Had a stupid idea after getting inspired by something a friend and I were discussing, so, just let me speak on the mic for this one.
Alright, so, now that we're all tuned in:
My Hero Academia Crack AU where Aizawa's known by the hero name ERA instead of ERASERHEAD, due to a mistake made during his youth: his underground debut.
This would be the only change in this AU.
Dialogue & more info below:
"Hey. I'm here to drop off a villain. My name's--"
"Oh, WOW! I know you! You're that guy who took down that villain gang a while back! Nice one, dude! You even have a sick name too, Era's GREAT!"
"What the hell did you just--?"
"Oy, Jeremy! This the hero of the hour?"
"Yeah! Well, hero of the week, but still! This is the hero who took down Lady Joule and everything! Meet Era!"
"...Okay. Nice to meet you. Can we get that paperwork started?." Guess that's what I'm rolling with now.
Mic would find it funny, at first. He would've expected Shouta to just roll with his real name if Eraserhead wasn't something he liked. He sure wasn't expecting a name like Era, of all things, but, who knows?
That comedy quickly dissolves to offence once he realizes.
"So! You didn't use my name, man."
"I guess we did drift apart, and maybe you just didn't want to attach yourself to me anymore than you would've had to, but, you did say you woulda just called yourself by Shouta if it was left up to you. I didn't expect 'ERA' outta all things, but, I'm not a debbie downer, yo. It's a fireball of a name for SURE! REAAL ROCKING! I just... don't know how you came up with that one? I mean, you were going to just use your real name!"
"It's not like I planned on not using it. I debuted with your name. The other name just happened. It's not like it matters much to me anyway. The public made up their mind on it, and I'm not really supposed to be known anyway."
"Wait. Hey. Hey. Hold on a second! Hey! It took me a lotta effort to come up with such a kickass name, and they didn't even use it?!"
"...Wait. Era's just- Era. Eraser. Eraserhead."
"Now you're onto something."
Mic would definitely try and reclaim Eraserhead. At least, as often as one can.
Eraserhead, understandably, would be a bit pissed.
"Mic, you do know the whole reason why I chose underground heroics was to remain underground and, let's get this straight, unknown? Parading my name around like that on your radio show will blow any possible cover I have!"
"Yo, bro. Reeeelax. It's not like they even use it enough to recognize it in the first place."
"Goddamnit, Yamada, you're still on that?"
"You shoulda held your ground! Built it back up again! How'd ya even manage to make 'em screw it up THAT bad in the first place?"
"Oh, so you're just victim-blaming now."
"So you admit you're a victim."
Eraserhead -- ERA -- doesn't particularly care about this new development. His name, I mean. He's never been one for semantics. Whatever gets the job done gets the job done. Besides, it leaves more villains (who've never met him) speculating he has a time quirk in their dim corners of the moonlight, so he supposes it has its benefits.
From the first episode in UA, though, Midoriya would recognize Aizawa as both ERA & Eraserhead, ever the fanboy.
What Aizawa does detest, though, is the time jokes.
He doesn't get recognized often during patrol. Such things usually only occur due to villains owning other connections / prerequisite knowledge / having met him before, but when it does happen, the comedians of that particular demographic take his name too seriously.
"When I'm done with you, you won't even leave a blemish in this CENTURY!"
"Time's a ticking, Era! Make your move!"
"Such a waste of my time! I know you must hold true to your namesake, dear Era, but it's no fun!"
Yamada still complains often. He's a broken record about it.
