I feel like I'm the only one who characterizes A differently than everyone else (I know that’s a over-generalization) but I think since A was suicidal people immediately assign him with the trope of appearing sad, meek, and unable to speak up for himself because its a common depiction of ‘depressed’ people in media. I think hes the opposite. I dont think hes very kind either, he can be cruel, its why he was closest friends with someone like Beyond, but I imagine he was more confrontational, outspoken and tried to follow his dreams until Wammy’s quashed them.

That is my general headcanon, but to be honest, A is such a fascinating character because you can be so versatile with their personality and gender. in two wips, I have him as a guy, in another wip, she is a woman, and in another they are nonbinary. And even though I do have this general headcanon, in my wips he does have variations of his personality. In one wip, he’s a bully alongside Beyond, but when Beyond goes too far, he backs off, showing that he does have lines he will not cross. In another wip, they are exceptionally kind, and outspoken, welcoming to the new kids at wammys. It really depends on the plot, which is why he can be so useful to a story since he isn’t strictly bound to a canon characterization.

The two best reasons to ship anything are:

1.Incredible deep and detailed narrative themes. The parallels that seem to hit just right, the narrative foils that they can be to each other, the intricate dynamic that's both extremely complex and easily understood. The juxtaposition between something that's harsh and undoubtedly toxic, with the softer undertones, the parts where you read in-between the lines and find a mutual feeling of loneliness from both parts, their intrinsic understanding of each other comes from the mere fact that they're each others mirrored reflections and shadows. In the end both sides will be together forever, and you as an audience can clearly see their tragedy laid out before in a path that blurs pure anguish and tender romance
