Gaboon vipers are so gorgeous! 🔥
Adult female Dobsonfly...these guys are huge(this one is 5 inches long!) and scary looking, but if you leave them alone, you have nothing to worry about. The larval stage are called hellgrammites, and are great fishing bait
Wild azalea is so much more beautiful than all these gaudy bushes in people's yards, these are also called Bush Honeysuckle since the flowers look so similar to honeysuckle
Cut this beautiful girl out of a death sentence today...that bird netting is TERRIBLE!!! Luckily it has been quite chilly and this unsuspecting copperhead didn't have the energy to struggle too hard. Ill give hor some heat,, some water,, and a meal...I think she will be just fine 😍Typically by the time I get to these calls, the trapped snake already has multiple deep lacerations... and very few actually recover ☹
Even with a beard... she's still a beautiful young lady 😂
Bearded Dragons are popular pet lizards, originally from Australia
Malaysian King Cobra, this big guy is about 12ft long and is recovering well at our facility after the less-than-ideal conditions he had to endure in his previous situation
West African Gaboon Viper
Our Eastern Box turtles LOVE lunchtime 😂
Queretaro Dusky Rattlesnake (Crotalus aquilus)...these snakes are extremely variable and to make field identification even more of a challenge, they are generally believed to intergrade with other small Mexican rattlesnakes that have overlapping ranges
Beautiful little Lynx Spider on an equally beautiful plant called Rattlesnake Master
And the plant itself
There was another visitor on that same Rattlesnake Master, a bit closer to the ground. Unfortunately, I know zero about grasshoppers lol
Some variation among Carolina pygmy rattlesnakes..on the left is either axanthic (which means it's lacking yellow color pigments) or anerythristic (lacking red), center is one from the southern end of the range, where they intergrade with the Dusky pygmy rattlesnakes (a different, darker subspecies), and on the right is from the northeastern part of their range where most individuals tend to have a reddish color
Eastern Glass Lizard (Ophisaurus ventralis)...at first glance these guys may look like a snake, but closer inspection reveals external ear openings and moveable eyelids, which makes them all lizard. They're also much stiffer than a snake and have a very strong, rigid jaw
Beautiful Eastern Copperhead (Agkistrodon contortrix) crossing a sand road
