Hey so fun fact, the ADA does not protect your right to go inside a business/building without a mask during a pandemic. If you’re disabled and unable to wear a mask, the business or organization must do their best to provide an equivalent service - say curbside pickup of groceries or a food order, or providing the same information on paper for a nature center. They do not have to let you inside.

As a disabled person who educates on the ADA, this abuse of disability law by abled people who clearly don’t give a flying fuck about disabled people and our civil rights infuriates me. If your center requires a mask and they won’t (or can’t) wear one, kick them out.

Not here. The mask mandate starts tomorrow but the police refuse to help people enforce it. If we say “you can’t come inside without a mask” and visitors say “actually, I’m going to anyway” we’ve been instructed to lock ourselves in the back room and wait for them to leave because there’s nothing we can do to stop them.

Um, tell them they are being refused admittance and to leave, then tell them they are trespassing, and have the cops remove them for that. Mask doesn't matter really at that point.

Not worth it. The chances that the cops would show up, validate the trespasser, refuse to wear masks themselves, and force me to talk to them without social distancing are too great to risk. Safer to retreat to a locked room, wait them out, and then sterilize with the windows open. I have started carrying a little thing of Mace in case someone gets too enthusiastic about “social closening” or whatever owns the libs these days.

I’m afraid no one at my workplace is particularly intimidating.

I just looked it up, however, and it is perfectly legal to open-carry a sword in Indiana, except on school property.

We are already 4/5ths of the way to the setting of Snow Crash so like, honestly? What’s stopping me from just wearing a fucking sword to work and gently resting my hand on the hilt? This might as well happen. Everything’s already stupid.

The more I think about it the more it seems like a good idea.

We have had creepy men come out of the woods to follow solitary hikers in very menacing ways before—nothing anyone has filed formal reports about, but just enough to make me braced for confrontation when I’m out on the trails alone. I don’t think anyone would mess with me if I just had a big fucking pirate sword at my hip. At the very least it would mark me as Probably Unhinged.
