I'm starting to come around on Dark Side Obi-Wan AUs, but I just cannot see him becoming emperor. That's Palpatine's thing. Obi-Wan hates dealing with politicians and bureaucracy. Running the entire galaxy would be his own personal hell.

My ideal dark side Obi-Wan is someone who has finally snapped after losing every single person he loved and deciding to go to extreme measures to prevent that from ever happening again. I love when the Dark Side is something deeply personal, not the power to control the galaxy but the power to save your loved ones at any cost, even if it means betraying your closest held ideals.

Despite my love for the prequels, I have to admit I’ve always found the romance between Anakin and Padmé hard to buy. Hear me out: in TPM Padmé is 14, and she sees Obi-Wan—a young Jedi Knight—save her planet. He’s older, strong, brave, and very handsome. Teenage girls always go for older guys, so she shound have had a massive crush on him.

Yet, in that movie, she looks after 9-year-old Anakin like a second mother—covering him up, dressing him, reassuring him—and then, when she sees him again ten years later, he’s turned into a whiny, petulant teenager, and she falls madly in love with him ialmost instantly ???!!

I’ve always struggled to understand how she could have fallen in love with him in AOTC.

To me, Padmé should have only had eyes for Obi-Wan (obviously). It’s largely this inconsistency that made the "Anidala" romance unconvincing to me—even more so than the lack of direction for the actors, the absurd dialogue, and the lack of chemistry between the two leads (whom I actually like a lot otherwise).

If you have any recommendations, I’m looking for Obi/Anakin fics where Padmé has a crush on Obi-Wan instead of Anakin. I’d love a story where Anakin is very jealous—first of Obi-Wan, and then of Padmé once he realizes she might just steal his Obi-Wan away. It could be obidala or obianidala but end game is obikin.
