II. ABOUT
for as long as nisa could remember, she had always hated her father. despite being the eldest of thirteen daughters to the king of thailand, nisa was never given the respect she deserved as princess. her childhood was spent moving between thailand and singapore, and she caught on early that it was her father’s doing, that he’d chose to send her, her mother, and eventually her younger sister mai away whenever he saw fit. she watched him replace her mother with other women, replace her and mai with other daughters. there was no relationship to her and king rama; she was dispensable. and it made nisa cold.
despite her harrowing relationship with her father, nisa’s relationship with her mother and mai were anything but. the three women were extremely close, bonded by the unique situation the king had put all of them through. when nisa got older, she began to resent her mother for her tumultuous relationship with her father. while of course she loved her, nisa hated seeing the blatant disrespect her mother was treated with, and how she went back to him every time their banishment was over. mai being born was nisa’s true solace, quite possibly the only good thing her father had ever given her. with mai she had a partner in life, and despite knowing she had eleven other biological sisters, nisa never felt like she needed anyone else.
nisa hated her father, and hated the tumultuous banishment she had to go through routinely, but it didn’t stop her from loving her country. singapore would always have a soft place in her heart, but she was a thai princess through and through, a title that she was deeply proud of, even when it was unofficially taken away from her. despite knowing there was little power she held as a woman, even as the first born, it had never stopped nisa from learning more about politics, ambitious in her thirst for knowledge. while mai stayed in singapore for her studies, nisa was adamant about studying in thailand.
she stayed in thailand well after graduation, well after her father passed away and her uncle took his place. nisa’s mother had always whispered to her that she was the true heir to the thai throne, and that there was more she could do for their country that her uncle or her half-sister wora wouldn’t dream of. the competition between kham laksanara and yok rattanawadee was something nisa knew very well, having grown up being told only the worst about her half-sisters born from yok. but she also knew there was truth to her mother’s words—that yok was more alike to nisa’s late father than she was to kham or nisa, and her daughter was likely no different. thailand suffered at the hands of nisa’s father, and was doing no better with her uncle on the throne. if the country she loved so much was going to get any better, she’d have to step in and do something about it.
having studied politics for most of her life, nisa would be lying if she said she never thought about what it’d be like to one day be queen. in a country like thailand, it felt like a pipe dream at most—but once nisa got her sights set on something, she was to give it her all. it helped that mai was a thailand darling, with more followers than any of their other sisters. as a team they were a force to be reckoned with, and nisa had mai join the program a few months before her, wanting to test the waters before she decided to join the group. the goal is to make allies and connections that can help her cause in the long run, and she’s not afraid to make sacrifices to get it ( trying to marry her sister off to a chinese prince, for example ) . nisa has her eye on the prize, and if the king of thailand isn’t careful, he might just lose his crown.
nisa has always been ambitious, but since starting this campaign alongside mai and her mother, it’s become her sole priority. everything she does is for her country, and whether she’s awake or asleep, it’s completely consumed her thoughts. unlike her half-sister wora, nisa is sincere in her efforts to help thailand, even if she doesn’t always come out looking the best in her efforts. she’s absolutely not a people person, coming off blunt and detached compared to wora’s charm. it’s why mai is so strong beside her, the warmth to nisa’s frost.
III. HEADCANONS
she generally has no interest in the affairs of her half-sisters ( particularly yok’s girls ) , but a few hold exceptions. the one she likes the best is araya, who nisa remembers growing up with when they were girls briefly, and knows she shares a similar history of banishments from their father. nisa would be lying if she said getting on araya’s good side wasn’t partially due to her cause, but there is genuine interest to get to know her better, even if she doesn’t come off always warm and fuzzy.
nisa is a woman of few words, and tends to have a resting bitch face that makes it pretty hard to guess what’s going inside her head. first impressions can be rough for her, but the more you get to know her, the easier it gets.
she’s a skilled mahjong player, to the point where she can’t remember the last time she lost a game. she also loves chess, but isn’t as good.
she can speak eight languages : thai, english, malay, mandarin, arabic, spanish, french, and hindi. she knows traces of some others, but not as strongly.
nisa is also the duchess of south thailand, a title her uncle had given her shortly after her father passing. she takes the role very seriously, and is quite loved among its citizens.
