Not afraid (love and strength for Paris)
The events of last night shook the world. Multiple Terrorist attacks ripped through Paris yesterday. The victims were hundreds of peaceful, innocent people. Before I begin, I must first and foremost send all my love and strength to everyone all over Paris. My heart breaks for all of you. This tragedy hits very close to home for me, and has affected me deeply.
One of the many attacks that plagued Paris last night, was a rock n roll club “Le Bataclan”, a place we just headlined only a few months ago. It’s an amazing club we’ve frequented over the years. The whole street is awesome actually! Right next to the club is this cool little cafe where we’d always eat dinner, and hang with fans over a beer or two. It’s very near and dear to our hearts as a band.
Last night Le Bataclan was packed for Eagles Of Death Metal with fans young and old, bands, photographers, crew members,promoters, journalists, bartenders… This is our music family, our road family! All these people wanted was to lose themselves on a Friday night in the sanctuary of the Rock Show.
As a musician and I’m sure my brothers and sisters of rock will agree…This is personal!This is war on MY world. You have stepped on My turf! This is my life, this is my fucking church.
I step out on a stage every night, and innocent people travel far and wide so that we can all share this amazing positive energy. And for just a few hours,we rid this earth of some of the badness in it. Last night, Terrorist ass holes walked into that sanctuary, a Rock club, and gunned down 118 people, wounding even more. And that’s just one of the attacks…Every time I check in, the number gets higher. All for what? For some imaginary god? Illogical beliefs? Even if your god did exist, he is not one I’d want to know or worship. It is pure evil what you did! So how do we fight back? Here’s how: By not being afraid, by having more Rock Shows, by going to more sports games, by not letting them take our light from us! If we cower and hide, they win. Also, we must fight back by Evolving as humans! We can’t let ourselves be divided by our fear, or our petty differences anymore. None of that matters. No more hate over beliefs, skin color, sexual orientation or preference etc… ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! We have this one life, and we are all in this together. We are NOT like these evil animals who senselessly gunned down our innocents. We are Humans. Let’s start acting like it. I’ll be sending all my energy from stage tonight to Everyone in Paris and Everyone affected around the world. I love you all.
