As you all may know, I am an Asian American, and the rise in anti-Asian hate crimes in the US is tragic and terrifying. A few years ago, my mother and I had unprovoked, racist threats spat at us while we were simply grocery shopping. They didn’t care who we were as people- they just reduced us to our race. I want this space to be positive and encouraging for everyone, and that’s not possible unless I make this space clearly anti-racist. I hope this comic is a hopeful reminder that we’re all able to make the world a better place together! I can’t stop anything alone, but together, we can make a more caring society that welcomes and protects people of all races.

1st Anniversary Cake – Nook Inc. made a 1st Anniversary Cake to commemorate the occasion. It will be sent to players’ in-game mailbox after the update is installed.

Sanrio Sweetness – Add some Sanrio Sweetness to your island. Starting March 26, the Animal Crossing Sanrio Collaboration Pack will be available for purchase at Target stores across the U.S. at a suggested retail price of $5.99 (Note: they have been confirmed for many other regions. Check with your local retailers!). You’ll be able use these six vibrantly designed amiibo cards to invite cute and colorful Animal Crossing residents inspired by popular Sanrio characters to your island, including Rita, Chai and Toby. These amiibo cards exchange bells for special Sanrio-themed furniture and fashion items in-game, too. You can even invite these characters to Harv’s Island for a fun photo session in Photopia.

The new Island Tour Creator launches on March 23 and is a limited-time web service currently planned to be available until the end of this year that lets you use screenshots and footage captured in Animal Crossing: New Horizons to create a poster and trailer for your island. i can’t believe nintendo put our ass on an island with a whole fucking functioning airport and the only other islands we can travel to is harveys and random nook mile islands. i could think of so many cool places. how about a big city where all the NPC live and where you can meet villagers who used to live on your island just like in city folks? or a pirat island where you can meet gulliver and his crew and they send you on a mission to find their lost treasure? or how about an online market where players can sell their special furniture or materials? idk i feel like nintendo lost a lot potential there.
