Sergey and Oleg spoke to each other for a moment, low background murmurs matching Katya’s whispers to fill the house with comfortable quiet. They finished putting groceries away, and when Katya looked to them they were leaned against the counter, Oleg scrolling on his tablet with an arm around Sergey, who was cuddled up to him, pressing as much of his body close as he could as if trying to fuse and looking at the tablet as well, occasionally pointing to things as they murmured to each other.

The moment Katya spoke, they both looked up at her and then disentangled, though they held hands. Sergey spoke as Oleg set down the tablet, “You’ll be in the guest room, next to ours. Here, this way. And you can relax, there’s nothing wrong.” Not to mention the tension made Margot nervous. She insistently bumped her head into Katya’s hand trying to get her to calm down.

Katya crooked a brow at both Sergey and Oleg. In fact, her whole face scrunched up, as if asking, “Really?” She knew they were in love, but she didn’t know they were that in love. It’s like they were straight out of a cheesy romance movie. It was a miracle they were even able to de-tangle from each other.

She would’ve made more of a horrified face, next, if not for Margot’s insistent bumping. Katya didn’t like the idea of sleeping so nearby.

A hard line formed across her face, as Katya stayed rooted in her spot—focusing on Margot. She smoothed out the bird’s feathers, again, as she bit out, “I don’t wanna sleep where you guys can check-in on me so easily.”

Sergey and Oleg looked at each other before Sergey shrugged.

“There’s another one down here, but it’s dusty. I just thought you’d like the better view up there. Oleg…?”

“I’ll take care of it.” He sighed. Dust everything, change the sheets for good measure… Should be fine. He’d just have to move his old stuff out. It had been his room for a long time, but since Sergey had recovered and didn’t want to come downstairs, Oleg had moved up to join him.

“No, silly, we’ll do it together. What does it need?” Sergey smiled, squeezed Oleg’s hand. Oleg blinked, realizing he had accidentally slipped into his old servantile habits, and gave the short list of tasks.

“I’ll take care of the sheets and your things, if you take care of the dusting?” Sergey offered, and Oleg nodded.

wow okay i'm sorry that you find me so unsettling and hard to be around because i look almost exactly the same as i did before i died but something just isn't quite right and my personality isn't the same as i was in your (honestly pretty unfaithful and self centered!) memories of me and you're kind of starting to regret raising me from the dead. as if it's my fault 🙄

But uh, will you explain what exactly happened?” It was somewhat concerning, though she fully expected it to be the result of some kind of silly antics. Fit in with what little she knew of the man, and of the other dragonriders she’d met. They were a surprisingly silly lot in her experience.

Ah, that. He made a face and got a mental huff from Teynolth. The rider sighed.

“I might’ve… chased a wherry into a sticklebush on accident. Some had gotten loose and we were trying to collect them up again.”

Not exactly what someone might expect a dragonrider to spend his time doing, but walking off to let someone else handle it would’ve been irresponsible. V’ras might’ve been a goofball from time to time (more than that, if you asked his dragon), but he did try to take his work seriously.

She snorted, and then started to laugh properly but was quick to try and stifle it.

"Pfff- how uh, how responsible of you!" She couldn't blame him, she'd gotten more hurt for far stupider reasons, but it was funny. "Did you at least get the wherry?" Ah, dragon riders. Never a dull moment around them- and Menolly practically lived for excitement.
