They didn't even bother to look at the stranger, though they were ready and waiting for the telltale sound of a weapon being drawn or a spell prepared. "Definitely not why I'm sitting in the dark picking a lock, nope."

"I'd offer to take up the task myself, but at the moment he makes a decent chunk of my income just from pissing people off enough to hire me. Maybe if I was offered a good enough price, but for now I'll just leech off his mistakes." They grinned, entering the study and giving a low whistle. "Sounds like someone was well prepared. Planning to steal something too, hm? We should pair up more often."

"Oh, of course. The duke is the sort of bastard, isn't he." Mari rolled their eyes, sighing. "This is far from the first time I've been hired to make him regret his nonsense. Honestly, you'd think he'd learn the lesson." They consider how polite they feel at the moment, then bow, smiling. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Monroe. Sir Mari, at your service. And I would appreciate the company."

Alphonse stared at the would be thief. Strictly speaking he wasn't supposed to be in this part of the manor either. The Duke was an asshole and definitely deserved to be robbed. However this thief would have a hard time finding anything of worth behind that door. "Are you looking for other tools? I don't believe there is anything of worth in that broom closet. However down the hall on the left you may find the Duke's Study." He replied.

They look down the hall, then at the door. ".... Well, goddamn. Thanks. These halls all look the same to me...." They remove their lockpick and get up off the ground with a little grunt. "Pleasure to meet you, sir. I don't have long to stay here, but if I ever spot you again, you might find some coin in your pocket. ... Then again, what are you doing here? You look a little too fancy to be another thief." Just like them, to say they don't have much time and immediately get distracted by something anyway.

Me, gleefully pushing Mari to their limits without eating and then having them sit down to rest and heal slowly: Heehee… Poor Mari…  Injured, alone in this abandoned town overrun by strange creatures, in need of help or at least some company… Someone to bandage their wounds…

I just played Death to the Dorgeshuun the other day and I haven't recovered on an emotional level. MY GIRL DIED. MY GIRL-

Mari also has not recovered emotionally. They had Zanik for one day and when she died they were ready to kill everyone in H.A.M. and then themself. They got their girl back but oh god
