Realising I love the relationship dynamic of 'I tricked you, it was all a lie, I only ever used you and never loved you' / 'I will kill and deny any emotion I ever felt for you and will bring about your downfall' except they both caught feelings along the way, fundamentally changed each other, will always wonder if they'd made different choices if things could have worked out, and most importantly, never address any of this and instead make it everybody's problem.

if anyone wants to finish the fic in their own way, they could make a separate fic on ao3, with the same/similar title, indicating it's a continuation. Also make it obvious it's not the original author, lol. But anyone who wants to do that, go ahead. I give my blessing!

Hii I’ve read through the tumblr+fic and seen how a big part of NCi7 is that they get better at communicating? Cody has seemed adamant about it since the beginning so I’m just wondering what it is about him and his communication that needs improving? And as for Noah, is Noah hiding things still even in chapter 16?

You’re right, cody is much more upfront with what he wants. But good communication isn’t just about talking, but about Listening. Perhaps thats a copout answer, but I said what I said. Cody needs to listen and respect and people! He needs to learn boundaries. One particular thing about Cody is that he’ll interpret things the way he wants to interpret them & make assumptions. One way he does this (spoiler) is that in the 1st chapter he asks if Noah has ever kissed anyone. Noah doesn’t respond, and Cody assumes this means Noah hasn’t. Because to Cody, a first kiss is something you’d be happy to brag about. However, (Spoiler, I guess) Noah has kissed people in the past. Cody just ... projects a lot. He assumes Noah wants this, or values that, or would do This, and it’s holding him back from understanding who Noah dreally is, and also just gets him into a lot of arguments lol. This is just something Cody has to improve on over the course of the fic. And yes, Noah is hiding plenty. Some things about his family that just hasn’t come up yet / is just too depressing to talk about. And some other stuff.
Hi hope your well! I was just wondering — your fics have a lot of dialogue and as a writer myself that’s something I struggle on… how do you know what to make them talk about/introduce certain conversations? does it just come to you?
I am well! A lot of things have happened (not in a bad way), and I am single no longer. (Yippee!) (And our relationship is nothing like the one in NCi7 lmao... not that it hasn’t had it’s share of miscommunication tensions.) Anway... as for dialogue that’s a tricky question. One part of NCi7 having so much dialogue is that Noah and Cody are quite talkative characters themselves, and that helps. Especially Cody. Especially Cody when he likes someone. He wants to ask questions, he wants to flirt, he wants to show off. Everything. Chatty lil’ man. Noah is a bit more reserved, but he will never miss a chance to snark. It’s why they have such good banter. Additionally, NCi7 is a fic based on “communication.” The whole point is for them to become better communicators, so the story just HAS to have a lot of dialogue. So I can show their bad communication and how it slowly becomes good communication. But how do I know what to make them talk about? Well... that’s an odd question to me, because what they talk about is just the story. So for me, coming up for things for my characters to talk about equals coming up with the chapter outline. In NCi7′s case, I wanted the characters to change how they thought about physical affection, sex, sexuality, guilt, relationship roles, gender, career, family, etc. Just the whole shebang. So ... I had a lot of things for them to talk about. That’s probably my best tip. If you want your characters to talk more, give them something to talk about! If you don’t have much plot (which is fine), then maybe think about ... Dialogue as a characterization tool. What kind of words are the characters using? What kind of tone? What do they think is appropriate conversation? What questions do they ask? The more in-character you make it, the more fun it is. And dialogue is so, so useful with backstories. It’s one thing for a character to ruminate on what happened in their life. It’s another to see them say it out loud. And what kind of snap-judgements will the other person make? I wish I could give more specific advice, but I don’t know what story you’re writing (feel free to DM or discord me about it, I’d love to hear) but without specific details, I don’t have specific advice. Lastly, how do I introduce conversations? Honestly, I don’t remember. I do remember sometimes writing a chapter, not knowing how to transition to a topic, and putting in [INSERT TRANSITION HERE] so I could fill it in later. I would say try to use the environment to your advantage. If you need your characters to argue over PDA, bring in a public place. If you want a character to relfect on their parenting, have them see/do something that reminds them of it. Have a character notice something’s off with the other and ask. Give them a reason to speak. Anyway, thanks for asking this question! If you want to send me your work so I could read it, I’d love to. It doesn’t even have to be an advice thing, I love seeing how other writers write, and there’s a huge chance I could learn something from your writing as well. But it can be a suggestions/advice thing if you want it to be.
hi! was just re-reading your fic but then i noticed something and it's itching away at my brain because i don't know if it means anything or not. basically about 2/3 into chapter 16 noah says that cody "doesn't know the real him" and that cody "doesn't know what he did". is he referring to anything in particular that happened? anything bad that he did or any characterics of his he's trying to hide? or am i reading to much into this line and there's no purpose behind it after all. would love to know!!
There is purpose behind that line! Very good on you for catching that! For what that purpose is uhhh... the fic's kinda dead rn so I doubt the story will get to that point where that line's meaning is revealed, but if you want spoilers uhh DM me or smth?

Hello, Love your fanfic Noco in Seven Minutes. This is not much of a an ask as more a recommendation. I think you might like ship Randy x Howard from the cartoon show "Randy Cunningham 9th Grade Ninja". By the way you're writing out the characters and describing their feelings in your fic etc, I get the vibe that you might enjoy the dynamic of Randy and Howard from this show. (btw this show is filled with gay jokes so yea).

Hello! Thanks for the compliment. I have not watched this show before, but I did ask some people about it. According to them, Howard is kinda mean (aka Noah), whereas Randy is very much a teenage boy (Cody.) So in that sense, maybe the dynamic truly is similar. Would I ship it? I don't know. It's possible. I don't really plan on watching the show, unfortunately, I'm not much of a show watcher. Other then *You*, which, along with *Too Hot to Handle* are the only shows I've ever kept up with in my life. Thank you for sending this ask in anyway, though. I got to learn a little about a non-TD cartoon, which is cool. Hopefully you can find somebody to talk to about RandyXHoward.

We most probably will see Gwen again. Will we see the two makeup... I don't know. This fic isn't about them, and also my fic is kinda canon compliant, sort of? At least I'm not changing anything that happened in the show. This is not a rewrite fic! But it's not impossible we don't see them makeup, though it'd be far into the future. And also not sure it'd happen on screen, so to speak. I think if they makeup after All Stars, it should be a private, honest affair. And then Cody hears about it later.
i just pulled an allnighter reading your fic and it was totally worth it but also oh my god ow my eyelids. i actually began crying at some points bc you write cody and his struggles and everything so well
thank you!! i actually saw this ask a while ago and showed it to my friends! i hope you get some good sleep anon! And thank you for the compliments on Cody! He's... he's going through things in his own way. That's smth I strove for in this fic, I wanted Cody's POV to not just be about Noah. Of course it's a large part of it, because this is a romance fic and Cody is the type to get obsessive. But he's also his own person. And he needs to be interesting on his own.

Someone replied with 12. (What are your go-to writing songs?) The answer is none. I need the world quiet when I write, otherwise I get distracted. Especially music-wise. I have a tendency to walk around whenever I listen to music, and that’s the last thing I need when I’m trying to concentrate.
Emma (the rr girl) is going to be important for the history?
