âThanks again for driving me home. I know itâs a pain in the ass,â you said, dropping your house keys on the table just inside the door.
Dean shrugged his hands into his pockets. âItâs really no problem. I donât mind.â
âWell, hopefully they have my car fixed tomorrow,â you added, pulling your boots off.
He shook his head and looked at you earnestly. âI still canât believe you took it to that place. You should have just let me fix it for you,â he said gruffly.
You gave him a vague smile, taking in the stubble on his face and that strong Winchester jaw line. âNah. I donât want to bother you with that. Itâs bad enough you have to haul me all over town.â
âFor the ninetieth time, I donât mind.â
Your eyes locked with his as you gave him a vague smile. And you werenât sure exactly what came over you but you suddenly needed him to know what was always going on behind your words. âYou should stay,â you said.
He stared at you intensely for a moment and his eyebrows furrowed slightly. âAre you okay? Is someone giving you trouble?â he asked. The gravel in his voice deepened.Â
You laughed. Dean, always the protector. âNo. No⊠justâyou should stayâŠâ
He stared at you for another long moment, seemingly not comprehending, or not willing to make the leap and be disappointed if he was wrong. ââŠ.what?â
Now you smiled a little shyly, lightly laughing at his reaction, but you stood and went to him. He was studying you intently as you moved closer and you grabbed the front of his jacket and pulled him toward you.
His green eyes were searching your face as you closed the distance to his lips with yours, and you were set ablaze as he returned the kiss. When you broke, you both felt a little out of breath and he was staring down at you in amazement.
âIs that for driving you home, because,â he gulped âIâve driven you home every night this week,â he said, managing a small smile at his own joke, but his eyes still a bit wide with disbelief about what was happening.
You laughed and tugged a little on his jacket lapel. âThen you definitely better stay.â
