Even Pop Music Is Better Than This || Nikolai & Sebastian
[That couch looked really comfy. And Sebastian never really paused to consider things like some people having really huge personal space bubbles, so he just flopped down next to Sebastian, shifting around to get a cushion at his back, and sighing happily.
It was a little sad to hear about the potential lack of music, though.]
Yeah? I guess you’re right. But it’s weird as hell going from constantly listening to the radio—or kids—to … well, barely anything. Everybody here keeps really quiet.
[He guesses there’s a sense in that. Didn’t want to attract attention, after all.
He’s about to chatter happily some more about music, but Nikolai’s question had his smile freezing. It didn’t fall away entirely, but it does fade into something a little more strained.]
Uh, well, about two weeks? I think? I could be off by a few days, I’ve never been good at keeping track of time. [Sebastian suddenly found the cushion behind his back super fascinating, so much so that he dragged it around to his lap so that he could pick at a loose thread coming off it.] It’s good you found us, though. Honestly, I don’t think we would have lasted much longer.
[He shifted awkwardly, watching with a raised eyebrow as Sebastian started to make himself at home on the couch beside him. This man was a hell of a lot different than Finn, who was too scared to even look him in the eye. Nikolai figured that since Sebastian was making himself so comfortable already, he had nothing to hide.]
I understand, but you have yet to see the chatterbox side of the rest of the colony, Sebastian, was it? They're quiet because you're foreign to them. Once you get to know them, you'll hardly be able to shut them up.
Let's just say that some of the people here aren't the most pleasant.
[That facial expression was something that Nikolai noted. The mention of the classroom had an impact on his happiness. Sebastian seemed frozen for a moment, but then started to pick mindlessly at the cushion that was behind him. Something had happened in that classroom. There was emotions that were attached.
He tilted his head to the side and pulled his knee towards his chest as he examined his newest conversation companion. As much as he hated to admit it, Nikolai was a little bit intrigued.]
Two weeks, I'm surprised you lasted that long, to be honest. Finn doesn't seem like he would contribute too much to survival rates. Were you at the school at the first sign of a virus, or did you find refuge there?
