A Reunion → Aria & Noel

    Since Aria had run into Ezra, she’d been cautious of where she was going. This town used to be her home and now after months being away and travelling the world it was all the same but so different. She just wanted her life back but then Alison was back and crushed everything again, but when they would help her to come back it would be over again, right? They would get Ezra into jail and they would never be bothered again. The text from ‘-A’ was still wearing thin on her nerves. I sure missed you. Ugh, it was sick, felt psycho even and even though Aria didn’t really want to risk running into someone she didn’t want to see, she made her way out for a coffee.

   The Brew was the popular spot, the location where people got together. Students were doing their homework, teachers graded, other just agreed to meet up in one of the comfortable corners. It was nice and Aria looked forward to just go out and get her head a bit clear, even though she was still frightened by every step she took in this little town. Every corner was filled with haunting ghosts of the past. People who died in this madness.

   Once she walked into the Brew her eyes were looking down into her purse, trying to find her wallet, when she almost bumped into someone. Her hazel eyes looked up and she found no one other than Noel Kahn standing in front of her. They hadn’t talked in quite some time and Aria was still mad about the way he’d played her at the cabin party. She wanted to just ignore it and walk past him, but he actually talked with her and Aria found herself confused. “Hey…” she begun, seeing his typical winner smile. “Do I have to say the truth?” she asked, but couldn’t help but chuckle a bit at what she said, trying to refer to the stupid game they played back then.

Noel let out a chuckle at her response. He'd remembered that night very clearly. He had forced Jenna into playing Truth with him, Aria and Spencer, regardless of her fear. He'd had no real intention of wanting answers back then, regardless of the questions he'd had about Alison staying with him, he had to keep as much attention off of himself as possible. Rejecting the game, however, meant he wouldn't be able to stay in the Game Room. Regardless of it being partially his property, his brother was a dick and insisted they play by the rules like everyone else.

He'd remembered interrogating her about Mr. Fitz, making it extremely clear to everyone who'd been huddled around them of what she'd done, but the truth was, those were completely Jenna's ideas. And if he had to be honest with himself, he'd moreso just been bitter that Aria had dumped him for her teacher. It had kicked his ego down quite a bit, but he refused to show it.

"No," Noel responded, shaking his head. "I can only hope you'll do it anyways outside of the Game Room. But, you know Rosewood..." He shrugged. He wasn't exactly sure what to say at this point. He could tell her was sorry about that night, but it wouldn't matter. He could apologize for what Fitz had done to her, but she wouldn't care for his opinion. "Can I, uh, pay for that for you?" He pulled out his wallet again, hoping for a yes. "You just have to sit and drink it with me. That's my only condition."

Noel shrugged the strap of his backpack over his shoulder, digging into it and searching for his wallet as he stepped into The Brew, one of Rosewood's most popular and better known coffee shops. It hadn't exactly been Starbucks, but it still did the trick. Over the year's, it had slowly become the hang out for Rosewood students and a few of the teachers. It was nearly impossible to walk into the shop without running into someone you knew every time.

"Can I get a Mocha, please." He asked, handing over a five dollar bill to the cashier. He'd been slightly relieved that it hadn't been Emily who was working today. After their encounter the other day, he'd make it a mission to avoid her, and any of the other three that Ali might've spilled her hide out too. Surely, they'd come to him with more questions and he wasn't prepared to answer them.

Noel grabbed his coffee, smiling at the cashier. "Thanks," he turned away with his head down, scrolling through his Instagram. As his head shot back up, he'd found himself directly in front of Aria Montgomery, who he'd been avoiding much before Emily. The last time they'd spoken was at his cabin party, when Alison had told him she was leaving to another town for a while, which he'd later found out to be Ravenswood. He could've turned away, but strangely, he hadn't wanted to. "Uh, hey," Noel grinned, trying to be as friendly as possible. "How's it going?"

Emily looked up at Noel, before stepping inside of the cabin. She kept her coat on - it was to show to Noel that she hadn’t come for a friendly chat or a catchup. Although they’d never really spoken one on one before, they certainly didn’t exactly get on. He’d been housing her deceased ex-girlfriend for at least a month before she died. The thought had never left her mind that he could have had something to do with the death, even after seeing the CCTV footage of him and Jenna entering the cabin moments before she was snatched. 

Being on guard to any danger, Emily made her way into the living room of the cabin. This time, there were no bras or empty cups in the room. It looked a lot cleaner. She guessed there hadn’t been a lot of parties there recently, for obvious reasons. She scanned the room quickly, taking in the layout of the room and the objects inside. It just seemed like there were Noel’s belongings there. Alison probably had her own room - most likely the one Maya had stayed in. She crossed her arms, her eyes meeting with Noel’s. “I’ve got nothing to lie about.” She stated. Alison was bound to have told Noel at least a little bit of information about the whole -A situation. However, she wasn’t putting it past her to have lied about a few things. Of course she had lied about some things. Two can only keep a secret, if one of them is dead. Those words ran through her head everyday, ever since her friend had said them to her, after saving her the day of Hanna’s dad’s wedding. “How long have you been helping Alison?” Emily cut straight to the first question, her eyes fixed on Noel’s. She would easily be able to tell if he was lying.

Noel sat on the couch, leaning forward so he elbows rested against his legs. His posture stayed sharp, regardless. He'd known that Emily would try to get a lot of him, and he needed to recognize what to say and what he wouldn't. He could see the fierceness in her face, she definitely hadn't come for a cup of tea and friendly discussion. This was a full-on interrogation and he'd made the decision a short while ago that he wouldn't lie to her, he'd only tell her a small fraction of the story.

As Noel thought of what question to ask, he figured this was his perfect opportunity to discover what Ali had lied about and what she hadn't. Maybe she'd only lied to the girls, that would make sense, they — Especially Emily — had proven they couldn't be trusted, having told Spencer about the first time they were getting together. 

How long have you been helping Alison? She'd asked. Simple question. This one, he'd known he could answer. "Ali came to me that night. She was dressed in a red coat and brown wig, said something about Mona finding her and bringing her to The Lost Woods Resort just outside of Rosewood after she'd been pulled out of the ground." He'd realized he'd said more than he'd planned, and kept his focus in harder. "Who is Ali really running from? Don't lie to me, Em."

Emily raised an eyebrow, her arms still crossed over her chest. “Stop it.” Hearing Noel trying to think up fake excuses as to why Emily was there was, not only angering her, but frustrating too. She wanted answers and she wanted them now. She’d spent the whole of last night laying awake in bed, so many theories running on a loop in her brain. If Alison’s been staying at Noel’s cabin since she disappeared, then did Maya know about her too? Is that what Maya wanted to tell me? If Noel’s been helping Ali, why has been such an asshole to her friends in the past? There were those thoughts, and so many more.

She wasn’t sure if Alison was inside the cabin right now, but she couldn’t just leave the cabin without at least one explanation. She also didn’t want to lie about her reasoning for being there at this time.

"Can I just come in?" She said, quietly. Emily subtly peered around her - behind her and either side. She was looking for rattling bushes or any signs that pointed to someone following her. It was still raining, so it was hard to see, but things looked safe… as safe as they could be. The tall, swimmer then looked back at Noel, leaning forward a little to lower the chances of an eavesdropper hearing her words. She spoke, in almost a whisper. “I know. She told me.” She didn’t use names, or specifics, but even Noel, the huge jock, was smart enough to work out what she meant. She pulled away, her eyes gazing behind the boy in front of her now. She was seeing if there was anyone inside with him - it seemed as though the ghost was clear.

As Noel prepared to object, he'd suddenly felt choked. The words 'she told me' rang through his ears like an unstoppable alarm. He'd been close to his breaking point. Just two days ago, Ali had lied to his face about who A was and what she'd been doing that day. Then A targeted him, sending him a message themselves confirming everything he'd believed. Now here Emily was, interrogating him at his cabin. Everything had happened so quickly, he'd decided to let his guard down.

Stepping to the side, Noel allowed her to enter. He'd only say as much as he could and he wouldn't be nice about it. Before he closed the door, he'd repeated what Emily had done, looking around the yard. The wind had been blowing so hard, he'd barely known the difference between the sound of someone running through the bushes or the wind rustling through them. Thunder pounded in the sky, followed by a small strike of lightning. He shut the door, locking it. 

Quickly walking through the cabin, he shut all of the blinds to the windows, turning on only one lamp in the living room. "I'll answer your questions. I wouldn't mind a few answers myself." He stated. Noel shifted his weight, crossing his arms. "If I feel like you're lying, you're out. I wouldn't test that." He gave Emily the classic Noel smile, teasing that he'd suddenly had a change of heart. The smile that he only showed when he wanted something. The one that told he was up to no good.

Her lips parted at Noel’s reaction, but she wasn’t surprised that he didn’t believe her. After all, she was a notorious liar and after she disappeared, people began to realize how much she truly lied about. It was because of that that before she took the risk of returning to Rosewood, she needed people on her side, she needed people to trust her, especially Noel. Now, he was the only one who knew everything and Alison was depending on him to trust her, something she never thought possible.

"I know it sounds crazy, trust me, I know better than anyone." Alison said shaking her head. "And I know I’ve lied about a lot, but Noel, I swear on my life that this is the truth." she said genuinely. And for once, her genuineness was completely honest. Alison DiLaurentis didn’t do honest, but when it came to surviving and saving her life, she’d do just about anything.

Reaching into her pocket, Alison pulled out her wallet, taking out a crumpled picture and handing it to Noel. “Shana gave this to me before she left.” she said, looking down at the picture in Noel’s hands. “It was from when we were younger in Georgia.” she said pressing her lips together. And in the picture, Shana and Alison were all smiles while Courtney stood behind them with an envious, satire expression. Letting out a sigh, Alison took the picture back from Noel, putting it back in her wallet. “I’m sorry I’ve lied to you so much over the years…I just didn’t know who to trust.” she said, looking up at him. “But I trust you now and I need you to trust me, too.” she said, putting a hand on his arm. “Please?” she said, her big blue eyes begging him to as a sweet smile graced her lips.

Noel sighed, putting his face into his hands for a moment. She was clearly talking to him still, but he'd been so lost in his own thoughts he'd hardly listened. Alison had lied before, he knew perfectly well of that, and he was sure he was no different from her group of girls. She'd probably played him this entire time for whatever reason. He looked up at her, watching her lips move, but all he heard was silence. He'd been so frustrated with this entire situation that he'd barely wanted to hear anything of A or their schemes.

He reached his hand out when he'd noticed she handed him a picture, just quickly grazing over it. In the picture was a blond, clearly Alison, and Shana. His thumb had been pressed over another piece of the picture that seemed like someone else, but he hadn't cared enough to look. By this point, he'd barely cared to listen onward.

"Okay," Noel shrugged, handing the picture back. "I'll take your word for everything. I can't take the lies anymore, Alison. Lies have a way with catching up to you. From now on, complete honesty. That's all I'm asking for." He stood up, walking toward the fridge to grab a beer of his own. "Don't meet up with A—" He stopped himself, keeping himself turned away from her, he rolled his eyes. "—Uh, with Courtney—unless I'm there next time. It could be dangerous."

Emily was still in shock. She’d never, in a million years, have suspected that Noel Kahn had been helping Alison. She also couldn’t believe that Ali had been staying in his cabin all this time, just a little bit away from Rosewood town. She wanted more answers - she needed them. And, since she now knew where her friend was staying, she knew exactly where to get them. 

Pulling up into the driveway of the cabin, she turned off the engine of her car and composed herself. She wasn’t sure who she would encounter inside the cabin. There could be the simplest of outcomes - Alison inside by herself, or there could be a more complicated one, like Noel being in there. Either way, she would confront the situation and demand answers. One of her best friends had been missing for so long. She had found out that she was alive before graduation, but Emily had believed that she’d gone missing again in the recent summer. She never thought Alison would be back in Rosewood, plotting her open return. 

She caught her breathe, and opened the door of her car, stepping out. The rain was pouring down on this particular evening, which wasn’t doing much for keeping Emily calm. Of course, the thought that -A had overheard her and Alison’s conversation about where she was staying had crossed her mind. What if -A’s inside? She thought to herself. But, no, she had to keep calm and do this.  Before she could even knock on the door, Emily noticed the door knob moving. Her heart began racing even more than it had been doing before noticing the handle. It came to a sudden stop, however, as Noel Kahn stood in front of her. Her eyebrows caved in, before composing herself for the second time, and crossing her arms. “Are you seriously asking that question, Noel?” Why else would she be at Noel’s cabin, other than to grill Alison, or himself, on what had been going on behind her and her friend’s backs.

Her response had left him speechless. He hadn't known what to say. Oh, yeah, you're here about that lying bitch of a best friend, right. He imagined saying, probably getting smacked right after. She couldn't have been here because of Ali. They'd sworn each other to complete secrecy — not even the neighbours dog was to see her here. There was to be no path's leading her here.

"I... I don't know, Em." He shook his head, staying as composed as possible. He wasn't exactly a professional liar but his responses now surprised even him. "Did you forget something here at the last party? I'll tell ya, Eric take's anything. Especially women's clothing — he gives them to his girlfriends. You're probably better off buying a new one."

He was sure she'd catch on. She was here for a reason and it was clearly not anything she'd lost. In this moment, he'd considered telling her as much as he could — about Ali living in his cabin since she'd been missing. How he'd taken care of her the entire time, sending her money and keeping tabs on everything in Rosewood. He'd even snuck off to Ravenswood once to see her.

Then there were the bigger answers: I know about A, he'd say. I know what they've been doing to you and your friends. And I know who A is. But, he still wasn't sure. Ali had finally confessed to him, telling him everything about Courtney and her team of As. He'd almost believed her until he'd gotten a message from A himself. 

Never believe everything you hear. It said. Boys play with toys but girls play with boys. —A. The word's rang through his hear's as if he could hear Ali's voice saying them. If their hiding spot wasn't compromised before, it definitely was now that Emily was here. "I'm pretty busy, mind coming about another time?" He lied, trying desperately to get her away.

Noel had been attempting to keep himself busy all day. His mind had raced, wondering what he wanted to believe and what he didn’t. He’d hoped Ali wouldn’t lie to him, especially when he’d helped her so much, but he had to be realistic. This was Alison. Manipulative. Deceiving. Secretive. She’d done it so well, maybe it had become second nature. But why would she lie? He shook his head, sick of the thoughts overtaking his mind. 

On one hand, he could just smile and nod, and let her continue lying to him, if she was. She hadn’t hurt him yet, why would he have any reason to be concerned unless she’d given him a reason to? At first, he’d believed her so easily, knowing she was hated in Rosewood. Sure, killing was extreme, but he’d known that she was attacked. It was when she began talking about A that he questioned it.

She’d told him first, and when the news had come out about Emily, Aria, Hanna and Spencer being attacked by Mona-as-A, thing’s had gotten too suspicious. Why hadn’t she come out of the shadows then? Why wasn’t it safe? He sighed. He was better off going to the police.

Noel hesitated, tempted to grab his jacket. His iPhone chimed in his pocket, causing him to jump a little. He rolled his eyes at himself. He pulled out the phone, turning on the screen. Unknown number: one new text message. It was probably Ali. He opened it and almost instantly, his heart stopped. His eyes felt frozen and fixated on his screen as he reread the message over and over.

"No," He looked around at every window in sight. Nobody was there. He shut his screen, tossing his phone to the side. "Damn it!" He shouted, smacking his hand into the wall. For years he’d been safe, free of A. Suddenly, he’d lost all hope in believe Alison.

Noel had been on edge all day, barely making any encounter with the outdoor world. Since he'd discovered the truth about Ali, he was looking behind him at every small gust of wind that hit his cabin. His heart raced at the sound of the ice crusher in his fridge, and he'd even jumped at his own shadow three times today. Although he'd liked to believe that Courtney, a supposed twin sister nobody knew about, wasn't dangerous, he'd heard plenty of horror stories about what A had done to Alison and the girls.

Just after he'd written on Mr. Fitz's car at a birthday party, he'd heard that Mona-as-A had run Hanna over with her car and, although Noel considered himself strong, he couldn't kick a car's ass. His paranoia had gotten the better of him, sitting on his couch with a baseball bat at his side. The TV was less than three quarters turned up and he'd felt more alert than ever.

A harsh sound was heard outside. Noel slowly lifted himself from the chair. Could it have been Ali? She'd never been back this early before. He pulled the curtain back slowly, peeking out the window. A vehicle he hadn't recognized had pulled up, sitting in the driveway for a moment. Noel stepped back. His heart pounding, his breathing became heavy. Shit, he thought. Keep it together Noel. You can take this girl. As he grabbed the baseball bat he'd had earlier, the shadow of a figure passed across the window and then to the door. Before A could break in, he stepped to the door, twisting the knob and opening it. 

"Emily?" His heart thumped, as he froze in place. "H-hey, how's it going? What're you doing here?" Noel had known Emily for a while, but he'd never really spoken to her before, definitely not in a way that would make her show up unannounced at his cabin. He'd figured she'd never come back here after what happened to Maya.

Images of the night’s events flashed through her mind as she tried to hold back everything. She was terrified and she felt like no matter where she was, Courtney was right behind her. She truly had no idea where she’d feel safe anymore. Even the idea of safety was foreign to her, something that she could only dream of. “We’re not going anywhere, Noel. It isn’t safe.” she said, clenching her jaw at his stubbornness. She knew he wouldn’t be acting this way if he knew the truth, which is why she’d have to tell him. If this was the girls, Alison would have easily been able to coo them into not questioning her, but Noel was different. She did always consider him to be similar to a male version of herself.

Nodding as she let out a sigh, she made her way over to the couch,sitting down with her hands in her lap. “I wasn’t always this way…keeping secrets, telling lies. But once someone you grew up with, an assumed friend for life, holds a knife to your throat, doesn’t it?” she said, looking up at him, tilting her head to the side. “A few seconds after I was born, Courtney DiLaurentis followed. You would think that twin sisters would be the best of friends, but Courtney and I were just the opposite. She hated me. She hated me so much that she tried to kill me when we were only eight years old. My parents had her sent to Radley right way. But her resentment towards me only grew. She managed to escape, become A, torture me for a few months before burying me alive.” Alison said, trying to shake off the memory of being tickled by death.

"I knew what she was capable of, so I ran and she only got crazier. She killed five people and…she killed our mother pretending to be me. She let our mother die thinking I was the one who killed her." she said, a few genuine tears escaping from her eyes. "She has a team working against me, she said, running a hand through her hair. "She wants me to watch everyone that I care about die before she finally gets to me." she said, looking up at him for a reaction. "You’re the only person I trust right now just…please let me stay here." she said, her eyes begging him

Noel watched his friend walk away, sitting on the couch. He reluctantly followed. So they had to sit for this? He sat as well, on the coffee table just across from her and listened to her as she began her story. At first, he hadn't been catching on. There was a knife... and a twin... And then it hit him. Was she saying there were two of her?

The story continued. Noel's brows furrowed, trying to take in everything she'd been telling him. An overwhelming feeling took over him. His hands gripped the edge of the coffee table he was resting on and as she concluded, he fell silent, having no words. When he wanted to speak, nothing came out. Was... was she serious?

"A..." He mumbled, still attempting to get words out. "A twin? A sis-you have a sister?" He shook his head. Was he meant to really believe this? This was crazy. "So, you have a sister. Courtney. She's a psychopath and she has a group of psychopath's coming after you? And these people are A, the one's trying to hurt you?" Repeating everything she'd had clarified everything. Maybe Alison was the crazy one. "You honestly expect me to believe that? Ali, that sounds crazy. Rosewood's a small town. Hiding a twin sister... It just isn't possible. Not here. Why can't you just be honest with me?"

She closed her eyes and pressed her lips together before taking another sip from the beer as Noel angrily entered the room. She really should have controlled her word choice, but at that moment, her emotions got the best of her. After holding it all in, it finally erupted, coming out onto the surface and now, it was out there. Noel knew and there was no way that she’d be able to take those words back. After all, once the truth is revealed, there’s no way of hiding it again.

"I had an idea after my mother was killed but tonight, my suspicions were confirmed." she said, closing her eyes, letting out a heavy sigh. "I didn’t want anyone knowing until I knew for sure. If it wasn’t definite, I would have sounded insane." she said, shaking her head before she took another sip of beer.

Her eyes widened when Noel said they were going to the police, knowing that she needed to make him pity her if she was going to stop him from doing something so rash. She’d have to compromise by telling him the story, making herself appear to be the victim. It was the act she put on for her parents the day she accused Courtney of trying to kill her. It worked on them and it was most definitely going to work on him. “Noel stop!” she shouted running to the front door to block it, allowing the tears to well up in her eyes. “That’s only going to make this worse.” she said, making her voice crack as she expertly made a few tears just fall from her eyes. “I’ll explain everything, I promise.” she said, looking up at him with her big, blue tear-filled eyes.

Noel's body flexed where he stood. He'd never felt more angry than he did right now. "Ali, get out of the way, grab your jacket and let's go." He'd caught a glimpse of the tears in her eyes and suddenly, his anger began to dim. A lump formed in his throat and his jaw clenched. He'd began to contemplate his options once more. Was going to the police truly a good idea, or would it land his friend, the girl he'd spent so long trying to protect, in more danger? She knew A better than anyone and if she told him this wouldn't help, who was he to say she was right or wrong?

Part of him had felt like this was a trap. This could've been typical Ali D, using her sweet look to fool him. He wanted to believe everything she'd told him. He wanted to know that what she trusted him with was something only they had together. He couldn't start thinking that everything, from the year's they'd know each other, could be a lie.

Noel kept himself stern. "Fine," He muttered, stepping back. "We're not going now, but you're telling me everything and if I think you're holding out on anything, so help me Alison, you'll be finding somewhere else to stay." He warned her, knowing very well he couldn't keep that promise. What he knew for sure was, if he'd felt that this was something they couldn't handle together, he'd be going to the police the next day. With or without her. "Now, tell me everything.

"Don’t tell me to calm down!" Alison defended, clenching her fists. This has become almost a routine for the two of them and Alison knew that arguing every single night was something that aggravated him to no end but in all honesty, it was the only thing that made Alison forget about everything going on. Her anger was a mere front, a wall she put up to prevent anyone from seeing her weakness-her constant fear. "And here I thought you were used to my personality by now." Alison said with an annoyed expression on her face. She let out a chuckle at his complaints, shaking her head at him. "God, you sound exactly like some middle aged man in couple’s therapy." she said with a roll of her eyes.

Alison rarely felt bad about how she treated people, but what she did feel bad about was how she treated Noel. He was the only one who knew she was alive from the start and did anything he could to keep her safe. Even if she’d run off for months on end, Noel always welcomed her back into his home which once was a social sanctuary, an oasis for the elite of Rosewood to mix and mingle. It was a shame that after all the days she spent locked up in here, the place lost that teenage charm it used to have to her.

"While I’m gone you could at least do some damn grocery shopping!" she shouted. "Well, you know what? I’m sorry that I don’t come back here all smiles everyday but I don’t think you’d be all fine and dandy if you came face to face with the person who tried to kill you, the person who killed your mother, the person who tried and is still trying to kill your friends and is constantly tormenting them, the person who took away years of your life!" It took her voice cracking at the end of her sentence to make her realize that her eyes were welling up with tears. Quickly, she took a deep breath, sucking up the tears that were threatening to escape her blue eyes and put a smile on her face. "Come to think of it, a beer and some chips sound lovely." she said before walking off into the kitchen and grabbing a beer out of the fridge, taking a generous sip from it.

Noel's expression shifted instantaneously. His heart sank and suddenly, his stomach had felt unsettled. "You.." He could barely get the words out before she'd walked away back toward the kitchen. "What the hell," he shouted, barging after her. "You said you came face to face with them, the person who's doing this to you? Ali, you know who A is?"

He wasn't even sure what to do. Here he was, doing everything he could thinking she hadn't known who this was. How she didn't know who to trust. He'd gone from feeling so angry to completely betrayed with the flip of a switch. "How could you keep this a secret from me, how the hell long have you known?"

His fists clenched at his sides. When Mona had been discovered, he'd known about that instantly, given that everyone had figured it out at the same time. Ali had disappeared longer at the point, but he'd tried so hard to make her feel safe, to make sure she'd return. Month's went by and suddenly, they'd been completely uneasy again. Suddenly, he turned away, his face more angry. "We're going to the police." Noel grabbed his jacket, slipping it on. "You know who it is? Perfect. It's time to end A once and for all."

Fear was a feeling that she never thought would arise in her due to the threats of her twin sister. That sister was supposed to be the weakest link, locked up in the crazy house. But, she was a DiLaurentis, after all, meaning she had the ability to weasel herself out of any situation. And that’s why Alison had her sent away in the first place. She knew that Courtney aspired to be like her and Alison simply didn’t want a carbon copy, a shadow constantly lurking behind her. When she watched the girl being shipped off to Radley years ago, she thought she saw the last of her. She went on to become the most loved and hated girl in Rosewood. She had a loyal group of friends, plenty of admirers and older boys who couldn’t get enough of her.

But, Courtney took that all away from her. She never got to drive around town in her first car. She never got to win prom queen. She never got to graduate high school. And it was all because she was afraid. For the first few years, she had no idea who this person was and had to watch from afar as this monster tormented and killed the people of Rosewood. Once her mother was killed, Alison drew the line and began doing her own research, shocked to discover the truth. When she first discovered A’s identity, she was unafraid, knowing she could destroy her twin in a heartbeat. But tonight, she saw just how crazy and ruthless Courtney has become and Alison wasn’t just afraid, she was terrified.

Storming into the Kahn cabin, her only safe zone, Alison took off her red coat and threw it over the coat rack, making her way into the kitchen. She was shaking, the shock of the confrontation not yet wearing off. She roughly pulled open the fridge, rolling her eyes at the lone case of beer that sat in it. And when she opened the cabinet, she wasn’t surprised to find a few, half eaten bags of chips. Noel was the last person who deserved her wrath after everything he’s done to protect her, but anger was her only defense mechanism. Alison let out a shaky breath and barged into the room he was in. “Chips and beer, Noel? Do I look like some frat boy to you?” she yelled angrily, folding her arms across her chest as she raised a brow at him.

Noel laid on the couch, stretched out with his feet kicked up on the arm rest. His beats headphones played a loud Mac Miller song, almost at it's full volume. He'd done everything he could to keep himself distracted. He'd never admit it, but helping out Alison had terrified him. He was perfectly aware of A and their abilities. The fact that Mona was once their stalker relieved him, which is what had made him agree to taking care of her to begin with, but this person was much worse. Alison had come home shaken up almost every night. Whether it was because of a new threat or just general fear. 'If you could scare Alison DiLaurentis, you've got something going for you', he'd always thought, and he was right.

Noel jumped, pulling the headphones off of his ears when he'd seen someone barge in. Noticing it was Alison, he put his hand on his chest. "Jesus, Ali," he groaned. "You scared the hell out of me." He took in what she said and suddenly he'd felt aggravated. "Calm down, I haven't gone out yet. Is that really your greeting? How about coming back here without an attitude for once. How 'bout a 'Hey Noel, how are you today, thanks again for letting me stay at your place' this time, huh?"

He grabbed his phone, shutting off the blaring music. "You leave this place every day and I'm always here when you get back," Noel rambled. This was mostly his fear talking but it was bound to have come out. "What am I going to do if you don't show up again one day? If A finally gets you? I've already had one girl go missing here, I don't need another one. You asked me to keep you safe, how am I suppose to do that without knowing who I'm up against? I've done everything I can for you and all you've done is keep secrets from me. I'm not one your little group of girls, Ali and I'm sick of being treated like one."
