I like to think of it like this: there are a ton of philosophies based on the idea that the universe is mostly uncaring, but the difference is how you finish the sentence. The universe is uncaring so nothing matters is nihilism, so we have to make our own meaning is existentialism, and so we ought to just make life strange and good for us and those around us while we're here is absurdism.
