spinning a yard percy jackson au in my mind to cope with a bad day
i envision a rough recreation of the lightning thief with lud as percy, nick as grover, slime as annabeth, and aiden as luke that really focuses on the friendship between lud and slime. but they both kind of subconscious have childhood crushes on aiden because they're 12 (the reason i could never write this is because writing slime as a 12 year old sounds impossible but the pjo world kind of loses its spark when it's adults) and neither processes his betrayal well. but before the betrayal lud is just trying to balance his worry about his mom with the novel experience of feeling like he really fits into this demigod world with swordfighting and quests and friends who understand him. meanwhile nick is 24 wondering why his job is still to shepherd preteens to camp halfblood when he just wants to "look for pan" aka have a sanctioned excuse to travel the world with alex. meanwhile meanwhile aiden is growing anxious about how surprisingly competent the team has been and the headaches he's starting to experience hearing kronos's voice.
tbh i feel like my personal basis of greek mythology is so fucked up because it's all percy jackson and a fucking erotica book series where all the gods are actually title names, like whoever marries the current zeus becomes the current hera but if you kill that zeus then his son inherits the title. an interesting idea but it takes a backseat to the mediocre sex. now there's a modern-take-on-greek-myth au that i would write... if i had infinite time and a clearer vision. maybe one day.

Referring to someone as your “partner” sounds as if you are deliberately obscuring their gender and may subtly out you. “My ex”, however, is entirely unobtrusively gender-neutral. #breakupallrelationships
The key to writing good fanfiction is to harbor a deeply humiliating desire, and the trick there is that even pretty basic and societally-accepted desires like “being held” and “being wanted” CAN and WILL be humiliating if they’re intense enough. Become so estranged from human connection that the idea of someone playing with your hair fills you with yearning so deep you feel like you’re going to throw up and you will write some banger fanfiction. It might have some other consequences too but idrk about that.
ok idk why this is breaking containment but to be clear this post is about Game 3 of the 2026 Stanley Cup Western Conference Finals where the Colorado Avalanche were up 3-0 against the Vegas Golden Knights after the first period and then managed to lose the game 3-5. I do see how it could be interpreted as being about the general disillusionment of adulthood but I was actually talking about ice hockey

aw i’m glad thank you ❤️ i’ve been slacking on the comment replies there because i’m using a different ao3 account (originally i made the one i have linked on this blog for rpf but then i moved my blog back to my main and wanted to keep things consistent) but like i genuinely do smile every time i get comments on those fics. my time in this fandom was such a lovely time. the community is small but incredibly supportive, and it helped me get in a healthier place with my writing where i wasn’t too fussed about how many kudos or whatever i was getting because the fandom was small anyway. so like those fics are still special to me and im glad they stuck with other people too :)
