misha didn't know what labels were until he was 12 so before that he struggled with how to describe his transness. talya is a city girl so she's a bit more educated than misha, but they're both a bit more educated than, say, penny and ocean. even noel, constance and ricky had to surf the net to find terms.
father markus made the choir room a safe space for constance and the guys (penny wasn't in choir yet, ocean hadn't realised yet). no one knew why until after father markus died and noel found some letters to one of the other male teachers while cleaning out his drawer. turns out father markus was gay the whole while.
