The Anti-Monarchists of Windenburg broke through the palace gates, killing the Royal Cavalry Guards and the Royal Army guards stationed outside.
Staff warned Crown Prince Jon and the remainder of the royal household of the threat at the front gates. They were rushed to the King's bedchambers where they all hid and remained hiding for hours. Prince Jon also sent a wire to the Commander of the Windenburg Armed Forces to reclaim the palace, but it would take a few hours to bring the levies to the palace.
In that time, the rebel peasants of the anti-monarchist forces made their way down the ornate halls of the palace, stealing anything in their paths. They made their way up the main stairwell, breaking down door after door until they found the King's bedchamber. The Crown Prince (soon to be king in a couple of days) was taken captive along with the remainder of the royal household.
They marched with the royal household (except for Princess Kayla who was at the Brick Palace at this time to retrieve historical artifacts) to the main courtyard. Prince Jon had kept good communication with Princess Kayla, but went silent when he was captured. The Princess called the armed forces, arguing them to speed their garrison's march to the palace.
The garrison finally made it to the Windenburg Bluffs while the royal household was being dragged out into the courtyard, ready to become political prisoners. The garrison charged at the rebels in the courtyard, fighting their way in. With the superior machinery, they were making good progress in saving the royals. Finally when the Armed Forces got to the final line of defense, the anti-Monarchists had shot the Crown Prince, shortly after they were shot down by the armed forces.
The Armed Forces collected all that was stolen from the palace and left it in the courtyard, ordering the royal household's staff to put it back to the original places and to clean the palace before Princess Kayla arrived.
She was to become the new Queen. With the death of both her Mother, Father, and Brother, she was left in a long state of mourning, but she had an entire kingdom that needed to be healed.
