NES The legend of Zelda
Last week The Legend of Zelda came out on the 3ds in Japan, and hopefully soon it will be available in North America, but this will not only be about the 3ds edition but the NES/Famicom, Gamecube (Collectorâs edition), Gameboy advance and virtual console editions. The legend of Zelda was originally made of the NES and is the first in the successful Legend of Zelda series.
The game has virtually not instruction; you start in the middle of the very large land of Hyrule and have to find a total of nine dungeons. Your only hints to finding the next dungeon is a random room in the previous dungeon with the old man who tells you what area the dungeon will be at. Now at this point youâll really be wishing there was a map of every part of the game but no. either memorize the map or you can find one online and print it off. Also there are plenty of guides and walkthroughs on the internet, including the official Zelda website.
This game is defiantly worth the buy for any system, it can be a very challenging game but itâs even more worth it if you donât use any help and try to find everything, even though it may take a very long time. All of the versions are mostly the game. Some spelling mistakes were changed in latter versions and slight things like that except for the 3ds version. The 3ds version is an exact copy of the NES version. (It even says please hold reset when turning off to avoid damage while on the game over screen) an important thing to know for the 3ds version is that if you hold L, R, and Y down you can switch between first and second controller. This may seem very odd but the second controller is used to access the save screen while on the start menu, otherwise when you die the screen will appear. Every version still has the same great adventure and is defiantly worth your while!
Wario Ware, Inc.: Mega Microgame$
The Wario Ware series is a ton of fun. You have 5 seconds to beat a mini game with no explanation of how to do so with only 4 lives and a boss at the end of each stage which is a mini game with no time limit. All of the Wario Ware games are lots of fun, but they are all very similar. Each game has its own unique puzzles, but follows the same format as mentioned above. The game takes only a few hours to complete and after that you can redo the stages and unlock mini games youâve missed. It also unlocks a mode where you face each boss in a row with 4 lives, thereâs also one entitled âEasyâ where you face as many random mini games as you can in a row, and that unlocks âThrillingâ, which is a medium version of easy.
The game is great when you donât have much time because it doesnât take long to beat a stage. There are also plenty of other games that are just longer versions of the mini games, such as Jump forever (skipping rope), Skating Board, and Paper plane, there are also 2-player games where one person uses the L Button and the other uses R to compete against one another.
I would say if youâve already got a handheld Wario Ware game then skip this one, unless youâre like me and find them very addicting or just want to try out some new puzzles. Otherwise itâs all the same. If youâve got a console version Iâd say still pick up this game though because itâs even better while on the go.
3DS: GBA Yoshiâs Island: Super Mario Advance 3
This was the first GBA ambassador game that I played, mostly because I thought it was going to be Super Mario bros 3. But after I figured out I had read the title wrong I wasnât that disappointed. I had heard that the Yoshiâs island games where great games but I had never played one before. This game was originally for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. Baby Mario had fallen from the sky and the Yoshiâs must help Mario get back to his brother, Luigi who is captured in bowsers castle. Right away on the map you see 5 Worlds then Bowsers castle; you might be thinking itâs going to be a very quick game. Itâs not terribly lengthy, but also not short.
The game plays out like a Mario game would, beat baddies and get to the end then face a boss at the end of each world. It still has the Mario feel to it. The only difference is some baddies you canât squash you have to use your Yoshi eggs to hit them but pressing R once to grab an egg, and R again to throw. The levels have lots of puzzles, but the bosses are all the same. You just throw your eggs at them to beat them. The only difference is the way the boss attacks you.
But this game also comes with Mario Bros. Classic. It was originally invented for the arcade. (and came out before Super Mario bros. on the NES) Classic comes included with all of the Super Mario advance games. You hit the baddies from underneath using the platforms, and once you beat them all you move on the next level. Itâs a very simple concept but can be very addicting.
Both of these games together make one great game. Over all thereâs lots of Mario fun and if the game is available to the public Iâd say defiantly pick it up, itâs worth it. Or if you have access to a GBA copy, because the 3ds version was ripped right from the cartridge, nothing was changed.
3ds ambassador program
This Friday the 3DS , GBA ambassador games came out so I will try to finish them all and review them. I might only get about half way because some are pretty lengthy.
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
As most people probably know, after years of waiting skyward sword was finally released this past Sunday. The Zelda team spent the first 2 years coming up with ideas then started making the actual game that was just release. You may be wondering if the game is worth the while or not. The answer, yes. I wonât ruin any of the games plot points but some things from the beginning may be mentioned.
First i thought I would start off with the most controversial topic of the game, the controls. It seems people either love or hate the controls. The ones that hate it seem to find the controls unresponsive, and that can affect your game entirely considering that the motion controls are used every second of the game. Before playing the game the main thing i worried about was the controls, Iâm not big on motion control because my sensor bar is in a weird place and messed with the pointer, but that was fixed in skyward sword, if the pointer is out of alignment you just press down on the D-pad and it goes back to the middle of the screen. But if the controls where unresponsive, thatâs probably your own fault. When i first began I didnât like the controls and soon grew into it, near the beginning when link flies his loftwing you have to rock the wiiremote up and down to fly up and I must have missed that because i spend 10 minutes trying to figure out what to do. The one control that has the most issues is the jab/stab. You have to thrust the wiiremote forward and it often thinks you are doing a side slash. This is most annoying while facing a beamos, you have to quickly jab it in the eye otherwise you get zapped by a laser. But if you can keep your head clear and youâre not under pressure itâs fairly easy to pull off the jab.
Now on the actual content of the game. I was very spectacle of the content. I didnât want to know anything before buying it so as not to ruin any plot points. But this could be one of the best Zelda games ever, even rivaling ocarina of time. But we will have to wait until the hype dies down for that. The first thing i noticed when arriving on the surface was the game really reminded me of twilight princess. Not because of the content, it just had the same feeling to it. But the game doesnât follow the typical order of things. Usually after every dungeon you return to skyloft but you donât have to, you could just move on to the next area. And you can easily return to skyloft and the place you left off via bird statue, which is also the only way to save in the game. One thing it doesnât follow would be the use of "Dungeons" yes there are plenty of them but a lot of the time you donât even realize that you inside of one until about half way through, itâs very cleverly done.
There are three main areas on the surface and each time you come a new part to the area is unlocked to explore. Iâm not very keen on re-exploring areas but i found it very fun to do this time around. There is one part of the game where you have to search for some objects, once I found out how much time it would take i was beginning to dread it, as memories of searching for the triforce in wind waker flooded back to my mind, but the controls really made those parts fun, even boss battles. If it had been regular standard controls all you would think about is how challenging the game is. But now all you think about is how much fun it is to swing around your sword like link does or use one of his items.
The game took a lot of misfit items from previous games and put it into skyward sword. They werenât really that memorable of items but skyward sword made them memorable. To switch between items you hold down B and move the pointer around to choose 1 item to use while the area around you is unpaused. It makes the game a lot more realistic and Its not much of a hindrance.
The game has taken a lot of parts of previous games and put a fresh look on them. The game has plenty of content and everyone will enjoy it. New fans to the series will be able to follow along but there are also many parts for long time zelda fans. The game has an amazing plot and you never know what could happen there are so many different options, and we finally get some questions in the zelda timeline answered but it also leads to some new ones. This game is a definite pick up for any gamer. Thereâs the regular edition or the edition with a golden zelda wiiremote (with wiimotion plus) with the hyrule/triforce symbol on the front for a nice touch. The current editions come bundled with the 25th anniversary soundtrack but wonât be around for long so you had better pick up a copy while you still can!
Hey
Just thought Id say post this to say the blog is about Nintendo games. I have quite a few for all systems so I thought i would write about them and also try to keep on top of some of the newest games and write about them when they first come out for the 3ds and wii.
