This brief video gives the intinerary of the Mediterranean Odyssey Ocean cruise that I took this past November with #Viking and an old friend from my Six Flags days. Our trip was in reverse order and began in Venice rather than Barcelona where we ended the cruise. Each day had gorgeous sunshine and we were very lucky with the weather.
If you are considering an ocean cruise I would strongly urge you to choose this cruise. Excellent ports of call and the staff was unbelievable. Of course as a #foodie I was delighted with our various meals on board. Thank you very much to all the Viking staff that made our entire cruise so enjoyable. #Viking #Viking Ocean Cruises #MyVikingStory
One of the interesting aspects of our recent cruise with @vikingcruises was the history behind the city of Split. Emperor Diocletian brought 12 Sphinx sculptures to the city after putting down the Egyptian rebellion in 297 A.D.
As the emperor was very against the Christian religions, the people overthrew the Palace after Diocletian died and destroyed most of the Sphinxes or decapitated them. The only remaining Sphinx sits on the Peristyle in front of the Cathedral of Saint Dominus.
Bob Marley passed exactly 44 years ago today. He would have been 80 year's old if he had lived. A musical genius that I have been fond of for decades. His messag e in this song, although intended for the struggles in Jamaica is definitely applicable in today's world. #NoMoreTrouble.💖✌️🎵
After retiring and settling down in Puerto Vallarta I thought my traveling days were over. Then I reconnected with an old friend who encoura
After several bouts with seasonal allergies from issues in my apartment I finally completed the first blog on our Mediterranean Odyssey Ocean cruise with @vikingcruise. #Viking Cruises #Viking Ocean Cruises #MyVikingStory

What an awesome performance of this classic hymn. It is by far my favorite, especially when Aretha Franklin sang it. Written in 1772 by English clergyman and poet John Newton and published in 1779. I would speculate it's the most sung and recorded hymn in the world.
Newton wrote the hymn after a very frightening experience on a slave ship as a member of the Royal Navy. It made him leave the trade and seek religion. He was ordained in the Church of England in 1764.
The hymn was written to signify that forgiveness and redemption are possible regardless of sins committed. 🙏💖🙏
When we left a wonderful show in the Star Theater with #Viking, these two gentlemen were waiting to greet people. The man on the right is the Captain and the gentleman on the left is over all activities. #VikingOceanCruises #MyVikingStory #VikingCruises #CruiseLife
They say you can't teach an old dog new tricks. I have not been able to consume any alcohol since my heart event in 2003. I was discussing this on our tour in Split today and another individual suggested I try non-alcoholic wine. To be honest I never heard of this. Tonight onboard the Viking Star, I asked the bartender if they stocked non-alcoholic wine. He asked if I wanted red or white. I was floored! He told me in addition to his bar it was served at meals in the restaurants. Given we are just starting our cruise I will guarantee I take advantage his new found beverage! 🍷🍷🍷
Even though the temperature is great for our departure at DFW for PHL, FCO and VCE the 21mph winds make me uncomfortable. I have flown into DFW many times over the past decades and fought high winds upon landing and taking off. I am amazed at times that the AA pilots navigate the cross winds at this airport on the prairie so well.
One time our plane was tilted to the left at approximately 25° to 30°. I thought we were going to flip over. My least favorite landing was when the shears took the nose down and the pilot rescued us very rapidly. I pray they are not challenged on take off today! Do you have a story of an airport experience that wasn't the best on landing or takeoff? ✈️🙏✈️
Torstein Hagen of @vikingcruise talks about the one thing you don't have enough of, so use it wisely and explore this wonderful world! We leave DFW tomorrow at 12:30pm for Venice and the beginning of a new adventure in travel. #vikingcruises #vikingoceancruises #myvikingstory 🛳🛳🛳
He was born Michael James Gubitosi on Sept. 18, 1933, in Nutley, New Jersey to an Italian-American woman and her Italian immigrant husband.
Sad to hear that this man has passed, although with all the events in his life, 89 years is a long and full life. I know many will only think about the murder of his second wife and it was obviously a weird event, I agree, but his acting skills were phenomenal. I will never forget his great Detective TV series Baretta. Production was from January 17, 1975 through May 18, 1978 with 82 episodes. RIP Robert Blake.
Baretta was an unorthodox plainclothes police detective (Badge #609) with the 53rd Precinct in an unnamed, fictional city. He resided in Apartment 2C of the run-down King Edward Hotel with Fred, his Triton cockatoo. A master of disguise, Baretta wore many while performing his duties. When not working he usually wore a short-sleeve sweatshirt, casual slacks, a brown suede jacket and a newsboy cap.
Baretta was often seen with an unlit cigarette in his lips or behind his ear. His catchphrases include "Don't do the crime if you can't do the time", "You can take dat to da bank" and "And dat's the name of dat tune." When exasperated, he occasionally spoke in asides to his late father, Louie Baretta. He drove a rusted-out Mist Blue 1966 Chevrolet Impala four-door sport sedan nicknamed "The Blue Ghost" (license plate 532 BEM). He frequented Ross's Billiard Academy and referred to his numerous girlfriends as his "cousins". 🙏
Streetwalking in Puerto Vallarta and I find unusual plants. This seed pod caught my eye, but I have no idea what the plant is! 🌴🌊🌅🌴 (at Rio Cuale Pto. Vallarta) https://www.instagram.com/p/CpQGGOmOCIk/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
While walking by one of my favorite restaurants No Se Nada, I saw this tree blooming in front of the place. Since it was my Mother's favorite blooms, next to gardenias, I had to take a photo. BTW I love the smell of both of these amazing plants also! 🤍💖😎👃 (at No Sé Nada) https://www.instagram.com/p/CncjtbxOEer/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
Yesterday I walked to my laundry, PVRPV in Zona Romantica and back. I love this exercise especially when it's cooler weather like we currently have. As I was walking back to my apartment I noticed a gentleman about my age taking photos of a tree at the entrance to the stairs down to the Mercados on the Rio Cuale south side. It took me a couple of seconds to discover what he was photographing. I stopped immediately and took out my Samsung Note 9 and hoped the expansion would not result in a blurred image. Luckily it was a good photo. My new friend discussed the fact that Iguanas are becoming less populated and we wondered if they were being dined on. They are known as the "chicken of the trees," by iguana eaters, because they are said to taste like chicken. Iguana meat has historically been important in the culinary traditions of Mexico and Central America; particularly in the states of Jalisco, Michoacan and Colima. Iguana meat is legal in the United States of America and several other countries, however importation is restricted due to CITES conventions. (at Rio Cuale Pto. Living in Puerto Vallarta means a constant celebration of festival. My apartment is thankfully located right at 1.5 blocks from the section of the Malecon in which many festivals have great figures made by local artists. This Christmas Tree was up before December 1st and taken down a few days ago. The Los Arcos amphitheater is at the southern end of the Malecon. 🌴🌊🌅🌴 (at Malecón, Puerto Vallarta) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cm-ATIVO4U9/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
My Christmas Eve dinner was at the No Se Nada Bar and Restaurante. I chose the filet cooked medium and it came with veggies on top of mashed potatoes. It was truly magnificent and perfectly cooked! 🌴🌊🌅🌴 (at No Sé Nada) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cm9-RGpuIA5/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
