Dream to Winn (Adam+Noah)
Adam considered Noah’s question. Since the whole Somnivore meltdown a couple months ago, Adam had done some digging into Astral stuff, more to give context to his experiences than any practical purpose. Adam wasn’t a deeply abstract guy by nature, which really didn’t help when trying to wrap his brain around philosophical writings on a transcendental realm of pure thought. Honestly, Adam couldn’t imagine many other subjects he was less suited for. But we can’t chose our experiences.
Adam took a delicate silver chain from his backpack, its length only slightly longer than a necklace, and placed it on the table. The overhead lights evoked a dull sheen on its intricate filigree, the argent metal inlaid with tree-like symbols crafted by hands far more deft that Adam’s calloused and oft-broken fingers could’ve ever managed.
“Imagine another world where thought and emotion are all that exists., full of the dreams, spirits, nightmares, hopes, and fears of everyone who has ever lived,” Adam began slowly as he uncorked water bottles full of suspiciously ambiguous liquids and began to pour them into a mug. “That’s the Astral, where Winn is doing his inner wolf thing right now.”
“If we had magic powers, getting there would be easier, but unless you’re are a secret wizard or ghost-whisperer,” Adam’s gaze lifted to Noah and lingered with an interrogative lift of brown eyebrows. His tone was jesting, but really Noah might be a powerful magic user for all he knew. “Us plebs we get there by dreaming…or by putting ourself in a state kinna like dreaming,” Adam nodded to the cocktail of possibly illicit substances he was mixing up for Noah.
“Not going the lie dude, the Astral can be dangerous. Not just dreams the live there, but all the nightmares too. Some of those nightmares are alive and want to either eat your spirit or possess your body.”
Noah looked at Adam with furrowed brows as he tried to make sense of what was happening on the table. There was a lot of props and suspicious smelling liquids that Noah couldn’t help but wrinkle his sensitive nose at. “So basically you mean like the dreamscape place we just left? Or completely different?”
Catching on to what Adam was saying though Noah scoffed slightly. “No, I’m just part-” He started before pausing, gaze on Adam mind suddenly realizing that, they’d never had this talk before. He’d known Adam for quite some time and still only realized he was a damn hunter a couple months ago. “Wait you know what I am right?” The words were out of his mouth before his instincts kicked in and Noah realized that... maybe telling a Hunter you were part werewolf while you were alone with them in someone else home was not the smartest idea? And it wasn’t that the didn’t trust Adam or anything as a person, but this wasn’t something they had talked about. Ever. And he didn’t exactly want to open that can of worms right before he was going to go tripping if he could help it, you know. “I mean, will it matter? If I’m not... fully human?” Noah corrected with a loud throat clear. He hoped it wouldn’t.
Sitting up a bit straighter as Adam mentioned the danger Noah just, well, shrugged, mind already made up. “Well I mean, its either this or let my partner rot in his mind, so I guess. Thats what we’re gonna do”
