Tombow!
Drawing practice. Head is too narrow but the rest I’m happy with.
Another run at the cargo ship in Astoria.
Something I've been playing with. I now have a sketchbook that is just for color testing and mixing.
How I pratice drawing things, now in a tutorial form. The shrimp photo I used is here Show me your shrimps if you do this uvu PS: lots of engrish because foreign
This is the best art advice ever and you should all listen to it because it’s basically what I’ve been telling people for years.
i was not expecting that to actually work
THIS.
This feels like one of those pieces of advice that are so brilliant that as soon as you have read it, it feels blindingly obvious.
Visited Astoria yesterday. This was my view out the window from Buoy Brewing. Great food there, great view. Gorgeous light. This paper doesn't take a wash very well, but I like how it turned out anyways. 3.5 x 5 landscape handbook sketchbook.
Good morning little bird.

On retreat I found a flicker feather,a purple maple seed, and cedars everywhere 🙂 #art #nature #watercolor #feather #mg
Seems even more relevant today, somehow.
Proof of concept for a thing I'm working on.
Little mini sketches with watercolor I’ve been playing with. I used masking fluid for the first time for most of the spots on the mushrooms. Some wet in wet, some glazing. Trying to understand dilution and intensity.
Sketch. I think this has too much detail, and I can see my proportions are off, as well as the perspective tilts. A slight tilt back would have been fine… But I love it anyways, it’s iconic and recognizable.
The building I was standing against across the street has been turned into a Scientology recruitment center, which is hilarious because there was some crazyeye with a litter-ature table acting as a greeter who was greeting everybody with cartoonish cheeriness, Tom Cruise style. I got the giggles.

I really love this sort of quick architectural sketching, but it’s difficult to get started, because I have a lot of fear around it looking stupid. I’m not sure why. I like how this turned out. It took less than 10 minutes.
Fountain pen, Sailor ink in Shigure, plain water wash.
Playing with watercolor washes, trying to learn how water moves on paper and how the color blends.
Moar birbs. Top watercolor pencil, bottom wc
