فالعاقل من دارى نفسه في الصبر بوعد الأجر، وتسهيل الأمر، ليذهب زمان البلاء، سالمًا من شكوى، ثم يستغيث بالله تعالى سائلًا العافية.

The wise person is the one who soothes himself in patience with the promise of reward and the easing of hardship, so that the time of affliction passes while he remains free of complaint—then he seeks refuge in Allah, asking for well-being.

It is enough bliss for a person to be aware of Allah’s subtle kindnesses toward him.

سَيُفْتَحُ بَابٌ إِذَا سُدَّ بَابُ

نَعَمْ، وَتهُونُ الأُمُورُ الصِّعَابُ

A door will open when one is shut,

Yes—hard matters will become easy.

وَيتَّسِعُ الحَالُ مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا

تَضِيقُ المَذَاهِبُ فِيهَا الرِّحَابُ

Circumstances widen after they constrict,

When all paths seem tight, space appears.

مَعَ الهَمِّ يُسْرَانِ هَوِّنْ عَلَيْكَ

فَلاَ الْهَمُّ يُجْدِي، وَلاَ الاكْتِئَابُ

With worry come two eases—so lighten your heart,

For neither grief nor depression will avail.

فَكَمْ ضِقْتَ ذَرْعاً بِمَا هِبْتَهُ

فَلَمْ يُرَ مِنْ ذَاكَ قَدْرٌ يُهَابُ

How often you dreaded a matter, distressed,

Yet found in it nothing truly to fear.

وَكَمْ بَرَدٍ خِفْتَهُ مِنْ سَحَابٍ

فَعُوفِيت، وَانْجَابَ عَنْكَ السَّحَابُ

How often you feared cold rain from clouds,

But were spared, and the storm dissolved away.

وَرِزْقٍ أَتَاكَ وَلَمْ تَأْتِهِ

وَلاَ أَرَّقَ العَيْنَ مِنْهُ الطِّلابُ

And provision came to you though you sought it not,

Nor did your eyes lose sleep in pursuit of it.
