Tell me about your mtg characters!

Let’s reverse the usual, either reblog this post with basic information about your own Magic: the Gathering characters, or send me an ask with it. One at a time, and give me that information even if I already know them, others might not. I’ll ask around questions about them that pop into my head.

I’ve got a lot, so I’ll focus on the ones with the most influence on other planeswalkers. Let’s start with Enolya. Enolya Coriac is a black-aligned female human bard from my fan-plane of Firdos. Born into a Bant-aligned dystopia with a strict caste system and laws forbidding individuality, she always sought to rise above her station, and her spark ignited after she led a failed attempt to revolt. Her main ambition is to have others look up to her, and she prizes her reputation above all else. She specialises in magical music to empower her allies while draining her enemies’ strength and willpower. She’s the leader of Enolya’s Entourage, an interplanar adventuring party consisting of herself, Bethna (W female fan-plane dwarf cleric), Cydris (U female fan-plane windkin wizard), Jinx (R female fan-plane catfolk rogue), and Medosra (G female fan-plane centaur warrior).

Enolya! The line about her wanting people to look up to her made me think, who amongst her entourage does? Oh, and how is she with children, does she usually impress those and value their opinions of her?

Among her team, Cydris and Jinx are her biggest supporters, though all of them have a begrudging respect for her leadership abilities. She’s reasonably good with children, and does her best to respect them - getting on their good side can help soften adults’ hearts toward her as well.

I’m actually writing a story with a protagonist like that.

If your walkers had to team up, which two would be the strongest pair?

Hmm... Tricky question, but I think Epnu with Sosiro would work best in terms of combat power. Epnu’s a good enough fighter to keep Sosiro protected while they summon, and their beasts are really good targets for her buff spells.

What caused Muntaha al-Kelabi to betray their fellow knights and brake their oath?

Mostly her fanaticism and “smite first, ask questions later” approach. While her duty was to punish the guilty and protect the innocent, she took it too far and killed several people she didn’t need to kill. Her order kicked her out over this, but she refused to stop and turned to brutal acts of vigilantism. Then when knights from her order were sent to stop her, she resisted and ended up killing them as well. This was when her curse struck and she realized she’d gone too far.

What planes have Ganara visited? Which has been one of her favorites and which one has she like the least?

I don’t keep precise lists of visited planes (mostly so I can keep my options open in the future), but I know she’s been to her home plane, Ixalan, Ravnica and Zendikar. Ixalan is her favourite so far. She doesn’t much like Ravnica since she finds cities overwhelming.

What is one of Denakax favorite creations?

I’ve mentioned the Draco-Mech already, so here’s another of her favourites: Her electrified gauntlet. It’s easily portable and has a number of uses, including personal defence, lighting fires, magnetizing to pick up metal objects, and powering other devices.

What does Muntana do to get ready for bed?

Remove and clean her armour, groom herself, meditate briefly on her deeds that day, then go to sleep.

What would be Epnu's theme song?

Probably Monty Python’s “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life”. She’s a bit silly, tries to be cheery despite the many ways life has screwed her over, and has a positive attitude about death, so it seems appropriate.

Which of your 5 enemy color pairs took the longest to finalize?

Probably Muntaha since I waffled so much on her species. I knew she was going to be non-human, and I considered going with both ainok and leonin, but I didn’t want too many canid characters and I wanted to focus on races that haven’t had ‘walkers yet. Finally, I decided on aven and my problems were solved.

Are there any groups of interest to Muntaha?

As allies to join, she’s drawn to knightly orders like that of New Benalia. As enemies to destroy, she seeks out cults and criminal organizations like the Dimir.

Does Denakax have a spellbook, or artifact book?

In a sense, yes. She travels with a book of commonly-used designs and a notebook to record any cool new ones she finds. She also keeps more extensive notes in her laboratories, although not in a particularly organized manner.

What are Ganara's favorite planes?

Her favourite is Ixalan since it has natural scenic splendour and it’s easy to put a large body of water between herself and any disturbances. In general, she prefers temperate-to-warm planes with unclaimed wilderness and a good amount of ocean.

Are there any beasts Sosiro has an easier time taming? Harder time?

They specialize in large landbound beasts. Flying and aquatic creatures are a lot harder for them to catch and control, but much more rewarding too.

What is Dream-Eyes's favorite plane she's traveled to?

Aside from her native plane of Kamigawa, she likes Kylem - there aren’t many serious dangers there, and her flashy magical weapons are a big hit with the crowds.

What are some of Denakax's best/favorite creations? :D

Her favourite is probably the Draco-Mech. Piloting it is almost like being a dragon herself. She doesn’t get to use it often because it’s hard to transport when inactive, but when she does, it’s spectacular.
