Pedro part 3

After realizing that the last post was way too long I decided to split it in two. So here is the actual analysis.

We don't know exactly how it happened but I'm pretty sure that John's "proof" of Hero's cheating was very convincing given that he seems to be an excellent manipulator. He most likely got Claudio and Pedro to see what he wanted them to see, and I don't think either of them had presence enough to do some objective analysis at that moment. What I think went down was John taking the boys to the Dukes' house, Robbie and Meg doing their thing with John doing his and Claudio getting really upset. This must have clouded Pedro's judgement and he probably got so in tune with Claudio's reaction that he "forgot" to make up his own mind.

What I think happened next was him being all focused on Claudio. Claudio is in pain and he's Pedro's friend so of course Pedro is going to help him the best he can. Had he been another type, like any introvert, this would have been the time for contemplation but since he's an insecure ENFJ with a loved one in need, ain't nobody got time for that. I think this must have been at the time of the Hypothetically video. Maybe it's just me, but doesn't he seem a tiny bit annoyed with Ben in that video, at least in the beginning? It's like he's thinking "Dude, can't you take anything seriously? And why must you always question everything? Our friend is hurting and I don't want him to feel worse than he does." Might just be me but I think this is the beginning of the fallout of their friendship. Then comes the party and everything, in lack of a better term, goes to shit.

Before I continue, the last confirmed interaction between Pedro and Hero before her birthday is at his costume party and that time span is a bit over a month. We know that the whole group had pizza at one point but we don't know if they actually had a conversation. What I'm trying to say is that I'm not surprised that the guy sided with Claudio because

He and Claudio are very close friends while he and Hero are essentially friends of friends

She was cheating on that close friend right before his own eyes he thought

Even if he did realize that she was innocent which I think he might it wouldn't matter because being a good friend is more important than doing "what's right". What does that even mean? Really?

After the party I think he only hung out with Claudio and maybe Balthazar even though that's unlikely. At the very least I believe that his first interaction with Ben after the birthday was in the "Brothers" video. That would mean that they hadn't seen each other in a few weeks and would explain why he acts pretty much like nothing happened. You can tell that he knows something is up with Ben though but as soon as Claudio starts talking he's right back in "Claudio"-mode which has gone from "Oh man, I'm so sorry, let me ease your pain" to "Let's do fun stuff to keep your mind off everything". I guess this is the reason he insists on doing something. It's not until Ben speaks up that he gets out of that "Claudio"-bubble he's been living in. It's probably after that that he gets really concerned about John.

Then the "Hero is dead/sick"-rumour happens and that's when it all falls apart. It must be like being hit with a brick wall of guilt and shame. For someone who cares so much about what others think it has to be the worst thing that can happen. Like he says in Project V - For Hero, it's their fault. He knows that he's not the All Round Great Guy anymore and can never be and that's painful. I think it's at at point he decides to actually be a good person rather than just coming off as one and that's why he just welcomes John back. Let's just hope he's learnt anything from all this.

Pedro part 2

In my last post about Pedro I tried to determine what his type is as well as providing evidence for my conclusion. (Read it right here) This time, I'll analyze if there's anything about his personality type that can explain his behaviour, especially in the Claudio/Hero situation.

So, according to me and a few other people, Pedro is an ENFJ. What does that mean? (Read my first post dummy)

A quick summary is that ENFJs are extremely focused on other people and to some degree, especially of they're unhealthy/insecure, live through them. This is due to a fine intuition turned outwards. They are along with INFJs known to be the most empathic of all the types and probably have the best people skills, which makes them extremely charming and appealing and just the kind of people you want to be around. Like I mentioned in my last post, Jesus was an ENFJ. Says a lot about the kind of people they are, doesn't it? Jesus - All Round Great Guy?

Now, I think I'm not the only one who has picked up on the fact that Pedro is actually kinda insecure. I mean, he's a teenager and who isn't at that age. Add the whole family/John situation and you get a guy who has a few issues. As an ENFJ his main goal is basically to help people and be liked. What happens when that combines with insecurity and self esteem issues is overcompensation and conformity. An unhealthy/immature ENFJ becomes obsessed with fitting in and "being normal" to the point where they lose their sense of self. They just want to be loved. Due to their sensitivity to others they turn into people pleasers who can sometimes come off as rather shallow. This isn't a conscious choice but an instinctual reaction and most individuals with strong Fe (Myself included) have at some point been in a situation where they've been so affection by someone else that they've forgotten all about logic and their own opinion and feelings. This is what I think happened to Pedro.

John

Another INTJ villain. How about that? Way to be original, Shakespeare. Just kidding. He was probably among the first to use that trope or whatever you'd call it.

He's an introvert. He literally has one close friend. Enough said.

He's intuitive. Master planner extraordinaire? Using people like chess pieces? Ni - Te in a nutshell.

He's a thinker. The only reason he bothers with people is to make as much use of them as possible to further his own goals. The guy doesn't really care about feelings other than his own and even those don't seem to be his main concern.

He's a judger. Allow me to laugh. HAHAHAHAHA Seriously though. Did he make ANYTHING up along the way? Sure, he might have used situations to his advantage as they've come but he still conducted all of this drama with one, and only one, goal in mind.

Honestly, John Donaldson is a perfect example of an UNHEALTHY INTJ. He's obviously a broken individual who uses his intelligence and amazing strategic abilities to hurt people. Let's hope he heals, learns from his experiences and becomes a better person.

It’s really interesting to read about this because I took a reasonably official looking online test that said I was an INFP. While I do feel a connection with Balthazar, I feel like a different sort of introvert. I really can connect with what you said about Pedro validating other’s feelings. When I’m upset, that is what I really want, and what I try to do for others.

Let me first break down some of the most common mbti compatibility theses.

Opposites - You’re most compatible/attracted to your opposite type (Dual). E.g. ESTJ - INFP

Temperament - You are most compatible with people of the same temperament E.g. ISFJ - ESFJ/ESTJ/ISTJ

Perceiving - You are most compatible with those whom you share perceiving function e.g. N-types - N-types

Reversed dominant - You are most compatible with those who have the same dominant function but of the opposite attitude e.g. Ti-dom - Te-dom

Opposite attitudes - You are most compatible with someone who has the same middle letters but opposite in extraversion/introversion and perceiving/judging e.g. INFJ - ENFP

Personally, I think there is truth to all these ideas but that they apply better to some types than others. For example, sensing judgers usually like other sensing judgers due to their shared love for tradition while NTs with their high standards tend to be hard to please and not suitable together for marriage. How do Pedrazar match up according to these theories?

This seems like a perfect match. Well, it’s not quite that simple. To be honest, the last two points are actually double-edged swords. When two people with that kind of dynamic come together, yes they might be complementary but it also means that they don’t function the same way and might have trouble understanding and accepting one another. Still, since both are NFs and generally good at reading people as well as sympathy and empathy, I wouldn’t think it would be a huge problem as long as they communicate.

One of the ways INFPs and ENFJs complete each other is emotional expression. As Introverted Feeling dominants INFPs keep their emotions on the inside and it's often difficult to tell what is going on inside their heads and hearts. They tend to feel the deepest of all the types but show the least. Many of them are shy and/or insecure and struggle to find their place in the world. For the most part, they're more aware own their own feelings and emotions rather than those of the people in their surrounding. This is very different from ENFJs. As dominant extraverted feelers they put most of their emotional focus on others. Because of this they are most likely extremely socially competent and have tons of friends. If not, ENFJs become miserable. Another difference is that ENFJs wear their hearts on their sleeves; you can almost always tell what their thinking and feeling. In fact, they are known for being the most expressive of all the types. This is due to the nature of Fe. It puts equal amounts of energy at "feeling/intuit" the surrounding people as on expressing the own emotions and feelings, which, because it's the dominant function, A LOT.

(Sidenote: It's most likely due to strong Fe that INFJs and ISFJs often come off as extraverts)

PS: In almost every compatibility rating I’ve seen ENFJ and INFP are among the best matches for each other, if not the best

tl;dr

Even though they’re quite different in terms of behaviour they have similar values and complement each other beautifully, so much that they could be soulmates

i definitely think ben's an ENFP because i'm an ENFP and i basically AM ben. Then again i always want my favorite characters to be the same as me, so i'm biased! :P

I’m still considering his type but he’s TOTALLY an Ne-dom. The extraverted intuition that boy has is amazing.

Personally, I think that Ben IxTx, I'm not sure about the others. It could be me projecting, but he seems like primarily an introvert with the ability to come off as an extravert, even though he supports people when he feels overwhelmed (Ep. 22 - 25). Also, seeing his interactions with others, he seems to be much more of a thinking person than a feeling, while he is sensitive to the feelings of others, he relies primarily on logic it seems.

I see where you’re coming from, but I’m not sure if I can get your theory to make sense.

Let’s say that he’s an introvert thinker. That gives us the following options for type:

INTP

INTJ

ISTP

ISTJ

I don’t think he’s a sensor because

He does a few too many unconventional/weird things (vlogging the the bathtub, The Sloths Will Go On, the PIZZA video) than I think an ISTJ would and he’s not obsessed with tradition, planning and time like one either

Even though he plays football he doesn’t seem like much of a natural athlete and is way too clumsy and physically awkward to be a strong extraverted sensor so that rules out ISTP

So, with INTP and INTJ left, is there any other character of either type that we can compare him to? Yes. John.

I’m am 99.9% sure that John Donaldson is an INTJ. First of all, he’s the villain and LOTS of villains are INTJs. He also personifies the “non-talkative morally questionable planning genius chess master a la Moriarty” INTJ archetype. Does any of that sound like Ben? Not really. Ben’s more of the “think-while-speaking go-with-the-flow” kinda guy. So that makes him not an INTJ.

He’s an INTP then?

Personally, I don’t think an INTP, or any other introvert, could be as expressive for that amount of time as he is. The introverted types that usually come of as extraverted are INFJs and ISFJs which is due to strong Fe and even they have a limit. (Extraverted Feelers are known for being emotionally expressive and sensitive to others) If he’s a thinker, that would mean that he at most could have feeling as his third strongest function and if he’s an INTP, his Fe would be dead last of his conscious functions and therefore complete crap.

Compare him to Ursula who most likely IS an INTP. Both her and Ben are awkward but in very different ways. She doesn’t say much and when she does it’s well-thought-out. He on the other hand has a tendency to blurt out whatever’s on his mind without much consideration.

tl;dr I would agree with you that he might be a thinker but I don’t think he’s either a sensor or an introvert

MBTI 101: Introversion-Extraversion

When you first find out your MBTI type it's most likely just a four-letter combination. What do they mean? What's the difference between between F and T? Does it even matter?

So, the first letter in each type is either I or E with I for Introversion and E for Extraversion (or extroversion). You've probably heard about that before in the context of "He's so introverted" about someone who's shy or "I can't stand being alone. I'm such an extravert". While there might be some truth in these statements it's not quite that simple. Extraversion and introversion are just words for people who either gain or drain energy on interacting with the outside world.

Introverts have a low threshold for stimulation. This is because they process impressions and information they gather on a very deep level and therefore can't handle much of it at the same time. (Like HQ pictures on your computer. They look amazing but they take up lots of memory) Not only does this generally make them very creative due to a vivid inner world, but also quiet, seemingly dull, reclusive and socially awkward to the people around them. Introverts usually aren't very social and prefer to have a few close relationships rather than loads of acquaintances. When find someone they connect with, it can last a life time.

Extraverts have a high stimulation threshold, As they handle information without the depth of introverts, it makes the whole process a lot faster. (Sticking with the picture metaphor, it's like decent-looking photos that you can just pile up) This lets them be more expressive and more exciting than introverts but also a lot more prone to boredom and loneliness. Often extraverts have tons of friends and acquaintances and feel "The more, the merrier".

These are of course stereotypes. Like most things in life, introversion-extraversion is a spectrum; you have the hermits and the party animals, but also a lot in between. Some extraverts are shy and some introverts love to hang out and that has nothing to do with whether they're an I or an E. Just because you're right-handed doesn't mean your left hand is just a slab of meat attached to your arm, am I right?
