No big surprise here, LeBron James of the Miami Heat is the NBA's best player. The two-time champion is on a quest for a 3-peat after taking his talents to South Beach in the summer of 2010. So what makes James so good? He is the leagues best overall player able to do virtually anything on the court. He is a team player, scorer, and all-star defender wrapped into a 6'8 260 lbs frame. James has already won four MVP awards and is on pace to blow away many NBA records. James will be the best player in the NBA for the foreseeable future, it all really depends on another team dethroning the Miami Heat. One thing for sure is it will be tough to beat King James and company four times in any series.

Kevin Durant is the NBA's second best player and he would be first if LeBron James didn't exist. Durant is a two-time scoring champion and is the leagues best and most efficient scorer. At 6'10 Durant has guard-like handle with the ball and a feathery touch from up to 30 feet. Durant is also super athletic and virtually unguardable when you combine his ball skills. With Westbrook back, it wouldn't surprise me to see the Thunder reach the NBA finals once again. Durant became the newest member of the 50-40-90 club, a club that features players who shoot 50% from the floor, 40% from three, and 90% from the free throw line.

Chris Paul is still the NBA's best point guard. Paul has elite level iQ and at 6 ft 0 inches always makes the right play. The Clippers now have Doc Rivers at the helm of their coaching staff and ultimately it will be on Paul and Rivers to make them a championship team. Paul may arguably be the best point guard of all time but it wont be a debate till he can win an NBA championship. Chris Paul and John Stockton are the only two players in NBA history who have been able to average 15 point 9 assists and two steals for six different seasons.

Hard to believe the Thunder once possessed Harden, Westbrook, and Durant. Harden is now part of the Rockets and with their acquisition of Dwight Howard i expect him to live all the way up to this #4 ranking. Harden is a pure lefty scorer who is extremely athletic and possesses a sweet shooting stroke. Harden is also very strong and has great ball skills making him arguably the best play maker at the shooting guard position. People can no longer question if Harden is a superstar after the numbers he put up throughout the regular season and playoffs last year. It will be interesting to see just how good the new duo of Howard and Harden will be in the postseason.

Anybody who watched last years NBA playoffs knows just how valuable Russell Westbrook is to the OKC Thunder. Westbrook tore his meniscus in the first round against the Rockets and seemingly so did his teams title chances. The Thunder even with superstar Kevin Durant were bested in five games by the Memphis Grizzlies in the conference semifinals. Westbrook is arguably the most explosive point-guard in the game right now constantly finishing above the rim for highlight layups and dunks. He is a much improved shooter as well as an opportunist on defense attacking passing lanes for steals and fast break buckets. Westbrook's fiery personality ignites his Oklahoma City Thunder team and his play down the stretch will play a big part in them returning to the finals.

After the soap opera that took place in Los Angeles, Dwight Howard has finally found a home, and its in Houston. Howard is the NBA's best Center and can effect the game on both ends of the court espicially defense. Howard battled a bad back last season with the Lakers, and still managed to put up numbers of 17 points per game and 12 rebounds giving him the rebounding title. Now that Howard is playing with James Harden I see his production rising to heights we have seen from him in the past. NBA fans forget Howard once willed his Orlando Magic to a NBA Final before losing to the Lakers. As good as Howard is defensively, and around the rim, he needs to improve his free throw shooting. He also needs to improve his low post scoring, luckily for him Harden should be able to get him some easy baskets.

I will probably get bashed for this rank but, I am putting Gasol at #7. Do I think Irving, Curry, and Kobe are better players? Yes I do but I think Gasol will have slightly better seasons then all of them. Gasol is coming off being named Defensive Player of the Year and I see some assertiveness in his offensive game coming along as well. Gasol led the Grizzlies to their first Western Conference Final before being swept by the ageless San Antonio Spurs. I am expecting a great season from the center from Spain but, I wouldn't be surprised if the Grizzlies season is nothing like last season.
