People in a fandom who don’t post art/fics, but who reblog/like/follow/otherwise support artists and creators, my beloveds
If artists are the backbone of a fandom, then you all are the muscles. Connecting everyone and everything. Spreading fun and whimsy. That’s real neat, I think
I adore you all so much
~Do you all see what I see?~
~Did you hear the word?~
It’s time!
Technically not all the posters are done.. YET!
But if I start posting the ones I have I’ll have no other choice but to finish them!
Thank you everyone who has engaged with these over the years, it truly keeps me motivated to keep drawing them time and time again. I have come to see these as snapshot of the time. It’s fun to what brushes and techniques I used then.
Digital piece inspired by church stained glass, and The Lords in Black, eldritch monsters from the Hatchetfield trilogy of on-stage musicals by Team Starkid. They're worshiped by the Church of the Starry Children, aka a cult (hence the church window inspo).
Plushies look like this btw
They're demented and I love them! Tinky's panel (the yellow-orange goat thing) turned out as my favorite, but I'm quite happy with all of them. Stained glass effect was achieved by literally just overlaying a png of textured glass and lowering the opacity. And by making all the lines connect to make it feel more real (realized that like halfway through making it lol).
Never done stained glass-esq stuff before, but I've always wanted to try it, and this was a lot of fun!! 10/10 would do it again. I would do physical stained glass, if only I had the budget or skill for that, but alas, we make do.
Having a blorbo is so embarrassing like sorry I have to go and self regulate by looking at The guy
legitimately one of my favorite pictures of Jon. he's so full of whimsy
Starkid is one of the absolute best arguments for supprting independent art. The fact that the shows you're invested in can't get canceled by Big Daddy Streaming, the quality is always amazing, the love of the cast and crew doesn't get squeezed out by surprise budget reductions, the fact that since crowd funding provides almost all costs up front (plus the presence of voluntary digital ticket/in person tickets for additional funding), the fan base can access the full material for whatever cost they can contribute (even if you can give nothing monetarily, you will still get a professionally shot version of the material eventually, without surprise fees or password crackdowns, AND with captions/completely accesible regardless of location). The same goes for Tin Can Bros, Shipwrecked, and all the other associated theater and web series companies loosely connected to Starkid. Like, I cannot believe the amazing content provided to us at the same level as Broadway or streaming services with billion dollars at hand, with almost none of the catches that come with others. Like, I cannot believe that we get all of this right at our hands.
Actively trying to summon them
hi its been a while. have a pokotho
I haven't seen anyone point this out anywhere yet, but the move Paul does during his new lines in Let It Out directly references Max being pulled by the Lords in Black's "invisible tentacles" in NPMD
im sorry for ever doubting you will brenner you were born for this role
hello :) have a webby
tinkys (probably) next because i promised my friend
looking for notable motif shifts in the tgwdlm 2025 reprise
some of these might've been there in the motifs of the 2018 version and probs didn't catch it then, if not just i'm just wrong and it's me hearing different things but:
Let It Out plays when Paul pulls Emma aside after the What Do You Want Paul? scene at Beanies... something something Paul's difficulty with openly being vulnerable. The scene is devoid of bg music in the 2018 version.
Hatchet Town (probably???) plays when Paul and Emma escape Beanies post-Coffee Songs; the town-wide confusion of a dark force killing everyone. In the 2018 version, the fleeting chords of Inevitable are playing
Inevitable plays as Paul receives Hidgens's shotgun, which I'm pretty sure happens as well in 2018, but the way it flourished with the Not Your Seed/Hatchetfield/Nightmare Time melody is different between versions (where the 2018 version transitions into the Let It Out drop, then Nightmare Time motif, versus 2025 where the Inevitable end flourish is intact and plays simultaneously with the Nightmare Time motif)
Did Act II open with chords from Nerdy Prudes Must Die? (the part of the song that goes "Did you really think you'd get away / The hallway's safe, that I won't break you?") If that's what that sounds like, it's probably alluding to the fact that the setting of the scene is at Hatchetfield High
What If Tomorrow Comes, in the exact way its heard in Black Friday's motifs, is very audibly playing when McNamara interrogates Paul, which then transitions to Inevitable and ending with America is Great Again. Compared to the 2018 version, most of the scene is silent up until Paul states his desire to be with Emma, in which Inevitable starts playing. (This last detail is the same in the 2025 version).
Is... is that Time Bastard (the song's chords) playing when Ted stops Paul and Emma to talk about his epiphany after they escaped Hidgens's place? This would check as this leads to Ted literally running away from a situation where he can prove himself to be a good person and failing, in classic doomed-to-the-Bastard's-Box-in-all-timelines fashion, down to the lights being yellow as he leaves Paul and Emma towards his doom. Of course, maybe those aren't the chords but if it is, I mean
this was all i could catch; may those with better ears hear those melodies well
I gave the scene with Ted, Paul and Emma a proper listen and I think it might actually be the show stopping number motif! when Ted says "that little show that guy put on back there" you can hear the notes that go "show stopping number. a real show stopper. a show stopping number come-" and then the "on!" is a different note to the original, going up with a flourish, but I do feel like there is a hint of the chords of time bastard through it as well, especially when Ted says "I have always considered you my best friend." to Paul
TGWDLMR Proshot is out now!
