The shape of your palm is the first thing you would notice first before you delve into the finer areas. There are four major shapes of palms, according to the elements. There are more but they are based on qualities and personality. They can reveal about a person's general mindset or their initial view on things.
Earth- these hands are squarish with fingers on the shorter side. Both the lengths being almost equal. They are one of the most enduring people since we know it's a planetary quality. These hands are very firm representing their integrity and dedication. They don't lose their focus that easily. Could be a little bit stubborn or may have a tunnel vision on the negative side.
Fire- the ones with palm on the bigger side than the phalanges. These hands may have distinct creases and maybe a little but bony. The most obvious quality would be the leadership skills. They might get frustrated easily when things don't go their way. These people tend to be very confident and passionate. They have this air of charisma around them. Resisting their aura is so difficult. People definitely want to talk to them.
Air- this hand would be squared and with long fingers. It represents highly intellectual individual. The analyzing power would be top notch. A quick learner. Perfect oratory skills. These people are generally more aware about what goes on around them. Planning is their finesse. The hands maybe a little bit try. Sometimes they lack the capability to see the bigger picture. Can become hyper focused.
Water- long palms and long fingers. On the softer side of spectrum. In tune with their emotions. High emotional intelligence. Creativity runs deep. Observant rather than a talker. Imagination skills would be on fire. Comparatively more psychic than the rest three. Delicate and fragile mindset. Really like to explore deep into things. Great research abilities. Sometimes, they can get too sensitive/emotional for their own well being.
These are the raised fleshy portions at specific locations on the palm, spread throughout. There are 8 major mounts in palmistry which are ruled by the planetary energies. They are mainly Jupiter, Saturn, Apollo, Mercury, Mars (2 for it), Moon and Venus. Since we consider Rahu Ketu as major part in our astrology system, they are also given their mounts. However, they show combined effect, they don't have a role of their own.
Jupiter (गुरू) - this mount is present below the index (तर्जनी) finger. It represents pride, honour, reputation, leadership, religion, politics, blessings, will power and self confidence. When it is well developed (more pronounced), a person is ambitious, works within rules and gives great advices.
Saturn (शनि) - it is present right below the middle (मध्यमा) finger. It represents fate, destiny, solitude, valor, determination, karma, responsibilities, research, occult, mysticism and esoteric knowledge. When developed, it indicates that the person is wise and has high endurance. Could be inclined towards mysticism.
Apollo (सूर्य) - this mount is present underneath the ring (अनामिका) finger. It represents fame, influence, position, artistic abilities, creativity, wealth and prosperity. How far you will go basically. When it is developed, it makes you shine and helps you rise in your pursuit. You recognise these people just by their aura.
Mercury (बुध) - this one is located right below the little (कनिष्ठा) finger. This represents affluence and spontaneity. Your intellect, intelligence, comprehension, business, calculation, economics and medicine. When developed, it makes you clever and quick-witted. Aptitude for business.
Moon (चंद्र) - the mount of moon is present towards the lower edge of the palm. Opposite to the thumb. Representative of creativity, imagination, intuition, emotion and the mind. When pronounced makes one very empathetic. They cannot see someone in pain. May become good writers/artists.
Venus (शुक्र) - the mount of Venus is present at the lower portion of the palm below the thumb (अंगुष्ठ). It represents warmth, energy especially social, desires of all kind, worldly, as well as sexual. When we'll developed, it makes a person a beautiful/handsome and attractive to others. Sympathetic and benevolent.
Mars (मंगल) - this mount has two parts. The outer Mars is present above the mount of Moon and the inner Mars is present above the mount of Venus. Mars represents vigour, action, temper, boldness, courage and adventure. When the mounts are pronounced, a person would be fearless and a go-getter. Also indicates hasty decisions.
Dragon's head (राहु) - it is present right at the centre of your palm. Generally lower than all other mounts. Sometimes, it's called the plain of Mars. It does not have an effect of its own. If works in a combined state with other mounts.
Dragon's tail (केतु) - basically present at the lower portion of the palm in the centre adjacent to both mount of Venus and Moon. The effect is same as mentioned above for Rahu.
Uranus- also known as the mount of Harshal. It is present below the mount of Mercury near the edge of the palm. If it somehow falls between heart and head line, it makes for a genius. A great mathematician or a scientist. If not well developed, may indicate interest in machines.
Neptune- this mount is present above the mount of Moon. The area is rather small. If the mount is developed, a person can be a great musician or a poet. Something to so with writing/composing.
Pluto- this mount is called Indra in hindi. It is present below the mount of Saturn between the heart and the head line. The influence of this mount isn't much but is seen only during old age.
Life line (जीवन/पितृ रेखा) - this line originates from above the thumb and goes all the way down to the base of the palm. Encloses the mount of Venus. It represents the overall health and vitality in one's life. It has no relationship with longevity of one's life. Generally is related to the course of life.
Head line (शीर्ष/मातृ रेखा) - it begins from the same point where life line originates or slightly above it. Extends either straight or bends towards the mount of Moon. It is a representative of the mental prowess. Various aspects determine how strong you are mentally. The intellect can also be defined by it.
Heart line (हृदय/स्वान्त रेखा) - this line starts from the mount of Mercury and goes up until the mount of Saturn horizontally. Can join either the middle or ring finger. Can be straight or curved which makes for different approach towards love and people.
Fate line (भाग्य/शनि रेखा) - originates from the base of the palm and goes all the way up to the mount of Saturn. It indicates the fortune, career, luck, possession and money. Now this line has numerous variations. Can be short or long, it doesn't matter, the effects are same.
Sun line (रवि/पुण्य रेखा) - generally starts from the mount of Moon and goes upto mount of Apollo. Or can begin from mount of Apollo and extend upto varied lengths but not reaching mount of Moon. It has the same effect as the mount. But having a straight line indicates fame. It could be massive or in your career, around your people etc.
Mercury line- also known as the health line/line of hepatica/liver. This line begins from the base of palm and goes upto the mount of Mercury. It doesn't cross the life line. As the name suggests, it describes the overall health of a person. Basically represents your gut/alimentary canal.
Mars line- also referred to as the second life line. It begins from the area same as/below the life line's origin. This is a line of protection. You would feel at some point of your life that a higher power is moving alongside you. You are never alone. Heavy protection. If you see it, you know no harm comes to these people.
Rascette lines (मणिबन्ध) - there are three lines on your wrist which comprise this set. In the order from below to above. 1st one represents money, 2nd represents knowledge/wisdom and 3rd line represents faith. If more than three lines are present, then it is considered inauspicious.
Relationship lines- these are the few horizontal line present on the mount of Mercury. It represents the relationship you have with different people in your life time. These lines also indicate marriage.
Travel lines- another group of horizontal lines are present on the mount of Moon. They originate from the edge of the palm at the base. The whole had has to be analysed for them, before making a prediction.
These lines would be discussed in further detail in another post as there a lot of variations and symbols that need to be discussed upon. Also how combinations affect one's life. This is just to brief you about the lines and what they represent.
Jupiter- present below the index finger. Also known as the Ring of Solomon. When a person has this on their palm, it represents an inclination towards the occult. They have a strong sixth sense. Very driven people since it is present on the mount of Jupiter. Keen towards the subjects such as tantra-mantra, astrology and palmistry. They have this power which helps them understand things real quick. Almost magical.
Saturn- present on the mount of Saturn itself indicates constraint and restriction. This isn't a positive indication if present. Also points to frustration and delayed success. These is no continuity, the pace gets hindered by so many difficulties.
Apollo- as it is present on the mount of creativity, it generally represents a block in the flow. Things don't come that easy. Lack of appreciation for the beauty around you. The good news is that this ring is rarely found on palms.
Mercury- another rare line present below the little finger. Such people exhibit strong sexual behaviour. It can go both ways. Also this line too isn't much of a positive one. Has similar negative effects as mentioned in the above paragraphs.
Venus- It is located in between two fingers, i.e. the middle and the ring finger. Also referred to as Girdle of Venus. Covers the mount of Saturn and Apollo. If a person has this, it would point towards high strung nervousness and a quick temper. Along with this, it would indicate high psychic and emotional abilities.
Fingers are called phalanges. They are divided into three portions by the creases except thumb which has two. The area between two creases is called phalanx. The first phalanx is the distal phalanx and represents the mind. Second/middle represents reasoning and logical abilities. And the last/proximal indicates the physical world/physical energy.
This was yet another brief about the basics of palmistry. The further posts would discuss the lines, symbols and the other things in detail along with some special signs present on the palm. So, I hope you enjoyed this post and it helped you in some way✨
