Yesterday I spent the whole afternoon writing and reading in my van, tucked away on a forested road at the base of Mount Rainier. Complete and total solitude. Creativity, and so much happy. And then, this song came on and it started to rain softly.

And it hit me. That same rush of life and happiness that hits when the sky turns pink, or when lightning strikes. In that moment, I felt like I had finally reached the first summit of a wildly long and (sometimes) impossible hike. After so many years of chasing a dream, I was finally in it. Portable toilet and all.

We all have different ideas of happy, and I hope that whoever you are and wherever you are…you find it. This here is mine. Being free, and being outside ↟
