The Mortal Guard - Update 44: The Black Prism

King is the leader of the Cult of King and an ex member of the Mortal Guard on his own terms. The cunning fox was a member of the Mortal Guard who escaped and took everything he had learned with him. Made from the parts of a Prism Pistol, the Black Prism is used to drain the time out of someone and them put it into someone else and vice versa. This prism is used on the Cult of King’s members but also anyone that gets in their way. If any of his cult members die during a fight, then King can take time from his own life and add it to the corpses and reanimate them for however long he desires. Since King has stolen so much time, giving it away is almost nothing to him.

The Mortal Guard - Update 43: The Seven Contrary Virtues

In order to defeat Absalom, a group of people that are the incarnation of the Seven Contrary Virtues are required and the entire time they have known about it, the Mortal Guard has been searching for these animals. The Seven Contrary Virtues are:

- Chastity against Lust

- Liberality against Greed

- Abstinence against Gluttony

- Humility against Pride

- Kindness against Envy

- Diligence against Sloth

- Patience against Wrath

These virtues are found amongst everyone, but only the animals who are the embodiment of the virtues can defeat Absalom, or try to. Being one of the Virtues gives you access to certain abilities that come with that virtue, but you can still die all the same. If an animal that is one of the Virtues dies, then a new, random animal becomes the new Virtue. This occurrence would make them act completely differently toward the people around them. The Mortal Guard treats those they find are the Virtues more special than those who aren’t and the way this hope of defeating Absalom was discovered was through a huge mission where a bunch of timeline travelers traveled to alternate timelines to gather info. Animals are not born as the embodiment of the Virtues, it has to be passed to them.

Nicholas Flynn is the embodiment of the virtue of Patience.

The Mortal Guard - Update 41: Food

As you may know, the only animals that are anthromorphic in this world are mammals. But what do they eat? Well, unlike most other media in the anthropomorphic genre, in this world, feral animals still exist. There are no pets. So, the anthro carnivores still get to eat meat. Unrelated to this, feral animals can also be Chronobeasts.

The Mortal Guard - Update 40: Reanimation

As stated before, there are no resurrections in this world. That being said, bodies can still be reanimated and used under the control of their Puppeteer. It is similar to the same Time magic that The Cult of King uses to extend their leaders life. In order to reanimate a body, the spell subtracts the amount of time you want the desired bodies to be animated from your own lifespan. Plus 10 minutes to a body, minus 10 minutes from your life. Plus 1 year, minus 1 year. So on and so forth.

The Mortal Guard - Update 39: The Liar

“It comes from...somewhere. It looks like...something. It feels...horrible. It comes at night, around 11 o’clock, into the homes of Mortal Guard members. How does it get in? We still don’t know. Don’t look at it. Wear a blindfold and listen closely. It disappears with the morning light. Survive that long and you’ll be fine. This is the only creature that exists in the Mortal Guard dimension.”

The liar is a strange creature that appears at night in Mortal Guard member’s homes, which is why most of them go to sleep wearing a blindfold. Its origins are unknown and what it looks like is a mystery, only that anyone who looks at it, dies. The main cause of death by this creature is throat slitting. The most alarming thing about the creature is that it somehow can slip past the magical barriers that the Mortal Guard has in place. Even research into the Liar and trying to catch it fails. Extra training goes into preparing to deal with this creature, on top of the blindfold training already done. It is unknown why it is called The Liar as well. One of the biggest mysteries in the entire organization.

The Mortal Guard - Update 38: The Wave of Self-Immolation

Due to a large and tragic event many creature hunters were put through, or maybe something deeper, a impossible amount of Mortal Guard members ended their life in a very short amount of time and the impact was felt over the entire organization. This began the push to add the Trauma Sect and not only this, but safety precautions were incredibly heightened. As an example, an apartment in the Residential District. If you were to open the window and try to jump out, you would hit a magical barrier. In the doorway, a different invisible magic barrier makes your Mortal Guard equipment disappear, such as Prism pistols when you get inside. They will always reappear in the exact spot they disappeared, so it is necessary to leave the way you entered unless you want your supplies to fall on the floor. There are no knives in any apartments, instead a magical laser machine is used to cut food and cannot cut anything living. These are just a few examples.

The Mortal Guard - Update 37: Halloween

The most intense night of the year for the entire Mortal Guard, this night is also known as Hell Night. For a reason not yet known, the Other Side is extremely powerful this night and it’s all hands on deck. There is much preparation in advance for this night and even more training. This the night that the Mortal Guard loses the most of its members.
