In late 2020, I started following the New York Millennials Blaseball team. I knew very little about NYC at the time, but they had a phone icon, and that was good enough for me.

In March of 2021, I was voted to be a Captain by the community, basically a mod of our separate discord and an elected community leader on the main Blaseball discord. I had learned quite a bit more about NYC by this point, gradually osmosising knowledge as people talked about the city.

I remained a Mills captain until late June, about three months talking every single day with people who talked about the city.

One specific point of Mills lore is that Staten Island doesn't exist in Blaseball, and instead they have Battin' Island, a floating stadium island accessible by doors in the back of every bodega in the city.

While I largely left the main community in June 2021, I still hung out with some Mills after that, as well as several other friends who live in NYC and would mention the city on occasion.

I physically went there for a Drawfee show last year. I actually saw Citi Field from the highway as I was driving home. Let's go Mets.

Today, at 1AM EST, March 21, 2026, I learned what Staten Island actually was. And I was told by a kind friend that what I had circled on the map, which I thought was Staten Island, was actually _Long_ Island.

So I guess I'm one of today's Lucky 10,000 to find out what Staten Island is. So thanks, @niolachein.
