Every band feel as though they’re a unique proposition but few walk the walk quite like Kent’s Feed The Rhino. Too multi-dimensional for the hardcore scene, way too gritty and willing to burn the rule book to ever be considered a metal band and far too inventive to ever be pigeonholed by punk, Rhino have a history in standing out from the crowd over the course of their short career. It’s been a badge of honour. “We are Feed the Rhino and we don’t need your scene or the latest trend to be somebody”.  Only with ‘The Sorrow and The Sound’, they’ve created something more than just being a different flavour and standing out from the crowd. They’ve made an album that throws together the ruthless groove of Pantera, the sinister side of Deftones, the nasty streak of Gallows and their own unique aggression to make something that threatens to obliterate the banality of what you’ve come to expect from a modern rock band.

Feed the Rhino have always specialised in white hot ferocity and a sonic bombardment that feels like a series of body blows to the gut from a heavyweight bare-knuckle boxer, only this time they do so with an increased knowledge of how to harness and release their bombast into something bigger and better. ‘The Sorrow and The Sound’ sees the band (Lee Tobin - Vocals, Oz Craggs - Bass, James Colley aka Jimbo Slice on Guitars, Sam Colley on Guitars and Chris Kybert on Drums) embracing everything they’ve done to this point and claiming victory through embracing all they’ve ever wanted to try without fear of failure.

“We’ve always spread our wings wide enough,” says Craggs, who produced the album as well as playing on it. “We’ve done super heavy stuff to weird ambient stuff but this time, we just wanted to put it all together and not worry about doing anything outside of making something we’re all proud of. No agendas, no worrying about what other people will say. Even in the making of the album, we’ve taken the risk of making a big sounding album for the first time, using techniques that previously we’d avoided through either fear or not knowing whether or not it’s the right thing to do. This time was just about making the best Feed The Rhino album anybody has ever heard.”

Perhaps the most impressive thing about this Feed The Rhino outing is a willingness to embrace more melodic pastures. Don’t read that wrong, there’s no pussying out here whatsoever, there’s just grimy and grungey world-beating choruses on the likes of ‘Behind the Pride’ and ‘Set Sail For Treason’, ‘New Wave’ and ‘Revelation Not Revolution’ have the loutish bounce of old with an impenetrable new focus and melodic nous and sweeping, cinematic epic ‘Black Horse’ will force you to reevaluate what was possible from this band. 

Frontman Lee Tobin is a man that’s always been able to snarl savagely and unleash hell from his vocal chords. He’s always been a one-man wrecking ball, the focal point in one of the most primal and barbaric live shows anywhere on earth. This time out, however, he’s a singer. A leader, a presence all over the album that takes his band’s anvil heavy grooves and unrelenting vicious streak and weaves magic within that to craft some of the finest hard rock songs you will hear this year.

Britain has given birth to plenty of bands that have changed the rock landscape in recent years. Feed the Rhino are here to rip it’s throat out. ‘The Sorrow and The Sound’ is not going to be your mum’s favourite album but by god, it’s one of the most powerful hard rock albums you will hear all year.

News: GLAMOUR OF THE KILL announce 'After Hours' EP with new track, 'Out Of Control', featuring Jacoby Shaddix of Papa Roach!

Drawing from a deep well of hard-driving music with rebellious disregard for the restrictive “rules” of nitpicking subgenres, Glamour Of The Kill raise the flags high for the partying vibe of ‘80s hair metal and the soaring energy of today’s more aggressive vanguard of sound with new EP, ‘After Hours’.

The quartet’s attention to musicianship is paramount yet never puts the goodtime atmosphere at risk, Glamour Of The Kill expertly consume and utilise the gallop of Maiden, the party rock of the Sunset Strip, and the twin guitars of Thin Lizzy to create a sound uniquely and steadfastly of their very own. A mixture of energized pop and crunchy metal, the band’s priorities boil down to two things: big riffs and even bigger choruses.

The bands theatrical live shows and critically acclaimed performances at major European festivals like Download and Sonisphere, along with tours alongside the likes of Papa Roach and Escape The Fate around the world have seen the band carve out a name for themselves. Having chosen to depart from the industry team that surrounded them, offering a middle finger to conformity, and be no longer bound by the shackles of a pre-established musical direction, the ‘After Hours’ EP offers a much grittier, ball-grabbing  approach, than the clean-cut product of the band’s yesteryear.

Full frontal tracks such as ‘Out Of Control’, featuring Papa Roach frontman Jacoby Shaddix, is an in-your-face, no-holds-barred display of aggression. Standing alongside pulse racing tracks like ‘We Are All Cursed’ and ‘Earthquake’ featuring Escape The Fate’s Craig Mabbitt, all culminate in clear indication that GOTK are here to stay, and have brought some pals along for the ride.  

Speaking of Shaddix and Mabbitt’s involvement and the decision to crowd fund the five-track affair, singer Davey Richmond says, "It was a tough decision to leave everything behind and go our own way, but it was clear to us only 3 days into our Kickstarter campaign to crowd fund the new EP, that we'd made the right call.”

He continues, “after smashing through our target to fund the EP, it quickly became less of a concern, and more about us being inspired to create something special to show to the fans, as a thank you for the confidence they had showed in us. When writing and recording the new songs, the more we listened to them, we could tell there was something else we wanted to add to these already exciting new songs. Over the last year we have been fortunate enough to tour with our good friends in Escape The Fate and Papa Roach. While on tour with the guys we'd talked a lot about collaborating with them on future tunes, and with 'After Hours' being our most unique expression of everything we love about music, it only seemed right that we bring together all our ideas of the last 12 months, and make them a reality. Phone calls were made, vocals were laid down, and now it's amazing to hear all our ideas come to life."

With songwriting, guest appearances and fanbase belief of this calibre, you’d be a fool to dismiss Glamour Of The Kill and ‘After Hours’.

News: Sense Fail Sign to Pure Noise Records

SENSES FAIL has announced they have signed to Pure Noise Records. The news comes shortly after the band kicked off their nationwide Let It Enfold You 10th entering the studio in November to start recording their next full length which is scheduled to be released in summer 2015. 

“We are very excited to start a new chapter in the bands life by signing to Pure Noise. It is wonderful to be a part of something that feels very much alive. This label is filled with current bands all jumping off and all making very meaningful, important music. News: The Amsterdam Red Light District Announce New Album

News: Mariachi El Bronx Announce New Album.

Mariachi El Bronx – the alter ego of acclaimed Los Angeles punk outfit The Bronx – have announced the November 4 release of Mariachi El Bronx (III) with this video teaser. Listen to the album’s lead track “New Beat”: http://smarturl.it/meb-new-beat. 

On the third in its series of self-titled albums, the band took a fresh approach. Not content to simply excel within the confines of the mariachi genre, they ditched the rulebook and dusted off old sequencers, synths and an ARP. The 10 striking songs that resulted fuse traditional melodies with modern ambience. See below for track listing.

Mariachi El Bronx will celebrate the album’s release with an Autumn West Coast run that will kick off on November 5 with a record release show at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles. Long Beach, CA-based band Tijuana Panthers will support along with Pounded By The Surf, a new surf band founded by Joby J. Ford and Vincent Hidalgo, both of Mariachi El Bronx, and Thaddeus Robles (the Heartaches).

The band recorded most of (III) at Haunted Hallow Studios in Charlottesville, Virginia, a surreal private countryside location with absolutely no cell phone reception, but plenty of strange sculptures and miles of woods in every direction. Mariachi El Bronx – comprising Matt Caughthran, Joby J. Ford, Jorma Vik, Brad Magers, Ken Horne, Vincent Hidalgo, Ray Suen and Keith Douglas – spent two weeks there, recording with producer John Avila (Oingo Boingo), who co-produced (I) and (II) with the band. From the social commentary of tracks like “New Beat” and “Sixes And Sevens” to the reflective “Wildfires” and “High Tide,” (III) reveals a band coming into its own, extending the proverbial middle finger to tradition – and backing it up 100%. DJ Bonebrake (X) guests on marimbas on “Nothing’s Changed” and harp virtuoso Willie Acuña (Mariachi Sol de Mexico) joins the band on “Raise The Dead.” 

(III) follows 2011’s Mariachi El Bronx (II), which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Alternative New Artist chart. The bandsupported(II) with numerous high profile television and radio performances – including “Late Show with David Letterman,” “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” “Conan,” KCRW’s “Morning Becomes Eclectic,” WXPN’s “World Café” and KEXP – and extensive touring, including a North American arena run with Foo Fighters.

NPR noted, “inside the tales of lost love and other tragedies, there's plenty of tradition balanced by shots of pure joy and irreverence" and the BBC praised (II) as a “fabulous album, fabulously written, fabulously arranged and fabulously executed." In a four-star review, Alternative Press observed, “Mariachi El Bronx (II) triumphs because not only does it treat the West Mexican musical idiom with respect, it raises the bar for future directions and possibilities.”

News: Sleeping with Sirens and Pierce The Veil Announce UK Tour

After announcing the first leg of their world tour, Sleeping With Sirens & Pierce The Veil, two of the most exciting and compelling forces on the music scene today proud to announce EU & UK dates for Spring 2015 in conjunction with Rockstar Energy Drink.

"So, you have two hard working bands on your label, both have toured intensely for their previous full length albums, and now have material for a couple of new songs. Before we even managed to mention, "split record", Idle Class and Fights And Fires had already played a couple of show together, and brought up the idea themselves.

News: Finch Announce New Album

FINCH are back!  Nine years since they released their last album, the band have announced that they’ll be releasing their third studio album “Back to Oblivion” on 29th September via Spinefarm records in the UK. 

Finch will be headlining HEVY festival on Friday 15 August and prior to that they’ll playing a warm up show at The Underworld on Wednesday 13th August – a show not to be missed!  Additionally they’ll also be doing an instore at Banquet records in Kingston on Thursday 14th August.

Hailing from Temecula, California, former Drive-Thru favourites released the seminal album “What It Is To Burn” in 2002 which spawned the UK Top 40 hit “Letters To You”.  Following on from that “Say Hello To Sunshine” came out in 2005 before the band went on a hiatus in early 2006.  The band most recently toured the UK in 2013 for their 10 year anniversary tour of WIITB and played a sold out show at Brixton Academy!
