Colourfully decorated fingers wiggled in the direction of the oven, a face made to the blackened smoke starting to rise.

“Then why is it burning?”

Not that Kou knew what he was doing either, he simply had the recipe on his phone and the image of what it was supposed to look like. However, it seemed the overly privileged Sakamaki at his side didn’t either. Now they were both just standing there, staring on at the burnt confection.

They should’ve –could’ve ordered a cake by now.

          kanato huffed in reply. he had been in such a good mood— he’d finished working on one of his dolls, played dress up with teddy, and now he was ready to sit down and eat a slice of cake in peace. shu’s presence was usually not a nuisance, as he was typically quiet, but the eldest vampire’s constant complaints quickly stirred up kanato’s frustration.

         he could have just left, yes, but his good mood hadn’t left him completely ( not that he would admit it ). so he gave in and begrudgingly dropped two large folded blankets on his older brother. besides, kanato wanted to eat his cake here, and he was too stubborn to take his cake and teddy elsewhere. 

         kanato settled back into his seat, carefully placing teddy on his lap, ❝ i want to be in here, but you were annoying me. just be thankful i gave you what you wanted, yes? ❞

Scarlett looked up as a familiar face stepped through the bakery door. Her lips twitched in a smile as she leaned over the counter, elbows resting atop the marble surface. "Well hello lovely! Lost again?"

          kanato entered through the doors, letting the sweet scent of the bakery entice him inside. he held teddy snugly in his arms as he examined the shop, eyes wandering from the tables, to the walls, to the girl at the counter.

         something about her seemed…familiar.it was when she spoke he remembered who she was.

         this girl had boldly assumed he had gotten lost ( even though he might have )! his whereabouts had been none of her business. he didn’t need her help.

          before he could dwell on it for too long, kanato reminded himself he would be getting sweets. he decided to ignore their previous encounter and roll with it.

         ❝ actually, ❞ he spoke calmly, stepping toward the counter, ❝ i’m here for sweets. ❞
