* in the months that they’d been apart, the hallowed places that had housed them as an unbreakable whole had begun, naturally, to shift and phase into adjusting to the changes, minute though they appeared to be. initially. he’d eased serenely into the routines of heartbreak, not unlike his previous dalliances, and in the farce of normalcy he comes to terms with all the ways in which they’d been lacking. when you’re in the heady throes of love ( in the case you find yourself unlucky enough to find any semblance of it, real or not, founded or not ) you really only feel the parts that fit right, the tactility, how everything seems to drip and be drenched in that rutilant light of sunset. when you’re out cold from the aftermath, the fissures begin to amass and overwhelm — now it’s ` your laptop’s still here. don’t bother coming, i’ll have it sent to your place. ` he dallies on the brink of sending the text, thumb pad hovering over the screen, eyes half - lidded, features twisted in what was a rare and ( he was sure ) unbecoming frown. the brief hesitation strikes a memory and in it, he’s giving his assistant leave for her deserved vacation to the maldives. and, really, he hears her pipe up from across scores of land and water, to chide him — you’re being childish. his door is six paces from yours. twelve, if we consider the way you drag yourself to places you don’t want to be at. huffing, irked, kieran slips the laptop and its bag under an arm and lugs himself to xavier’s door. knocks, once, hard, and the only thing he manages to bruise is his own knuckles. / * 𝒅𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒕, @driftsaway .

* the complex swiftly assumed the role of instigator and perpetrator following her brief encounter with 𝒂𝒑𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒇𝒊𝒇𝒕𝒆𝒆𝒏'𝒔 leah cho — of whom, yes, she’d heard, seen, yet had never sought more than a fleeting hello by the lifts with. until, of course, until now. aika thinks it’s how everything seems to thread itself together these days, a self - winding rope that she can’t see the end or gauge the length of. she navigates it the same way she meanders through their shared quarters, like a trained bloodhound — only in her case, she learns, by heart, the corridors and alcoves that leah never really seems to pop up in and sticks to them like varnish. if she can avoid it, she will. aika knows hoq to stick a landing. she’s hurtled off of skyscrapers and window edges and planted both palms on certainty, the promise of surety. leah is the modicum of anxiety sitting beneath her lungs before the fall ; the breach in the net she couldn’t predict. and so it seemed almost preordained, because she’d been so good about keeping away, that they’d meet in the dead of noon, by the mail lockers. ` you’re here — 𝑾𝑯𝒀 ? it’s wednesday. lunchtime. you’re not supposed to be here until three. ` she’s indignant, cheeks dappling a faint pink, as if wronged in some inexplicable way, irrationally irked that she’d been caught like this. / * 𝒅𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒕, @effervxscents .

“okay but listen right.” sabrina started out as she placed her things aside to talk to the other person. “i had posted on facebook about the chiefs winning the superbowl.. one of my friends commented, ‘i don’t know that guy, but i hope he’s a nice guy congratulations to him’ i was very confused what she meant, then i was like the football team?? she proceeded to say, ‘was that the football team to open for the shakira concert… i was… i didn’t know what to say to that.” she said softly shaking her head, “i left her hanging since i don’t know how to reply to that.”

* ` i’ll be perfectly honest with you, ` soren murmurs, nearly close - lipped, his fingertips skimming over the curve of his chin, ` the way you tell it now, i’d be highly surprised if you could conjure up a response. i know i couldn’t. ` he smiles, kindly, and considers the story. if he weren’t sorely uninformed — which, make no mistake, he enjoys football and watching grown men gambol across a grassy stretch after a checkered ball just as much as the next new yorker ; it’s just, considering his disposition and state of employment, playing catch up with super bowl ( 𝒐𝒇 𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔 ! ) just hasn’t been a priority of his — he would, of course, make the appropriate commentary and assure her that he did in fact understand her friend’s motivations. but alas. ` are you more confused about the aspect of the win or the prospect of the ridiculous concert opening ? `
