola, in fact we’re about to open it right now.” Sayaka laughed and beamed brightly, setting her phone up so that the blonde could get a good view of her opening her gifts.
“Oh thank fuck, alright Sunshine, let ‘er rip!”
At her cue, Ayumu opened the box with a box cutter before giving it to Sayaka to pull out the gifts, smiling at her lover in gratitude, the amber eyed woman reached in and pulled out…
…An assortment of expensive and stylish baby clothes.
“No nieces and nephews of mine is gonna come into this world without good fashion sense, Reika and I got these at a high end maternity store, I would make them myself but I refuse to work on my honeymoon…and I need to study more on how infants clothing is made, turns out, it’s a hell of a lot more different than adult clothing, there’s still more in the box, take ‘em out!”
Reaching in once more, Sayaka pulled out…
…Three sets of bedazzled shoes, baby bottles, pacifiers, and brushes.
“Oh. My. God. Sayaka, can you believe how cute those were?! I knew I immediately had to buy them as soon as I saw them, look at the wittle shoes! And they sparkle!! Hope you love them sweetheart and don’t even worry about the price, you and your babies deserve everything!”
Lola looked behind her and nodded before turning back to the couple, “Hey sweetie, sorry for leaving soon but Reika and I got dinner plans coming up soon and we need to get ready, again, congratulations and I’m so so happy for you and Ayumu, and don’t think I forgot about you, Mr. Paramedic, I’m sure you got the little business card I sent you beforehand, consider that your birthday gift from me.” She winked. “Okay bye you two! Have fun and eat some cake for me! Mwah! Mwah!”
And with that the call ended.
“Sure is energetic isn’t she?” Ayumu asked as he stared at the bejeweled gift sets.
“Lola has always been full of energy.” Sayaka cooed admiring some of the baby outfits her teammate had sent her. “But look at how cute the outfits she sent the babies.”
“The triplets are about to have a walk-in closet’s worth of clothing and all before they’re born too.” The paramedic teased back.
“And I’m going to take so many pictures of them in all those outfits.” The mother to be promised. “Good thing Seiji gifted you that camera.”
“A camera you’ve already taken out for a spin dear. I think you may have used up all the memory and it’s only been one day.”
“As it should be.” Sayaka brightly smiled. “I wanted to record every moment of this special day.”
“Of course love.” Ayumu placed a kiss on the top of her head. “But we’ve only gone through half the party, there’s still more to come. You should probably let the camera rest a bit before going at it again.”
“Oh alright.” Sayaka relented, pouting.
“There there Pretty Butterfly.” Ayumu laughed. “We’ll get you some cake in the meantime.”
“The most crucial thing for us is to conserve lives.”
Login Lines:
“Hm? Oh hey! Sorry if I’ve been busier than usual lately, but I’ve been a little busy with everything that’s been going around recently.”
“Huh? For me? Thank you so much, but believe me, I’m not the one you should be giving gifts to. Ah, well, no matter, I’m still thankful.”
Voice Lines:
“I know it’s supposed to be my day today, but really it’s more Sayaka’s day than my own. No matter how I try to get her to rest, she keeps fluttering around in excitement. It’s endearing, as it is a little nerve-racking watching her waddle around with her heavily pregnant belly.”
“A little less than three months until the triplets are born, and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t excited. I had completely given up on the idea of more kids ages ago, but seeing Sayaka like this has made me feel happier than I have been in years. Again, I don’t know how to thank her for all this.”
“Sayaka isn’t the only one excited, Mother was over the moon when I told her the news. She finally has more grandchildren to spoil, and she’s been directing all her energy into making sure Sayaka can have everything she could ever want. If she’s like this right now, I can’t imagine when they’re actually born.
“Glad I’m not the heir anymore. I was in no mood to throw a giant gala celebrating the pregnancy out of decorum like last time. No, I can have the small baby shower this time around without any of high society’s vultures hounding me over things I don’t care for. Makes everything feel much more peaceful.”
“Oh no, I know that smug look on your face, Seiji. *sighs* I’m starting to regret all the teasing I gave you last year if this is what I get in return. You’re a real piece of work some days, Seiji you know that, right? God, how did you manage to get Miho? Sure you did, buddy, but moving on, I see you have a gift for me.”
“Hey, what can I say? I want to record every moment. Still, this is nice, pretty sure Sayaka is gonna nab it for herself when she sees it. I've been telling her to slow down, but she just keeps moving. You're incredulous, Seiji, but that's always been our friendship, and I wouldn’t change it for anything.”
“Yes, hello, Lyall. Well, now you may have jinxed yourself into being next in line to have a kid. I…what? A jar? I’m not even sure I want to know what’s going on in your relationship, Lyall, because from that bit alone it sounds outrageous. More than you know, Lyall, but what did you get me? Hopefully nothing that's going to give me a heart attack.”
“Huh, that’s actually kinda sweet of you, Lyall. I just assumed you would just buy something like a gift card. Well, I’m glad to hear that I mean a lot to you, Lyall, and I'm sure the kids are gonna enjoy the gift. *laughs* Don't worry, there is a line of people before we even think about calling you to babysit. So you’ll be safe.”
Seiji Lines:
“Happy Birthday, old friend, and congrats on the new bundles of joy. Can you blame me? The amount of ribbing you gave me for getting Miho pregnant with twins on Valentine’s Day, and now here you are having triplets with Sayaka that you conceived on Christmas. I am using this against you for the next long while, ya blonde bastard. With my sparkling personality, but still, I’m happy for you, Ayumu, and so here. A little something from me.”
“Considering how you were with Sara, I figured you’d like a new camera to record all the triplets’ moments for the baby book. I don’t doubt it, considering how she’s moving around right now. *pats back* Good luck, old friend of mine, she's stubborn, and you’re going to need it.”
Lyall Lines:
“Is there something in the water? Everyone is having so many kids these days. First, the Chief with his twins, and now you with triplets, Ayumu. Not likely since Joey is a male and Kaoru apparently has her womb preserved in a jar. Yeah, don’t question it, Ayumu, she’s a little insane. Fair, but anyway, you seem ecstatic about being a dad again, so I got a little something for your future bundles of joy.”
“Kids like plushies, right? So I figured they'd enjoy having some teddy bears to keep them company at night. If it were anybody else? I would've, but I hold more respect for you, Ayumu, than most other people in my life, and I wanted to get something meaningful for your kids. No problem, just don’t ask me to babysit the kids. I draw a line at that.”
